  1. I attended 4 games of the owls this year and came away very impressed by this team. There defense was nothing special but really flew to the ball and played fundamentally sound and would bend but not break. This offense is what really was deserving of that national ranking. They were very tough to stop when brunetti was on. Kudos to MBA for a great season and i was at the championship and thought they gave MUS all they wanted. THe one thing i will say is that it would not have been such a tight game had barry been able to run. They shotgun spread/veer is predicated on the QB being able to run the ball and i thought it was very impressive that without that they were still able to move the ball the way they did. He really impressed with his pocket presence and his accuracy. I think he will play alot of games for someone on saturdays and can say if he had another 2-3 inches he would be in high demand for alot of pro style teams as well. I played in the 97-98 Ryan games and I can say that those guys were very dirty and talked alot of junk but they sure backed it up. THey were a tough group. Man was i glad to hear mondelli was out the following year. That guy was a beast! He had alot of potential. I wont get into a public private debate but i sure wish we had played alcoa this year. This was a special MUS team, much like Ingles MBA teams. A banged up MUS team really had no trouble at all with the 6A champions and i personally think when clicking they were on a different level than other TN teams. Looks like we are in for a few rebuilding years ahead.
  2. I have seen it posted before about the dII record vs 4a-5a schools over the last several years. Does anyone have access to that info or can they link me to an older post! Thanks! Im in a conversation with a couple of guys and really thought that information is pretty interesting.
  3. blur- have you heard anything about the Frosh at Blackman Letavious Mathers? i have heard he looks like he should be starting for the varsity. one coach said he was the best looking frosh RB he has seen in a very long time
  4. Jake Rudolph, iconic head football coach and athletic director at MUS for thirty-nine years, died Sunday afternoon at Baptist East Hospital. All of us in the MUS community feel a great sense of loss with his passing. Information about arrangements for visitation and funeral will be sent as soon as the family has had time to make those decisions. Are thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn, sons Steve, Courtnay, and David, and their families. Coach Rudolph coached from 1959-1997 and led the MUS owls to a 295-119-4 record including a 1985 State Title over Austin East. That’s a lot of football games coached. He was a great man who impacted alot of young mens lives.
