  1. This region has a several very good football teams. Who sent players and where did they go to play in college? I know of 2: Tyler Crowder - Quarterback - Stone Memorial - Methodist College, Fayetteville, N.C. - Scholarship Zach Brumfield - Linebacker - Stone Memorial - Samford University, Birmingham, AL. - Walk on
  2. If Stone will play the entire game the way they played the 1st quarter against KC it will be a long night for Scott. They stop KC for a score on the goal, then they took the ball and marched down field and tied the game. The rest was all KC.
  3. A group has hired an attorney and Cumberland Co. has NO recall plan. You have to wait until the next election cycle and vote the !?xx/!!'s out! I heard that at the last meeting there was a group of 6 commissioners that sat on the back row and voted NO on everything presented! I am sure they are a wonderful group of guys. I wish they would go on a fishing charter with Tony Soprano!
  4. Last night they(the BOE & County Comm) had more meetings. STILL NO SCHOOL!!! I heard that there was a interview with Lynn Tollett- county comm. and Aarona Vanwinkle - Dir. of school on the local radio station yesterday. Some local parent called and said the the children are our future and we most raise our taxes to to fund our schools, his reply was, "we have spent enough already, there will be no tax increase". This is not a quote, but he said something along this line. I would bet Mr. Tollett has no kids in the system!! or he has a large parcel of land he does not want to pay taxes on.
  5. Glad to hear everything is okay! These types of injuries are so scary. God speed from Cumberland County
  6. Thanks for all the support from coach T members! Every town has a village idiot, I guess Oneida's is ask_me.
  7. If what i AM HEARING IS correct, Cumberland county School will not start until October. That is when the state will take over and they will operate on a basic buget. This means NO SPORTS, NO BAND, NO ARTS, NO CHEERLEADING, NO AP or HONORS COURSES!!! I other words if you plan on attending college, MOVE TODAY!!! I guess we will know more in the next meeting, but it sounds like the BOE is standing its ground and the County Commisssioners want pony up! So the children of Cumberland County LOSE! I have never seen such an under educated bunch of commissoners, how did they ever got elected is beyond me!! This may kill sports at the state level in Cumberland County. Both schools will have to pay out their contracts and that will mean thousands of dollars spent and never recaptured. Stone is only in its 3rd year and does not have the money in the first place. In 16th century Japan the county commission would have to fall on the sword because the have disgraced the community. In 17th century France the would meet up with MR. Gullitine. In the early19th century they would be tared, feathered and run out of town on a rail. In 21st century USA they are re-elected. There is something wrong with this picture!!
  8. The county commissioners (most) are the problem! They will not raise taxes enough to cover education. Our property tax is a joke. I remember a few years ago there was talk of rasing taxes for education and the people from the Glade started sending money to the commissioners. Last year the BOE got $0.41/ child, this year they want to give $0.38. I say give more money to education! In the last year or two CC built a new jail for the criminals! I say give them a tent city, just like our Marines in Iraq. This County commission has ALL of their priority's wrong. The FAT in CC is not in the school system! Last year the PSO had to raise money to fund the SMHS Library. They had to few books to be accredited, I know we worked on the project and donated our own books for the cause. I think the retiree's in the Glade would not have a bit of a problem raising taxes for education, but the land barons who control several commissioners will!
  9. WELL THE WAY I SEE IT, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WIN THIS ONE! CCHS HAS TO PAY STONE FOR THE LOSE AT THE GATE!! SO I GUESS BOTH SCHOOLS LOSE!! THE BOE HAS TO LOSE AS WELL SINCE THEY WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NO SHOW!! WHAT A MESS!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I think that Evan Sanders of Stone Memorial is one of the best kickers/punters in the Tennessee/Southeast U.S. Look for him to sign with a D1---No doubt!! Remember you heard it hear first!!!!!!!!popcorneater:
  11. To be honest, I do not think that is the REAL problem. Remember last year when this same thing happend? it was a lot of folks for Fairfield that started writing the paper and sending in money for extra taxes that would be due.. Taxes where most of these people from are insane compared to any where in the south. I think that the commissoners tell the locals that so they will be mad at the people in Fairfield and not the commissioner. I know a lot of people from other places and we all joke about the low tax base, so a little tax increase is not going to make any transplant mad. Now the local land barons, that is another issue. I think they are the ones who have most of the commissioners on a string and alot of them are against 2 high schools, so this is their way to punish the county.
  12. Our season may be cancelled or we may miss several games because our county commissioners will not approve the BOE budget. School was to start today, but is has been postponed until Sept. or Oct.
  13. It has been brought to my attention that CCHS and SMHS football teams are planning a workout / protest on the city square tomorrow at 11:45. We need everyone to come out and let our wonderful leaders know just how we feel. Please come and support OUR schools!
  14. It appears we may not play at all this year! Senior punter/kicker Evan Sanders has been talking to several D1 schools and if we do not play they may lose interest. What a shame. What do TSSAA rules say about moving because of the village idiots not showing leadership?
  15. YES!! NO practice, no meetings, no scrimmages, no games, nothing! ALL that time, energy and money spent this summer wasted. Vote out the county commissoners (village idiots) next time around!!
  16. This is part of the problem, the County Commissioners do not care about the kids, only their on pocket book!!!
  17. AMEN! I hate taxes, but our family voted for the tax just to help the school system. This is another reason this country needs term limits. If 2 terms is good for the President then 2 or 3 terms should be good for everyone. Term limits will break the good ole boy system of yesteryear. Remember, A vote against education is a vote against the future! May be the programs cut should be the ones that employ all of their relatives! I guess it is the American way, keep them fat, happy and stupid! Good Job County Commissioners.
  18. I hope very one in Cumberland County remembers to Vote the current County Commissioners OUT in the next election. Please attend the Special meeting set for Tuesday night and voice your concerns. The problem I think is that some of the board members did not want the new high school (Stone), so this is their way of getting even. I have heard that they want to go back to one High School and if they do we will have the same problem as before, OVER CROWDING! The TVA did a study last year and they said that with current growth patterns that CC will need a third high school in 4-5 years. WHAT A MESS OUR COUNTY LEADERS (village idiots) HAVE PUT US IN!!
  19. My bad! the score was 4 Harriman Stone 2. The later scores came with jv or freshman. I paid more attention to the 1st part of the scrimmage. Harriman did leave a very large part of the D in late, we review film SAt.
  20. 3 to 1 would be right. Stone played aLOT of freshmen all night. When Stone put in the JV offense harriman stayed with the 1st team Defense. JV and freshman had very little time on the field because they did not turn on the lights.
  21. I have heard that they have a really good front line this year. Other than that I have not heard much. How do they look? Who is the QB? Good luck Jets.
  22. Stone has lost Coach Brannon to York, He is a great guy! Good luck coach!
  23. Rockwood won 3 to 1. Stone played EVERYONE, freshman d line, freshman qb, soph. qb. They showed a new game plan. Both teams moved the ball. Stone had more dropped passes and Rockwood ran a little better. Agood night for both teams.
