Coaches the information for the 2021 MTWOA Grand Championships is below but first the short version:

Due to Covid our goal is to keep everyone as safe as possible, we have moved the 2021 MTWOA Grand Championships to Nolensville HS and Mill Creek MS, events will happen at both locations. They are very, very close to each other... walking distance.

We anticipate the Girls tournament plus weigh-ins to occur at Mill Creek MS, the JV and Freshman tournament plus weigh-ins to occur at Nolensville HS.

Girls and JV will weigh-in at 7am with wrestling anticipated to start at 8:30am, Freshman weigh-ins to occur at Noon with competition to follow. This is subject to change based upon entries.

Entries are due on Wednesday the 20th at 9pm or earlier, this is a must and will be adhered to, we have to know how many participants so we can get everything set up early due to Covid, if you do not have entries in by Wednesday January 20th at 9pm, the wrestler will not be allowed to compete.

In order to keep everyone spaced out we are running in stages, we anticipate Girls and JV to weigh-in Saturday morning at 7am with competition to follow, Freshman will weigh-in at Noon with competition to follow. Girls will wrestle at Mill Creek MS and JV could potential be split between Mill Creek and Nolensville HS or just at HS based on number of entries, Freshman will be at Nolensville HS. JV level is defined as 10 or fewer Varsity matches or any wrestler with a 50% or less Varsity Record. If you have someone that you consider borderline let us know and we will make a determination, but basically you know the difference between a JV and a quality Varsity wrestler.

Fans - we expect that each wrestler will be allowed to bring 2 fans with them, if we can allow more we will and there is always that potential that we may not be able to have fans but our thinking is currently that each wrestler will be allowed at least 2 fans.

Entry fee for Wrestlers (Freshman, JV and Girls) is $15 per individual maximum is $400, so means if you have total of 27 or more entries the most you would pay is $400.

Everything is subject to change, based on Entries but this is the outline and should be fairly close to what will happen. Once we have entries in on Wednesday we will finalize the Agenda Thursday morning and get to you immediately.

More detailed info below, but subject to change.

    • Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!
    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
