  1. Obviously I know who you are, Grasshopper. Also, every real Metro coach past and present bought something from Johnson's Furniture at some point so it was either from the family or Run the ball himself. I said what I said to Mr. Obvious because he shot at me first. Like Stallone said, "he drew first blood, not me". I will not back down when attacked. That is something some real old-school coaches taught me. Enjoy your week off. Maybe I will make it to Vandy next week. Although it is hard to leave the beach to go sit in the rain.
  2. Not sure what part of that you think is "laughable". Does the truth seem funny to you somehow? Also, if some people on here understood that what I said applies to every aspect of life then I would not have to remind them. Maybe you ought to worry about keeping your boy's nose clean over there at CPA instead of being the long time listener, first time caller to the Mr. Obvious Show. How bout you take your one bullet there Barney and do the right thing for yourself. BANG
  3. Work, I believe you got a transfer out of that also. Cane Ridge lost several players over the summer. To call out Vaughn for being zoned to Cane Ridge is wrong. Pearl Cohn has a magnet school just like yours. Every kid in your building is "zoned" for somewhere else. Be careful how you speak out against it since it applies to your situation as well. Jimmys and Joes are the reason for EVERY team's success. I have known plenty of coaches that worked very hard and had excellent knowledge of the game but were never blessed to have outstanding talent or were unwilling to "bend" the rules to bring it in. I have also known some absolutely CLUELESS coaches that were successful simply because they were loaded with players and stayed out of the way. When a coach starts thinking his team is successful because of himself he should just reach up and slap the piss out of himself. The true test of a coach is not wins and losses but the journey of the season. How much did they improve from beginning to end. Anybody can out-athlete another team but can they take a less talented team and prepare them to be successful? I hope all Metro teams are successful AS LONG AS THEY ARE DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY. However, if they are not I will not hesitate to let them know. Win (and lose) with class. The kids will remember the lessons you teach them way more than how many yards you left them in to get.
  4. OK champ pay attention. 1st game of the year vs. Hillwood (a 48-0 victory) with running clock. starting backfield was responsible for all 25 of your running plays and 7-11 of your passing plays including an Upton 43 yd. TD pass while up 41-0 with clock spinning. 32=36 offensive plays by starters. So I guess the subs just ran their 4 plays in the 4th quarter and the Toppers controlled the rest of the time without scoring. Yeah right. 2nd game vs. Glencliff (36-0 victory) with running clock 27-28 running plays by starting backfield. 13-16 pass plays by Upton. 40-44 plays by starters Looks like the subs ran their same 4 plays. 3rd game vs. Whites Creek (45-0 victory) with running clock. ALL 27 running plays by starting backfield. ALL 12 passing plays by Upton including a 45 yd. TD pass while up 38-0 with clock running. That means that ALL 39 of your offensive plays involved your starting backfield. Guess the Cobras controlled the ball for all of the 4th quarter then right? Whatever. 4th game vs. Westmoreland (38-0 victory) with running clock. 38-41 running plays by starters. All 7 pass attempts by Upton. 45-48 offensive plays involving starting backfield. Must have cut the subs back to 3 plays in the 4th. No wait, Upton got hurt on a play deep in the 4th quarter so I guess you just overlooked that. 5th game vs. Stratford (41-0 victory) with running clock 23-26 running plays by starting backfield. All 17 passes attempted by Upton including a 25 yd. TD pass up 35-0 in 4th with running clock. That makes 40-43 offensive plays by starters. At least you are consistent keeping the subs to 3 plays for the whole quarter since "they never play in the 4th". Just say no to drugs son. 6th game vs. Ezell Harding (54-0 victory) with spinning clock. Only 10-17 running plays involved starters (finally). 7 of 9 passes by Upton including a 10 yd. TD pass while up 48-0 and clock running. I would question why you only dressed half your team for the Homecoming game. Makes those subs really feel like part of the team that way. Unlike you these stats are directly from the Tennessean which means directly from your coaching staff. You see you cannot have it both ways. Hard to lie about them not playing when you turn your own proof in. Padding those stats is hard to cover up. It is a scheduling year. Good luck with that. Work in progress, you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. The problem is still there so I guess we have our answer. Surprising considering your stock.
