During Maryville's run they have been the best in the state regardless of class. With that said, I wonder what this year would have been if Maryville was in 5A. They barely beat an above average, but not great William Blount. After winning 60 straight, they win the games they play. Until they lose, whether it's 4A or 5A, they are the team to beat in the state of Tennessee. They deserve every bit of respect and attention they have recieved. As Ric Flair said "To be the man you have to beat the man." Until they lose Maryville is the man.

He's in between 4.5 and 9.8 along with most of the rest of the team.

Not only was rule good at football, but they had a great basketball team as well. They won the district with AE and Fulton the year before they closed. My favorite memory was playing baseball at Rule where if you hit the ball out of right field it was only a ground rule double because it was so short.

Waco, I have had more time than I knew what to do with this morning and I went through tricitiessports.com and figured out scoring averages through last night. It is suprising how right you are. Most of the team is between 4.5 and 9.8 with no one averaging double figures. I have only been to one game this year but the stats showed me that every night somebody different steps up as the leading scorer.

It is a sad day when Tom Taylor is no longer doing play by play. He definitely got hosed when they switched formats. His show before the format change was entertaining and community promoting. Now we have the Sports Monster. If you want to know what they're talking about, they get 90% of thier material from ESPN radio. No originality whatsoever. Why did DB fans get kicked out of the game?

I didn't see the '02-'03 team. Looking at the starting 5 I recognize what a great team they must have had. I know 3 of those starters. Great players. The argument is good for the topic of debate, but not much else. This year's team doesn't have to play 'DB's '02-'03 team. Their toughest competition will come from JC. I would say this for this year's team is that thier depth is incredible. I can't imaqine many teams in East Tennessee that has had as much depth as this team. There are so many interchangeable players.

I just read on tricitiessports.com of possible candidates for the possible replacement for Cutcliffe if he accepts the Duke job. Ron Bliss mentioned George Quarles. He said maybe not the O Coord, but maybe the QB coach. If offered either position, do ya'll think he would consider?

I'm not sure who the leading scorer is, but I would imagine thier average isn't very high. It could be that there aren't as many minutes going around and less shot attempts. I think with this team it has to say more about the depth. They have a deep bench which is an incredible asset to have. How many coaches would love to have the depth of DB this year. Guys may not get thier stats, but isn't really about scoring averages.

I think with this coaching staff and some of the returning skill positions the future looks bright for the Rebs. Obviously losing D1 talent at QB will be hard to replace, but I hear next year's starter could have started for most area teams this year.

If you mean he was provoked, like the ball was stolen from him on a clean play. I have not witnessed the physical play that Volunteer has been accused. So I watched the playback. I'm sure people have taken thier shots at Cradic, but from me watching the video I did not see anything of him being provoked other than getting the ball taken away. Furthermore, the kid that stole the ball could not be a more clean, fair player so I am sure that there is nothing he would have done that would have provoked.

Is that DB/THS score accurate?

I saw the replay last night and the leg whip is very obvious and seems to be intentional.

Panther08, I think you are blinded by your own insanity. South not able to beat the 3rd or 4th seeds out of Knoxville? I believe that if a team is going to beat Maryville, this is the year. This weeks game is going to be a tough battle for both South and Greeneville. I believe the winner has a shot at Maryville. Until someone knocks them off, they are the team to beat. Just don't have sour grapes because none of the 4A Knoxville schools have had any luck with it. Good luck with basketball season.
