I could also see Nanney playing both sides of the ball. He was a very good receiver in middle school & would give us the height we're losing in Thomas & McDonald. I think you'll see Moran at receiver some too. We won't be the dominant team we were this year but we won't be a push over either. These younger kids gained a lot of game experience this year.

He's a great coach but this group of seniors were a special group & he knew what he was walking into. Everyone in Dresden knew from the time these seniors were playing pee wee ball how talented they were. It will be interesting to see how he does with just a good team (instead of a great one) if he stays at Dresden. That will be the measuring stick of his coaching ability to me.

Every fan base has those one or two fans. I think the point Dresden fans are trying to make was we knew how good our team was this year & were confident we could dominate any team in 1A while others didn't give us a chance. A lot of Wayne County fans bashed our team too till you guys played us. Total respect for Wayne County & your program & for your fans that came back after the game verifying what we had been trying to say about this team....they are just special & you don't have a team like this often. For Dresden they were a first & may be our only team for a long time to come. We'll be good next year with our district & with the experience & playing time the younger guys got this year, I'm just not sure we could compete for a state championship.

They fell short last year & set a goal at that point & came up with the motto "15in16" & "unfinished business". They played this entire season with a chip on their shoulder & remained focused & took care of business every game. Teams like this don't come thru Dresden or 1A football for that matter very often. Now they have a lot of young LIONS looking up to them & striving to reach the same goal. Way to go 2016 State Champs!! Take it all in & enjoy this moment. We sure have enjoyed the ride.

To clarify....the "classless" comment was not made on this thread or by a Greenback fan. It was on a different championship game thread.

Not going to take the time to go back through this thread & call out all the doubters & naysayers but if you were on here the last week talking about how Dresden didn't stand a chance & calling some of our players & team "trash", please eat your crow & congratulate this group of boys. i really expected some to have been on here by now. BCsportsfan for sure needs to eat his share of crow since he wasn't even affiliated with either team. Both teams showed in the 1st half that they deserved to be in the championship game. As I anticipated, Dresden made adjustments & did their thing in the 2nd half. Greenback's players were just as advertised (with the good & bad) & should be proud of a great season. I was taken back by the size of some of GB's boys when they came on the field but knew we had the playmakers on our team to get the win. Saw where at least one person said it was "classless" of Dresden to run the score up. Dresden scored 27 unanswered points & shut GB down in the 2nd half. This was the championship game & the biggest stage these guys had the opportunity to play on. They deserved their shining moment & the opportunity to showcase their talents. This Dresden team made history yesterday & we're going to be celebrating it for awhile. FINISHED BUSINESS!!!! Way to go Lions!

Justin West is a good one. Any kid that has ever played for him will tell you that they have the ultimate respect for this man. The town of Dresden has completely bought into the football program beginning at the pee wee level. It's no doubt from the success of our teams from the last 5-6 years.

#2 performance on the field today said it all & shut up all the doubters. You tried to warn them about the Yates train. Most overlooked player & most deserving. Greenback absolutely could not stop him.

Sure was nice sitting back all week watching Greenback talk about what they were going to do to our Lions knowing what the outcome was going to be. 62-27!!!

Not really understanding our play calling. Feed the beast until GB figured out a way to bring him down which doesn't look like it's going to happen.
