  1. Lewis Co. is tough... Richland must be pretty good to keep it this close.
  2. Congrats to the Bobcats! By beating Cheatham you have established yourself as a strong possibility for the playoffs, because Cheatham Co. always goes.
  3. David Lipscomb might score a few less than normal, but their defense is tough... don't expect Stratford to score double digits!
  4. I think the Raiders have a good shot in this one. With both teams being even I would say it comes down to who doesn't lose the game (penalties and turnovers) as opposed to who wins it. I think Spring Hill will be more mentally tough and make the plays that count in the 4th quarter.
  5. The Cubs bounce back after a good week of practice with a win over their rival!
  6. Page wins... they have improved since last year.
  7. As silly at it sounds, only getting beat 21-0 by DL indicates that Page is playoff contender. I am sure Catfish can give us a short list of the Region teams that have lost to the Mustangs by 21 or less. I would venture to say that they were all playoff teams. The Patriots are ready this year. The game at Marshall County in two weeks will put the winner in good shape for a playoff birth. Don't be surprised if Page pulls it out.
  8. First look at Creekwood wasn't impressive. Here is to hoping they pick it up in region play this week.
  9. Congrats to the Patriots! Nice momentum to start the season. A win over a neighboring 5A school is huge! A testimony to all the hard work by the players and coaching staff. Good luck with the Mustangs.
  10. Man, I thought David Lipscomb would be a little down with the loss of their running backs and some key lineman.... guess I was wrong. The machine keeps on running! Congrats Mustangs.
  11. Still can't believe this many points were scored. Oh the 4th down thing... There should have been a big "4" on the chains on the sideline... look there if the scoreboard isn't working... or at the ref who holds up his fist... for future reference.
  12. I look for both teams to play better on defense this week. Final score: Tigers 28 Red Hawks 14
  13. Spring Hill should really enjoy the game Friday night. After playing Alcoa and Columbia, Montgomery Central is going to seem like a pee-wee team. The Indians might be a little better this year, but if they get down I expect them to quit. The Raiders deserve a morale booster and Montgomery Central is just what the doctor ordered. Raiders go out there and win it with class.
  14. I do agree that the Mustangs have a system that is in place that gives them a great advantage. But I also agree with the point that they are playing with above average players. No, they don't "wow" you during warm-ups, but smart athletes that play other sports (basketball, baseball, track) do not exist at other schools with the frequency they do at Lipscomb. They are not always very big in the line and do make up for that by scheme and technique, but their backs and linebacker are above average for the region and would start on all of the region opponents teams with a few exceptions.
  15. Winner of this game has a leg up in the playoff race. Only three spots available with DL's invitation already having been sent! Cheatham has been the last three years; Giles the last two. I bet it will be a good game. I'm leaning toward the Cubs in what some might consider a minor upset. Cheatham returns more experience and has the homefield. What do you think?
  16. The Tigers will win, but closer than last year. Braden will run for over 150 and 3 touchdowns.
  17. I agree. The raiders will be competitive in the region this year. They won't be good enough to make the playoffs, but they will give some of those playoff teams all they can handle... which is progress by the way.
  18. Page might be the most improved team in the region and looked poised for a playoff spot, but you don't just show up and beat David Lipscomb. On offense, you can't turn the ball over, can't have any penalties, and can't give up any sacks. On defense, you can't give up the big play (+20yds). Against other teams you can do those things and possibly still win... not against the mustangs.
  19. White House has a good team this year, but it is going to have to be a special night for them to beat a Rankin lead Alcoa team!
  20. Expect a close contest from these two friendly rivals. I think the Bobcats keep the Cow Bell!
  21. The Mustangs are traditionally slow out of the gate in game one, but they are too talented and too well coached not to win this one by more than 14. The defense will give up single digits and Rogers accounts for at least two touchdowns...Mustangs win!
  22. Spring Hill is going to be competitive in the region, but I think it is asking too much to expect them to beat Columbia in the second game under a new head coach. Columbia has a nice WR in Belew and the QB gets him the ball on a regular basis. Combine that with the athletes flying around on defense and the Lions are going to win this one by more than a touchdown.
  23. No way Hickman Co. wins by 21. I will be surprised if they win at all.
  24. Stokes is the "Jerome Bettis" of the region. He is the big power back. Glad to hear that he is okay.
