Region 6 Duals

The Region 6 Duals were held this afternoon at McGavock. Overton advances to the State Duals to represent Region 6.

 

Franklin Road Academy beat McGavock and Overton beat Antioch in first round contests to set up a rematch of last Thursday's District 11 final between FRA and Overton, which was won by Overton 36-28.

 

Overton won a tough, hard fought contest between two evenly matched teams that was almost a replay of the District 11 final. Final score this time was Overton 37- FRA 28. As was the case in last Thursday's meeting, the contest was not decided until the final weight class, which, like the District 11 final, was 160 lb. Overton went in to that match leading 34-28 with FRA needing a pin to tie ( in the District 11 final, Overton was leading 33-28 going in to the final match). Larry Davis of Overton and Elliott Durr of FRA hooked up again in a hard fought rematch. Davis scored two points with 10 seconds left in the match to win 4-2 ( in the District 11 final, Davis won 6-4 in OT).

 

Congatulations to both teams for an exciting, well wrestled match and good luck to Overton in the State Duals next weekend.
