Good post that shows how watered down the system is today. It is all about $ for TSSAA. Today's coaches have a far better chance to win state championships in futeball than earlier teams. Team accomplishments get padded more easily as a result of the current system.

Recon so.....the skillet slingers weren't supportive of teaching them younguns earholing back then. Don not being in support the youngons practiced mostly at the parks. Pert near sure them mid eighties teams that were state contenders were some of the initial little fellers.

Old Pirate can remember Ted Scharer and some others in maybe the mid to late seventies- early eighties. Figure theys maybe some fellers that knows more. The fellers hangout back-n-the day was Sue's Snack Bar on what is now part of Moss Motors. Us fellers yapped about that sort of stuff and the Korea & Nam days. Don lived down by the 5 way red light then, on the corner.

LOPAO........................feller, ain't nobody irreplaceable! Coach Vic did a good job. The fueding program is..........bigger than the high school head coach. Fact is Don never wanted the little league program in SP and the Griders never participated in the little league. The founding fellers that initially started the little fellers deserve a huge thank you. Point here is the whole futeball program is largely responsible for the success of the high school program not just the head coach. Look at the other three major sports baseball and basketball. The baseball has been relatively successful with solid summer ball that goes way back to Sam Brooks and his Pony League players & league ball for the youth. The basketball is terrible and has no off season league that teaches the game. Youngons today ain't going to get out in the heat and play basketball at the courts like back-n-the day!

OP heard this am that one of the SP coaches got the green light from his skillet slinger and is in talks about doing the exact opposite. Recon it could be true? Uncle Lester also told OP that some in town are getting their pitchforks ready to march iffin they ain't named the HC by weeks ends! Recon some aint to happy the ways things done went down..You think OP is jokin...OP ain't joking neither

Are you joking......Don would not have let this mess happen. Tradition over a long time is what makes SP a annual favorite. Don played much tougher competitive teams than the last 15 years. The last 20 years has been watered down the last 8-10 years. Point here is.......Vandy if decided to play in the Southern conference would be an annual favorite too. Dad burnit, you Vols fans would have a a lot of Southern Conference Championships too.....LOPAO....Zzzzzzzzzz

PM, after talking to some fellers yesterday on a local D & D Golf course Old Pirate says there appears to be a mess round the corner for the Pirates. Word is H. Grider has lost interest in fueding and is looking at some possible administrative positions.Hale is contemplating retirement as well as Tidmore and rhe other coaches' ( Stone & The Body Guard feller) status appear to be in limbo. Folkes a saying the staff coaches have been in the dark as much as us other fellers.This is......a bunch of mess! Look around at other schools, Jasper is a great example. How many coaches are left from 5-10 years ago or left after McCurry took over? That coach that went to WHITWELL last year that had been there for years was replaced. Outsiders who obviously can't feel the pulse of the players, staff and community will......make changes! Dad burnit Old Pirate is getting some bad vibes and ain't because the skillet slinger bought some new skillets neither!

A feller that ain't never won a feud of any kind sure can't be bonafide. You see, it is like when a feller 1st takes on a prospective skillet slinger, a feller that ain't never been in a feud @ the drivein movie theatre fumble bumbles around then suddenly the feud is like racing to the finish & the 1st there wins. Well after some quick dashes to the finish line a feller gets adapted to the pace & training and 1st thing a fellers knows he jest might be ready for a marathon....after finishing a marathon a feller is bonafide and the cheering skillet slinger is slapping a feller on the back & shouting.... "Thata Boy".....That said, is the new feuding coach even been to Roy's 50 yard dash any?

Old Pirate agrees, that said the resulting deception of Pirate fans, prospective players and staff coaches would leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth. OP ain't convinced them Jasper fellers ain't paying this feller's skillet slinger to become a double agent infiltrating the Pirate sisterhood and find out about proper stud making. Dad burnit fellers that coach got a peewee age player! He ain't old enough to play QB for the Pirates jest yet! If the 4 year deal mess is true he'll be in Jasper or back in Ga before he's big enough to do some real ear holing.

Old Pirate was a wondering jest how much a head feuding coach makes not counting QB Club & special interest sources? Surely some of you folkes knows this question. Would ask Roy but Old Pirate is still ticked Roy has never responded about being bonafide! OP don't like Roy very much neither...think he is a double agent from Jasper! Feller, Old Pirate ain't falling for this mess neither, something ain't right about this whole tale. Folkes is more than a tad confused about this. Why go to all the trouble to have all these potential coaches sending you applications and wasting folkes time, why not appoint a interium coach (H. Grider, Stone, Tidmore or Hale) like Vic is principle from in house coaches and insure a continued path toward a direction the program has been going. Ever heard the tale about upsetting the apple cart? OP ain't been shy saying the team needs more discipline and all but this jest don't add up to OP.
