  1. Just wanted to pass along that Monroe won 3 state championships in a row at Cleveland in the mid 90's with 54 games won in a row and is already a TSSAA hall of famer with a stadium named after him at Cleveland.
  2. It should be a great game. I grew up in Cleveland watching Benny Monroe's teams dominate for the early 90's. I also spent the last two years of my high school days in Cookeville, and it is impressing to see what Joslin has done at over the last 6 years. I am looking forward to two great coaches going at it in the first week of the season. I got to go with Cookeville by 3 because of what is returning.
  3. The Week 0 game between Ootlewah and Cookeville should be a great one. I grew up in Cleveland watching Benny Monroe's Cleveland teams flat out dominate in the early 90's, and I look forward to seeing how he does at OHS. I also spent my last two years of high school at Cookeville and still go back to watch what Joslin has done with that program. Should be a great one, and I hope I can get there.
  4. My name is Joel Zimmerman, and I am flexible to any part of TN.
  5. I know it is late in the game to be looking for a position, but more or less I am just looking to get my name out there. I played college basketball at the juco and Division II level, and my father coached in TN for 14 years as well. I do not have a license but could get an Interim license in Social Studies until getting certified. Essentially, I am just looking to get my foot in the door in TN with the dream of running my own program somewhere down the line.

    All-Time Coaches

How about Benny Monroe at Cleveland. 54 games won in a row, and at the time neck and neck with De La Salle for nations longest winning streak.
  7. My name is Joel Zimmerman and I am about to graduate from Anderson College with a B.A. in history. I would like to get my foot in the door of high school coaching in TN in any capacity. I have been around the game my whole life, and have helped this past spring in recruiting and new offensive wrinkles at my school. If anybody has any openings please feel free to email me at zimmermanjoel@hotmail.com.
  8. Anderson College is looking for two big athletic men 6'6 and up. Anderson is DII in the CVAC conference, one of the best conferences in the country. Team that won the conference made it to the final four of DII this year, Queens. Conference always has DI transfers and Anderson, which has already had a good recruiting season wants to get back to conference power status of two years ago.
  9. UTC did not have a team camp last year b/c Lebo had just got the job, and Dickerson never ran one. Lebo at Tech brought in all kinds of excellent high school teams and had competitive camps. Im sure he will be able to do the same at UTC.
  10. Yeah Travelers did not fair so well this weekend. I dont think they won a game, and did not get out of pool play. Some of the top teams in the country were there like Riverside Church, Gauchos, Team out of Boston, Team Florida, The Family out of Detroit, Boo's Team, Team Texas, Team California to name a few. The point guard out of California, and the Team Florida were the talk of the tournament. The guard from California has already committed to Duke for 2004-2005, and will be tough to keep off the floor.
  11. I would go three guards b/c del, vince, and darnell could all play down low. g: Darnell Mee g: Russell Ware g: Rich Burns f: Vincent Yarbrough f: Del Baker Off the bench g: Reggie Tucker g: Chris Parks f: Theo White f: Dante Hickey, was nasty when he played c: Jamie Trull
  12. What about jason richardson and the post that played with copeland, ward i think is his name. Those two cats could play.
  13. I do know that 6'5, 6'7 players can play in the post at the division two level. Anderson College would love to have him come down here and play in the CVAC, one of the best conferences in the country with at one time this season 4 teams ranked in top 25. The dominant post players in the conference were around 6'7. At AC are best post player was 6'5 and he had games where he dominated. AC needs a post player too. They are guard heavy and thats with me and two other guards graduating.
  14. And how you going to say he was just so-so. His accomplishments at cleveland speak for themselves. He built that program. Have some proof to your statement. Dont just let those kind of statements hang out there. It is not like i think my pops is a great coach, but i do think he did do a good job at cleveland, and then again at cookeville. I am curious to see who you are dancer.
  15. just curious who u are dancer or are you just going to hide under your screen name and talk junk. Same ole stuff with you cleveland people, God im glad we got out of there.
  16. My pops was forced to resign b/c he didnt play the superintendents son, who was sorry anyway. Also, go back and check if cleveland had any kind of bball program before my pops got there. He turned cleveland into a district and region power in his eleven years there, and he also did a pretty good job at cookeville considering the lack of bball enthusiasm in cookeville and who we had to go up against two, three times a year in those awesome white co. teams. Oh yeah my junior year we did beat cleveland when they were nationally ranked, and my senior year while at Cookeville we put a hurtin on that supposed great bradley team in a scrimmage right before the season, and all those boys except josh hare and stacey scotton were lookin for a fight cuz we dogged them so bad. Get your facts straight before you start talkin about my pops, but i guess i should expect this. There are many haters in that area for some reason, but bump that cause my pops has moved on to better things. I mean i guess he has to be somewhat of a good coach if Boo Williams picked him up to coach his Hampton, VA AAU team. Yeah this is the team that allen iverson played on and year in year out one of the best aau teams in the country. In terms of bias, i really could care less about cleveland/bradley. I have great respect for both coaches and the great jobs that they are doing in that sorry town. [Edited by jz41 on 2-21-03 9:06A]
  17. It is true that Bradley played well to win that game, but the refs do come into play when cleveland and bradley play each other. I remember my dad walkin down to the end of the bench one time to throw something in the trash, and he was T'd up for that. I also remember my dad went to the TSSAA and got knoxville refs for all of cleveland's home games starting when reggie tucker and his crew were seniors. This was an excellent move i thought on his part. Most close calls in cleveland, bradley games go to bradley. That is just the way it is. [Edited by jz41 on 2-20-03 11:27A]
  18. It is good to see that the cleveland/bradley rivalry is once again one of the best in the tennessee high school basketball. Backyard you are right on about Darnell Mee and Rich Burns going against chad copeland and the big Ward kid down low. I am coach Zimmerman's son and we still get out some of those classic games and watch both teams making great play after great play. I think one of the best cleveland/bradley games, and i played in many of them was in 1989 when chris parks hit the three at the buzzer for a cleveland upset at bradley. Good to see that these two programs are back among the states' elite
  19. Basspro I played on that team as well, and i got to say that Hassell lit us up but there was nobody in the state that could stop him. All i really remember wasy him killin Del Baker, if Hassell would had any help we might not have got out of the first round.