  5. Legend? I have been around Metro close to 50 years and you sir are only a legend in your own mind. The true legends never had to run a score up or leave their two best players in when they were up 40 trying to pad their stats. From the stands you must be missing the sideline coaches asking the booth about their numbers while up 40 points. You are right though. It does not make any sense. If Upton had been really hurt at Westmoreland halfway through the 4th quarter with a running clock instead of just a stinger, your season is over simply to pad stats. And leaving your two college bound players in the game with a 40 point lead and running clock in the 4th quarter is padding stats Mr. Brilliant. I have no problem with the SUBS trying to score, but D1 guys throwing TD passes up 40 is a punk move. I already gave you two specific instances. If you really want me to make you look worse I can give you more. One last thing, if you think a squib kick is needed up 21-0 in the 2nd quarter against a team that has not won a game, then you sir are an idiot. Everything I said was true
  6. Haven't played in the 4th quarter? That is an absolute LIE. At Stratford who threw a TD pass in the 4th quarter of a running clock game while up 35-0? IU that is who. At Westmoreland who got hurt when you went for it on 4th and 2 on your own 34 with 6 minutes left in a running clock game? Yep IU. You even called timeout after he went down because you were unprepared to put a sub in for him. You DO realize that you can go back and see who scored those 4th quarter TD's for you, right? The price for padding your stats will be paid next year when none of these easy teams will schedule you anymore cause you ran it up and none of your players have any experience. Alcoa will probably need a game though. And don't even get me started on you about an on-side kick up 21-0 in the 2nd quarter.............
  7. So, you are saying that a team that was up by 30 still won even though he didn't play his starters to continue to pad stats and run a score up? A win is a win. By one or 61. 60 point wins are 100% coaches ego.
  8. Yes it is. Notice they did not immediately dispute this like they usually do. Hard to dispute hard facts.
  9. So, Campbell, MacPhail, Crawford are current assistants. Gore and probably Murray (since he applies for every job) are current head coaches. Adeylott, Thompson, and maybe Bubba out of retirement are former Metro coaches. No current metro assistants at other schools have a chance anyway.
  10. Obviously this is true since the Lindsey family has apparently moved back to Murfreesboro since the younger son is more of a baseball player and Maddux does not let them play baseball with AAU going on. Also, the Bradshaws moved back to Greenbrier, well ................................they never left there.
  11. If they are at Lighthouse, it is because they do not have to conform to the eligibility requirements of the TSSAA. No grade requirements. No transfer rules etc. Much like College Heights and Pioneer Christian before them, they have sold their soul to try to win ballgames against the likes of Aaron Academy and Hendersonville Christian. And where did that get College Heights and Pioneer? Locked doors.
  12. Work, they are required by law to "open" the job even if they already know who they want. It still has to be posted and the whole dog and pony show must be held. Shuler has to play the game. Tell your father I hope he enjoys retirement. He can get with Shadow and Run the Ball and the Bubster and compare notes.
  13. Here is a serious question for Fentress Co. people. Now that the state has reneged on the promise it made to Alvin C. and the people up there, is there any reason to have 2 public high schools in that immediate area? The cost of operating two schools when it would be easy to have just one has got to weigh on peoples minds in spite of the tradition of Clarkrange. I compare it to what happened in Clay County with Celina and Hermitage Springs and in Overton County with Livingston and Rickman. It was no big deal when the state controlled York, but now it has to be a burden on a county with limited resources. Of course Macon still keeps Red Boiling open so there is a basis for the other side of the coin. Thoughts anyone? And again, I have no dog in the fight. Just curious.
