The Knoxville Yard, with virtually the same roster that went into the medal round of the WWBA Senior Division championships the previous week as the #4 overall seed, opened the Junior Division with a 6-3 win over the Bama Bombers ‘04’s. RHP Dontavious McDowell (’04, The Tucker School, Atlanta) got the win with 3 innings of 1-hit, 7 strikeout relief. The Bombers scored 3 runs early with the help of Knoxville walks. RF Chris Wiley (’05, Hartselle HS, AL) had 3 singles for the Bombers but was stranded on base twice and thrown out at the plate the other time.
