  1. I said you were entitled to your opinion and was just simply giving you mine.
  2. I have a lot of trouble believing that is the real reason for you supporting DL. I do not know you and am in no way calling you a liar im just saying based off the two close finishes in the Lipscomb Giles contests this season it would seem that you are just bitter towards the Mustangs. Yes regions tend to change every couple of years but there is no reason not to support a team as classy as DL especially if they are the ones in your region (when i say classy im talking about the team as a whole not every player and fan). Maybe Giles did for the most part out play the Mustangs on Friday night, but the Mustangs still deserved that game IMO. They were inside the 10 three times and only came away with points once and that was on a field goal. They had no trouble moving the ball at all the problem was the Mustangs seemed to self destruct when they got close to scoring (taking nothing away from the Bobcat defense they had some nice stands). But had they not played so uncharacteristically from the norm and were able to eliminate the self destructions the game wouldnt have been close. I for one would have supported the Bobcats had they won Friday. Not saying there wouldnt have been some bitterness at them taking out the champs, but I still would have supported the Bobcats to represent the region well and I know they would have done so. I just feel there should be some loyalty to whomever it is in the region that is left to represent reguardless of the team. However that is my opinion and I am entitled to it just as you are entitled to yours. As for the game Friday, if the Mustangs can not eliminate the self destruction they will not be victories as they were Friday night. Mitchell is loaded with athletes and the Mustangs will need to play lights out to advance. I think they will make the adjustments they need and I also think that Friday night definately humbled them alot. Before Friday night the Mustangs average margin of victory was 34 points and im sure those boys were feeling a little to good about themselves as any normal team would. But Friday night showed those boys how lucky they were to still be able to play this late in the season and I dont think they will take it for granted anymore if they had been before. David Lipscomb: 31 Mitchell: 21
  3. We appreciate you saying that. Going back to Giles briefly they gave an outstanding effort both times the teams met. I think the better team overall won the game last friday, but I think the better team on Friday night lost.. If that makes any sense. IMO those were the two best teams in the state playing on Friday night and that game was the deciding 3A champion. But I have been wrong before. We will just have to wait and see.
  4. The refs were in no way biased towards the Mustangs. They would have no reason to be because they were not from region 5. Blaming a loss on the play calling is a poor excuse. Also, the score was never 18-6. The score at the half was 6-6 and the Mustangs struck first in the 2nd half. They led the majority of the game untill about 3 or 4 minutes into the 4th quarter when Mitchell took the lead. Even though it was close Lipscomb still for the most part controlled the game. They scored at the end of the game and Mitchell had time to answer. The dispute at the end of the game was not one that was valid in any way. A player is not permitted to re spot the ball the ref must do that. Had Mitchell let the ref do that they would have gotten one more play off. I doubt it would have meant anything but still they would have had that chance. You CAN NOT blame the refs for that loss. However, that was a year ago and the past is gone. The future is this Friday and I cant wait to see what it has in store.
  5. When naming the teams the Mustangs have stuggled against I would replave Bolivar with Mitchell from last year. When Lipscomb played Bolivar in the quarter finals last year Bolivar to the lead early 14-0. But after that the Mustangs scored 38 unanswered points before Bolivar scored a meaningless touchdown at the end of the game making the final 38-20. That win was not much of a challenge once the Mustangs got rolling. Mitchell was another story as we all remember.
  6. Lipscomb wishes Bo the best of luck next season and we looked forward to watching him play on saturdays where ever it is he chooses to play!
  7. i seem to recall mitchell going for two everytime they scored against lipscomb last year. I also seem to recall lipscomb shutting them down everytime!!!!!!!!!
  8. i listened to that game on the radio and to me it sounds like the lipscomb boys played their hearts out and never gave up. If you just looked at the differences in wieght on the line you could of seen that lipscomb was undersized, but never gave up. lipscomb very mush so deserved that win. and if the mitchell players would of known the rules of football they would have had on more play(you cant spot the ball yourself the ref has to), also they very clearly do not know how to handle losing or how to compose themsevles when they lose. Ohh and should TSSAA provide bulletprove vests to the mustangs during this game. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  9. I dont see any reason for them to not. Please make corrections to my statement because I dont know exactly how most of this regions students are filterd into the high school. But i do know that the public schools in my area (Brentwood, Ravenwood, Cenntinial etc.) have set middle schools where the students attend before they are in high school. All of those programs are public schools and could start whatever system they have as early as the 6th grade just like DL. I dont know if they schools in this region are the same way or not because i am not located in the area of any.
  10. Its not the DL talent that makes them a great team every year. Its the coaching system. These players start by running the basic version of the offense during middle school and gradually learn more and more. In the 9th grade the freshman do not play with the varsity unless the chose to do so at the end of the season. In the 9th grade they run the same offense and defense the varsity does. This is carried over when they get to the 10th grade in the jv games. By the time the players see action on Friday nights they have the offensive and defensive formations down to a science. This is why most players have to wait till their senior year to be in the spot light, with the exception of a few juniors and occasionally sophomores. Page gave a strong effort and has nothing to be ashamed of. They had a great season and accomplished more than most of this regions players a priveledged to achieve by not only making the playoffs, but taking out a 1 seed from an opposing region. Congratulations to Page and all they achieved this season. They stood toe to toe with Giles and Lipscomb this year. Best of luck to the Patriots in years to come!
  11. I dont see any particular advantages for either side on Friday night. Both teams know what it is they have to do to win the game. You are right though. DL does have experience playing in very cold temperatures. The quarter final game last year was about 25 degrees when the game started and dropped to around 19-20 degrees in the second half, if my memory serves me correctly. I dont think the cold will play a factor in the game though. Both sides want this win so bad I dont imagine the players will notice the cold at all. I cant wait for tomorrow night! This is going to be an joy for all the fans to see. I have already given my prediction and hold to it still. I look for a tie game at the half but see the Mustangs out lasting the Bobcats in the second half. IMO these are the two best teams left in 3A facing off tomorrow night. Most are expecting the Mustangs to prevail and I do as well and hope they can do so. But the Bobcats definately have a chance to pull this one out. I wish all Giles county fans a safe trip from Pulaski!
  12. Public schools are filtered by the area in which the students live. David Lipscomb students are a similar situation except the students follow their parents. The majority of students at Lipscomb have parents who attended there as well. Including Zach and Austin. Both mother and father attended Lipscomb in high school and college. Athletics had nothing to do with neither Zach nor Austin going to Lipscomb. Parents chose to send their child to Lipscomb for the Christ like atmosphere they will be placed in. These kids almost always come from strong christian homes (not at all saying the students at the public schools dont) and have parents that want them to be influenced by other christian adults like themselves. If the Rogers had wanted their children to go to school for athletics why would they not send them to MBA or BA? It is because they want to give them as much of an opporitunity to make their faith in Christ as strong as possible before they are out on their own. Once again, I am in no way saying public school families do not want the same thing. There is an abundance of christian families and teens in the public school system, but that is why the families have chosen to send their child to Lipscomb. Never for athletics. I apologize SH fans again for bringing Lipscomb onto this forum. Best of luck next season!
  13. The DL starters will play the whole game. I havent seen anyone predict them getting any rest. Giles has proven to Lipscomb that they are the team to beat. I think Giles feels the same way about the Mustangs. These are arguably the best 2 teams in 3A this year and i think this is going to be a thriller till the clock stikes 0 in the 4th quarter.
  14. obviously not. i could be wrong but i think they needed to win last friday to have that chance.
