drivinandcryin
White Station lost four out of their last five games, two to teams that they had beaten, it looks like, pretty handily in the regular season. Did they have any injuries to make such a negative turn? With their talent, I would have thought they would breeze through, though Fairley looks like the real deal. They simply were not a good TEAM, this year, despite their record. Overall, they were NOT that talented, either. W.S. was too ONE DIMENSIONAL, offensively. It was only a matter of time before their weakness got exposed....NONE of this was a secret to unbiased, Memphis observers. Folks in other parts of the state probably just ASSUMED that W.S. had a good team--maybe because of win-loss record, and PAST sucesses...who knows. Specifically, here's why they lost those 4 games: 1) Fairley spanked W.S. twice. No fluke. No gimmicks....Fairley is just a better TEAM than W.S, in all the key areas. 2) Woodale & Overton both lost twice to W.S, during the reg season. JP Prince absolutely TORCHED them, during those games! During the District playoffs...Woodale & Overton decided (obviously) they'd be better off by forcing someone OTHER than JP Prince to beat them... New gameplan: "box-n-1 (BN1)," defense against JP. The BN1 vitrually took away JP's offensive contribution. His teammates were NOT able to take up the slack. RESULT: 2 consecutive W.S. losses in the District Tournament... Fairley then finally put W.S. out of its misery. Simple. White Station had an impressive championship run (3-peat)! Those teams had tremndous BALANCE. They were fun to watch! This year's team had ONE outstanding player. That's it! It takes a TEAM effort to win a championship!
