  1. Without question...It would have to be Coach Randale at Munford. What he did this year has got to be considered nothing short of miraculous.
  2. WHOP-WHOP-WHOP!!! That's the sound of some Region 7 teams continuing to beat a dead horse. It is just inconceivable to some that improvement can be made by hard work, sound planning, and attitude adjustments. I think that there may be more than sour grapes here. I wonder if it might not just be a case of envy. As I said on my very first post in regard to the Munford -Henry County game, I picked Henry to win but I cautioned all of the Henry County faithful not to put the game in the win column. I specifically pointed out that in working East games over the last 10-12 years that Coach Randle did an outstanding job in game and time management. In close games, whether outmanned or not, East seemed to always find a way to win. I suspect Munford has won several games this year in this manner after checking their schedule and scores. I can also remember the number of days I drove down Poplar Avenue in pitch black darkness and looked out and saw the East football team on the field. I suspect that if you drove by the Munford football practice field you just might find their guys still on the field. Why not just give credit where credit is due! Whether outmanned or outgunned. you can bet all you own on one thing.....Randle won't be outworked!!!! I'm not the least bit surprised by the Munford teams progress this year. In fact...Most people in Memphis expected it. The rumor mill in Memphis is humming with what would it take to bring him back home.
  3. This will be NO CONTEST!!!!! Melrose's defense will completely stifle Fairley! Look for Fairley to try and run off tackle out of the I. Melrose will key the depth of the tailback. When the tb is set 3 yds behind the fb. look for run. When the tb sets a yard behind the fb, he's there to block for pass. This will necessitate that Fairley go to the passing game. Look for a number of sacks, at least one fumble, and several interceptions that the melrose d will come up with. Melrose scores four offensive tds and at least one defensive td. Final score will be something like Melrose 37, Fairley 13.
  4. New to coach t but am enjoying the different threads and all the different comments from around the area regarding h.s. football. It's been a part of my life now for over 30 years and I am fortunate to remain a part of it on friday nights working different games around the memphis area. Couple of things to mention regarding swaping of game film. I noticed a number of you were concerned that the coach from Mumford was not swaping tape. I can give you some insight as to the whys. Coach Randall and I visited at the MIAA officials banquet and one of the topics of conversation included swapping of tapes with opponents. I understand that on more than one occasion he would receive tapes of poor quality that did not allow the viewer to see much of anything (formations, etc). Also, on a number of occasions tapes that were swapped ended up at other schools (Ex. schools that might be seen down the road in playoff games , or end up at other schools that a coach might have a buddy or friend at) . When you talk about character and integrity, it goes both ways. This type of practice has gone on for years. As for the Henry Co. -Munford matchup, I would have to say that HC should have the edge. Bigger, Stronger, Faster!!! I would say one thing as a precautionary note to HC. When Randall was in Memphis, I worked a number of games that I did not think realistically his team would have a chance in and watched myself proven wrong. Seems to get kids ready to play and is a great game and time manager. Hopefully it will be a good game. I'll be working the East -Northside game and will be out at Greenhill Thursday and at Whitehaven on friday. Enjoy what might just turn out to be an exciting night of football at Munford
  5. I've been working games in the west tn area for 12 years and I've never witnessed such a decline in a program all most over night. What's going on in the inside. I had a former crew member work the east melrose game and the report was east could hardly line up right muchless stop a melrose team that put over 50 points on the board.
