  1. I still see LC struggling with SH, MC, and GC espcially now that Ammons has graduated. IDK they may surprise me and others.
  2. Heard Ring looked dominating yesterday in the 3 or 4 innings he threw against Spring Hill. No doubt that Ring, Rice, and Adams are 3 of the best in Middle Tennessee.
  3. SH has scrimmaged Columbia Academy and Loretto already. SH - 15 CA - 3 SH - 6 L - 0 They have Mt. Pleasant today. Any others?

  5. Kellen Beard is no doubt one of the top players in the district playing middle infield and at the the plate. He had a great summer for Columbia Post 19 Jrs. Very hard nosed player.
  6. Congrats to Wayne County, Coach Rice, Austin Rice, and Boston Ray! I had to opportunity to coach Austin and Boston in baseball the past couple of summers for Columbia Post 19. They are great kids! I am happy for all of them and this is well deserved!

  10. SH sweeps Eagleville on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday 11-1 WP - Teal Wednesday 10-2 WP - Schubert Schubert threw the ball very well Wednesday night especially after the 2nd or 3rd inning. He looked like as the game went on he got more loose and had a lot of zip on the ball. I would say he was throwing 87-88 or maybe more. SH definatly has some good players left on this roster. Darren P. who is just a freshman is doing a great job in CF and looked good at the plate last night with a 3B & 2B. I heard Teal threw great on Tuesday night but didn't get to see it for myself. Tech14 hit the nail on the head by saying the coach has them ready and bringing new guys into the big roles. SH should have another outstanding year. It's going to be fun to watch.
  11. Petty started some games last year in the OF and should do so this season. L. Bigler was the DH last year and should play 2B now that Prewett will slide over to SS. L. Bigler could also play 3B at times when Schubert is on the mound. I failed to mention L. Bigler in my earlier post but he will be a big part to SH's success this year. He done a good job last season so it should carry over.
  12. Brochu and Bigler are both at Columbia State. Brochu made an impact for sure in his first college game. I'm not sure how Bigler done that weekend but I know he will make an impact soon. He is too good of a player not to. Walton is at Walters State. I'm not sure how is doing. It has been a while since I spoke to him. Therriault and Howard are at Martin Methodist. I know Therriault is traveling with the team this year and they are trying to change him from a 1B to a 2B. I'm not really sure about Howard but I don't believe he is traveling. I need to contact all these guys and catch up since it has been a while. When I know more I will update.
  13. Schubert from SH has signed with Lipscomb. Very good arm and a hard thrower. He had two games last year that he had 14 K's against Page and Blackman. Green or Vernon did not throw against SH last season. I say the Vernon kid throw over the summer. He has a lot of upside and should do well for MC this season. Teal from SH should get a lot looks this season. He is sneaky fast and hides the ball very well.
  14. I agree... the SH/MC, SH/GC, and GC/MC games are usually games filled with high emotions and some great baseball.
  15. Santa Fe beat Mt. Pleasant tonight. Very good game and SF has improved. I thought SF forced some shots late that they didn't need to but they really played very well overall.
  16. Who are some of the top returning players in the district? Here's a few that I know of. Spring Hill Scarritt Sr - Trevecca Schubert Sr - Lipscomb Teal Sr Prewitt Jr Ellis Jr Petty Jr Lewis County Ammons Sr - Vol State I know Marshall County and Giles County has a few players but their names don't come to my hand at this time. Who from Page, Hickman County, East Hickman, and Fairview?
  17. This should be an exciting district to watch. I look forward to getting out and watching some of these teams play. Any players looking for a place to play this summer should look into Columbia Post 19. See more information under Travel Teams - Baseball or check out the website. http://www.baseball-teams.com/teams/columbiapostjrteam/
  18. Columbia American Legion Post 19 17U team is looking for players to complete our roster for the 2011 season. We are looking for pitchers and all positions. Any player that is High School eligible can play. Our home field last summer was at Columbia Academy and more than likely will be again this summer. Post 19 provides High School players a chance to play a schedule of 40-50 baseball games against strong competition with only a $250 player fee. The player fee helps cover uniforms, tournament entry fees, equipment, insurance, etc... Post 19 17U team won the 2009 & 2010 American Legion State Championship and look to make another strong showing in this years State Tournament. The 2010 team finished with a 34-5 record. Post 19 17U team begins play in late May and concludes play in mid to late July. This years schedule has not yet been completed but the team looks to play a very strong schedule against some of the best 17U to 19U teams in the area or surrounding states. More information such as our schedule can be found on our website. http://www.baseball-teams.com/teams/columbiapostjrteam/ Please contact us if you have any questions or are interested in trying out. coachglw@cpws.net
  19. Congrats to Tyler Rice. I had an opportunity to get to know him and Coach Rice a little this past summer due to coaching A. Rice in baseball. A couple of nice guys for sure. I'm happy for them and WCHS. PC's Tucker was also very deserving of the award. Congrats to that young man on an outstanding season. Good luck to him next season.
