  1. You where called delusional when you said Scott Smith would have success at FC. I'm still right about that one. I think Mac will have success running this new and improved offense that FC has never seen before . My only concern is at what cost does the success come.
  2. Well if this is so I guess FC will be going from the ole Miss mascot and adopt Idaho's. I couldn't resist that one. McCurry will do well there, but I can't get past the character issues and support that hire. What are we teaching our kids? That you can do whatever you want as long as you win? If this is there call I will have to find another team I can support. I just think there is more to high school football than wins and losses. Guess I will know for sure tomorrow.
  3. Are we going to hire a coach before Christmas? This job was one of the first ones open this year and it looks like it may be one of the last ones filled. None of my "sources" even know if they have started interviews yet?
  4. Today is supposed to be the last day for applications, any word on when interviews start, and who the front runners are. I have never seen this much secrecy in Franklin County.
  5. I have heard several assistants names as well, but like you said no one is confirming anything to me. It is very quiet in Rebel Nation.
  6. Your information must be better than mine, I have heard at least two big names, but I doubt either one is going to happen.
  7. I agree Chief. I hope it is good news, but I fear it will be like every other secret. No news is rarely good news when we are talking about FC.
  8. It would be a good idea if they let the new coach pick his staff, but that has not been the way it has been done in the past at FC. If they are smart they will allow the new coach to at least pick his coordinators, but FC being smart is a big IF these days.
  9. Any word on when interviews are going to start? I have never seen FC this quiet about anything. All I am getting is information from people that have as much say in the decision as I do which is none.
  10. I have heard some names thrown out in town. Don't know if any of them are even interested. I don't think there is a shot at getting Carson even if the Siegel job was not available, but with it being open I would say he is out for sure. I have heard McCurry, which I personally think is a no go due to past indiscretions, but who know I am no expert. I know that would not be my choice. I have heard several assistant coaches at other programs mentioned as well, but will not bring up any names because they might not be interested. Some are former Rebels and some have played the Rebels a lot in previous years. I have also heard a name of a current Rebel assistant. My vote is for one of these up and comers to start a new trend in Franklin County. I would hope that a new coach whomever it is will be in place by Christmas so they can start working on a staff.
  11. I think with this job opening up there goes any chance Franklin County had at possibly getting Carson back. I would say he will be the next coach at Siegel.
  12. On a side note. Congratulations to 3 Mr Football nominees with Franklin County ties Mitchel Burner Slayton Wild DJ Taylor
  13. I did not say he would take it, I said he would be a good choice IF they could lure him away from Huntland. There are several other good choices who have been at FC in recent history as well. Brewer, Roberson, Christian, and Jennings would all be great choices too. All of them have been coordinators at FC besides Roberson, and he was the Head Freshman Coach that won with the same kids that Smith could not win with.
  14. That would be a great choice if they can lure him away from HIS school and his kids school. I think Reed would do I great job.
  15. For once we actually agree on something. I hope that Franklin County would not give McCurry a call. Unless they need a fresh coat of paint on the field house that is. I do however disagree with Carson being their man. While I agree he would do a good job at Franklin County I just don't see him leaving Rutherford County to become one of the lowest paid head coaches in the state. Maybe if FC came off some money and let him bring in a staff of his choosing, but I don't see that happening. But we did agree on part of it, so lets build on that Mr. Marshall. Maybe some are out there that knows the program and the kids. Current or former assistants that would be interested.
  16. Though I can see that a change needed to be made, I am not the guy for the job. I do not have the qualifications or the desire to do that. I would hope there is someone out there that would care about the kids the way a Carr or Mantooth would, but I doubt Carson will be coming back to FC a third time.
  17. I think they are graduating a group that went undefeated as Freshmen, and have a group of Juniors that beat Riverdale's Freshmen in the Lions bowl and had only one loss that year. Smith has had two years to develop those young men and they have gotten worse. The talent is as good as it has always been if not better and they are not given a chance to win. So yes, I think it is Smith.
  18. 1 out of 7 chance of getting it right, which Monday and what year? If it was Monday 10/31/2016 then I think you got my hopes up for nothing. If it is another Monday please let me know so I can continue to be hopeful.
  19. Take Scott Smith from Franklin County please. His offense is wide open.
  20. Don't see Moore County being able to "Hold Taylor in check." I say he has a banner night against this rival and Huntland comes away with the W.
  21. It has happened at FC Before too. People wanted a change from the I that Mantooth ran so you get Britton and Atkins. They both lasted two years each. Then after people are tired of the Wing T with Carr they go get another "spread Guy". Wonder when people will learn. I for one am tired of beating this dead horse, so I will not be posting my feelings on here any more since everyone seems to get upset with me that I feel a big problem is that the powers that be decided to out two home town guys that actually cared about Franklin County and its kids. I think mistakes have been made and will probably continue to be made. I don't think Smith was the right guy for the job, but no one ever asked me my opinion. I will continue to hope that the kids do well and pray that the leadership comes to their senses and finds a better mentor for these young men. As I said I am finished posting for now on the topic. maybe after the season I will decide to make my opinion known again.
  22. DJ is a great back and an even better young man. Best of luck to him with Mr. Football and at Wake Forrest. When he gets on a college weight program he will do very well.
  23. I don't know that Smith has ever known how to make adjustments. When his teams are winning because they are a private school that recruits the best athletes, and then he lives off that easy championship for the rest of his career why would he need to make any? FC needs to go ahead and cut its losses and find a coach that can do something with the players they have.
  24. I don't know that FC would ever hire MM. They have had several chances and have not yet. Don't see it ever changing. Which I think is good.
