  2. looks like he would rather play in front of 21,000 (UT) instead of 9,000(DUKE)....besides duke isn't duke anymore...those days seem to be over ...has he been in thompson boling arena when it is rockin....that's all it will take

  4. actually it s 3 region titles in last 4 years...they won it in 04
  5. haven't taken it all in yet but will chime in later ...but having a kid that played three sports in high school ...football, basketball and tennis ....from what i can see it doesn't look all that bad ....i don't think that tssaa is regulating the kids as much as it is THE COACHES , some of them were getting out of hand.... 100 "OFF SEASON" games is too many......demanding that kids play the sport that YOU coach year around is idiotic....i am anti- specialization to the bone...i was taken to task on here a few months ago by someone who said a certain kid should not play basketball because he should concentrate on base ball ...because that's where his so called scholarship opportunities were.....well that same kid (from gatlinburg pittman) signed a scholarship to play FOOTBALL on signing day...after basketball was 80% over...let's see..........................he quit BASKETBALL to concentrate on BASEBALL then he signed a scholarship for FOOTBALL..............................i only wonder if he is even playing baseball now ........perhaps he is playing soccer ....best i remember he was a dang good soccer player when he was younger............
  6. mcminn centrals gym is big enough to host a sub state ..that is all that matters
  7. it was a great game and unicoi has a great team...march madness is off and running
  8. if you can't make free throws then you're not gonna win ...that's the name of that tune....you're not going to the sub state ...the state ...or anywhere else ...you're just going home ! it'll be all over ....and OVER QUICK.....how many of our guys, i wonder, got out and shot free throws yesterday on their own...or did we sit around all day with girl friend instead, or whatever .... how many will get to the gym early today and practice free throws ...i'm talking about a conscious, concentrated practice effort from the line ...SERIOUS REPITITIONS..... it's up to you ...coach can't hold your hand all the time......you guys better start making SOME....you don't have to make em all, but 39% (yeah ..do the math) ain't gonna cut it .... or come next sunday (less than one week) your gonna have all the time you want with girlfriend or whatever 'cause you aren't gonna have any thing else left to do, except maybe sign one another's annuals and kiss one another good-bye ....because it's gonna be all over ..LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST
  9. pigeon forge was 11 for 28 from the line ....still not good
  10. the IMAC tournament at cocke co.(smoky mountains) and the 2AA tournament at cumberland gap might be in question weather wise today.....so far so good in the smokies @ 11:00 am...just a few flurries so far
  11. Maybe we need to give some credit to coach Parkey. I heard that he brought a tape measure out and offered it to our boys while they were getting in some shooting before the JV game. If this is what happened... then i would like to thank him for providing us with some pre game motivation. All of our players were talking about that !

  15. this is growing into an excellent discussion
  16. ok...comparitively speaking ...and that's all we have to go on....last nite ...fulton beats alcoa by 4 at fulton....pigeon forge beats alcoa at alcoa by 4......so to me that would make it close ...either way....we have played some very good teams from out of state whose progress i need to check on (i'll get back to you later on that) also 04 substate ...lost to alcoa at buzzer ...06 substate... lost to catholic in a close one ....now 21 and 0 and looking like a possible substate team...i believed we have closed the gap on the knoxville programs ....whether or not we will get over the hump only time will tell...also i don't believe alcoa is having a DOWN year ....they are the ones who have played a tough schedule and they will be there at the end with 20 plus wins and probably playing for a championship of some kind ...we feel certain that when the time comes that alcoa fulton or ae will be the team to beat to get to the show ...i promise you we are watching those three.... pigeon forge folks will be at maryville/alcoa tonite ........we also beat maryville in a scrimmage a week before our season started....if FULTON is better it is not by much...i promise you that ok...comparitively speaking ...and that's all we have to go on....last nite ...fulton beats alcoa by 4 at fulton....pigeon forge beats alcoa at alcoa by 4......so to me that would make it close ...either way....we have played some very good teams from out of state whose progress i need to check on (i'll get back to you later on that) also 04 substate ...lost to alcoa at buzzer ...06 substate... lost to catholic in a close one ....now 21 and 0 and looking like a possible substate team...i believed we have closed the gap on the knoxville programs ....whether or not we will get over the hump only time will tell...also i don't believe alcoa is having a DOWN year ....they are the ones who have played a tough schedule and they will be there at the end with 20 plus wins and probably playing for a championship of some kind ...we feel certain that when the time comes that alcoa fulton or ae will be the team to beat to get to the show ...i promise you we are watching those three.... pigeon forge folks will be at maryville/alcoa tonite ........we also beat maryville in a scrimmage a week before our season started....if FULTON is better it is not by much...i promise you that
  17. here's the scary part......THEY ARE GETTING BETTER ! ........last nite nichols and hafeez (gaurds) came off the bench to produce 32 pts between them... they hit multiple 3's and made some outstanding hustling ,athletic, DEFENSIVE plays...they are the quickest guys on the team.... also bennett comes in and gets 9 pts in the post and he also comes off the bench with great intensity on defense...so in a huge district road game at rutledge we get 41 pts from the 3 guys off our bench ....the tigers are developing into a solid 8 man rotation..at the beginning of the season DEPTH was considered to be our weakness ...now it is becoming a strength
