  1. Looks to me like Baylor was top 4 in every weight. How do they qualify only 13 for the state?
  2. Another great wrestler who did okay in football was John Hannah, who was at Baylor, Alabama, and the Patriots. He was a National Prep heavyweight champion, a football All-American at Alabama, and is in the NFL Hall of Fame. Many years ago he was named by Sports Illustrated as the greatest offensive lineman of all time.
  3. This is some pretty confusing, apparently poorly defined stuff. Who are the intended beneficiaries? Since the TSSAA is responsible for high school sports in TN, does this improve the level of athletic opportunities for the kids in the state? Specifically to our sport, does it make TN wrestling more competitive on a national level? Is this the goal or is it something else?
  4. Having been fortunate enough to get to know Gabe and his family over the last few years, I can honestly say that Gabe is as fine a young man as one will ever meet. He is certainly the kind of person I would want my kids around. He is also a pretty good wrestler. He has much to offer those that want to get better at our sport. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to one of the finest the sport has to offer.
  5. What's your point? They all attend Blair-going to classes and everything- hence they are a school team.
  6. You are right- apparently there is some confusion with the National Preps and Fargo. This is a high school team tournament.
  7. There is no Team Tennessee listed but Baylor got 7th- surprising with only 5 wrestlers entered. Father Ryan was 29th. MBA was 47th and McCallie 55th. Tennessee was represented well. Thankfully Tennessee teams can again participate in this great tournament. It's an opportunity for national exposure that is crucial for those that want to wrestle in college.
  8. Parker places 3rd with 4-3 win over Wyoming Seminary.
  9. Seagraves wins by fall over Blair in the second. Places 5th.
  10. Sutherland places 4th at 160.
  11. Sutherland places 4th at 160.
  12. Murphy places 3rd with 2-0 win over Georgetown Prep.
  13. A couple of clarifications- Baylor 220 was Jon Schmissrauter, 285 was Cooper Reiniche, and 138 was Jesus Arciniega
  14. Buck- You are right, based on how they were raised I would have two boys and one daughter who would be very confused and very angry. Along with them, though she is not very big, my wife would wear me out, especially if I won. It won't be long until all the questions are answered-
  15. Uncle Buck (you must be old if I'm calling you uncle), Having you and Bear Cat on here bring back good, for the most part, memories. Thanks for straightening out #6. You have saved me some time because Ball & Chain sounds kind of familiar- no need to look that up. Assuming your are talking about me betting against TBSFBAG, I am afraid I can't do that. Besides, if I bet my house what would I win, another house? I think I will pass. Were the red legs, which they are no more, to meet the Irish, some things could be different than a couple of weeks ago. Certainly 106, 113 and152, among others, will be of interest. It should be an exciting weekend.
  16. Mr. Brown- I enjoyed seeing our friend Harry T. Friday night but you were nowhere to be found- at least I didn't find you. Hope you and your brood are doing well. I agree with you on 1-5 and 7. I'm not sure what to think of 6 but I will try to search you out on the net and see how you perform.
  17. Sommers- Champswhine is bringing out the TSSAA Handbook on you. You are in trouble now!
  18. If you're talking about the edge of the inner circle I guess you are right. You might want to look at the tape.
  19. It seems like we have some revisionism here- the shot was taken in the center of the mat. A down block and sprawl doesn't cause the shooter to get behind you as you move the action out of bounds with the shooter dragging his feet working for a takedown. It was the right call.
  20. This is great, and surprising, news. I wish it had happened years ago but this is a step in the right direction for TN wrestling.
  21. As I understand it Baylor was allocated 400 tickets. We will have plenty of room to get comfortable on the visitor's side.
  22. I doubt we will see a 2 point stalling call at the buzzer for a 6 point swing at 152 either. It will be a great match.
  23. According to the BB's article Sutherland wrestled. You're right- stalling ain't his deal.