  20. My understanding is that Lemire moved from Hampshire to SF which means a change of address with his mom but he is still ineligible to play for SF. I think more could have been done so he could play but then again I don't know the full story.
  21. The last I heard Lemire would not be eligible.
  22. I wouldn't say that CA don't have anything for a long time behind these guys. I believe four of the players returning from last years team that either started or got a lot of PT are Jrs this season. Plus last year middle school team was runner up in the county tournament. Yes... I know that was middle school but CA's middle school teams are usually pretty good and finish in the top two of the county. This years middle school team has two of the best guards around that will make a impact on the high school team in the next few years. They are the Cary twins.
  23. 1. Mt. Pleasant - A lot of good athletes and height. This team can out rebound most which will get them several W's. 2. CA - Best player from last year graduated but return 4 starters and 2 others that got a ton of PT. Best guards combination in the district with Patterson, Morgan, & Robertson twins if they play under control which hurt them at times last year. 3. Richland - Well coached and always in the running. Usually have some pretty good athletes. 4. Culleoka - I'm not sure what they have returning but will be well coached. The athletes are there. I heard several players are returning to the team now that they are under a new coach. 5. Santa Fe - The talent is the question mark. Lost several players off last year’s team including the best player which was Garrett. Best & Mitchell can lead this team but who is going to handle the ball? Also in the past too many players on the team thought they were good because mommy and daddy tell them they are good but what have they won or what did they ever win? The coach is one of the hardest working coaches in the district. It's time for the players to buy in, quit thinking they are better than they really are and reward the coach with W's. I hope they can make a run at the top. 6. Cornersville - They may have more than I know. 7. Hampshire - Boshers is good but very lonely with not a lot of talent around him.
  24. The Post 19 Jr team had a very good pitching staff. T. Huddleston - Summertown, G. Ring - Mt. Pleasant, V. Boyce - Moore County, B. Ray - Wayne County, L. Laster - Cornersville, M. Adams - Cornersville, N. Dunnavant - Richland, B. Pratt - Columbia Academy, S. Staggs - Santa Fe, A. Rice - Wayne County, B. Hunsicker - Smyrna Starters - Huddleston, Ring, Boyce, Ray & Dunnavant Relievers - Pratt, Staggs, Rice, & Hunsicker Closer - Adams Laster only threw 1 inning this summer of relief in the state tournament due to having some arm trouble. If he was healthy he possibly could have been the teams # 1. In that 1 inning he got the interest of a few college coaches. I'm sure he already had a couple colleges interested in him from the 2010 high school season so he should be getting several looks from colleges. Huddleston, Boyce, Laster and Dunnavant will pitch for the Sr team next summer. Huddleston and Boyce are getting some looks from colleges. I'm not sure about Dunnavant at this time. Staggs will probably throw in relief next summer for the Sr team but he will mainly be used as a utility player in the line up. Ring, Ray, Pratt, Rice, & Adams all return to the Jr team. All will begin the season as starters. Hopefully a couple new comers will take over the reliever and closer spots. Ring may have an opportunity to move up to the Sr team on occasions. Rice (SS), Ray (3B), Pratt (CF), & Adams (LF) will also play the field while not on the mound. The team also returns T. Daly - Culleoka who will take over the catching duties and N. Holt - Lawrence County who was a main stay in RF. Both will look to earn a spot in the pitching rotation. I feel pretty good about next years pitching staff at this time. The biggest concern for next summers Jr team is replacing the bats of Staggs, L. Pippenger - Wayne County, D. Ammons - Lewis County, C. Hughes - Richland, B. Ramsey - Richland, & D. Underwood - Zion. All should get plenty of opportunities for the Sr team next summer and be a big part of the team’s success. Several of the players on the 2010 Post 19 Jr team should be getting looks from colleges. I hope all of them get an opportunity. I really feel like they can be successful at the next level and could really help someone's program. pigeonrooster - Did you get an opportunity to watch the team play this past summer?
  25. He has several schools recruiting him. Back at the end of the summer he was leaning toward MTSU. There is no doubt the kid is good!
