  1. Going to be a tough game for JCS. Westview is big and physical! Can JCS handle 2A football? No one knows...we will find out Friday night. Westview will pound the ball on JCS. It will be interesting to see if JCS's front can stand up to the challenge. It will also be interesting to see if JCS's passing game can be effective vs. Westview's highly touted defense. Good luck to both teams, this should be the game of the week in Jackson.
  2. Matt Hudson from JCS. 305 yards passing and 1 rushing TD Friday night.
  3. It will be on Thursday, July 26. Teams will warm up at 4:30 PM and begin competing at 5:00 PM. The lineman challenge will be at TCA and the 7 on 7 will be at USJ. I'm not sure who all is going to be in it, but I do know that Northside, Southside, Haywood, TCA, USJ & JCS will be there. I think this is a great idea! As far as letting others see your o and d...execution is what matters. it is going to be hard to trick any teams when they will have game film on you before you play. the only way it could affect a team is in it's first game...but being good at what you do is more important than "hiding" something from an opponet. Plus you don't have to show all you do. I think it is a good thing for football in the jackson area. Good luck to all involved...
  4. Well, I've read all the posts pertaining to JCS and Mt. Pleasant, so far and I have a few things to say: 1. Congratulations to both teams. Making it to the final four is quite an accomplishment on any level. 2. Both teams seem to have good players. MP's back has put up numbers like no one the past few years, maybe ever, hard to compare that to anything else...it speaks for itself. 3. JCS's football team does not claim to be more Christian or different from others that believe in Jesus. They just want to glorify God with their efforts and lives. Whether they win or lose...to God be the glory! 4. As far as football goes...could come down to which defense can make the most stops. It seems that both of these teams have pretty good offenses. You know the old saying, "Offense wins games, but Defense wins championships!" Good luck to both teams. MP travel safe! And whatever ever the outcome may God recieve the glory!!
  5. Stats aside, considering JCS has implemented a new offense this year and didn't have it fully installed until around game 5 or 6, I would have to say that Clay Fowler is one of the best QB's in 1A. Good arm, very accurate, makes great decsions, reads coverages well and can also beat you with his feet.
  6. To JCSFAN '87: Obviously you do not know what this year's JCS team is all about! LC fans, please don't judge JCS by his comments. The JCS Eagles want to give God all the glory in victory or defeat! They will not be disrespecting any field for any reason. These are two good teams that no one thought would still be alive. I anticipate a great game...don't miss it. Good luck to both teams!
  7. I find it unbelievable that JCS went into Mckenzie, never trailed in the game, forced 5 turnovers, proved it was more balanced offensively than McKenzie and yet still people say that JCS is mediocre at best? Do you not think that JCS's defense had something to do with McKenzie not playing well. If JCS scores when they had the ball in the redzone every time they would have scored 42 on McKenzie...so ifs and buts are just that, JCS was and is the better team. Now having said that, McKenzie had a great year and their fans were great. Great environment for high school football. One of the loudest high school games I've been to in West TN. Good luck to <cKenzie next year and good luck to the Eagles next Friday vs. LC. Butchie, or any Rebel fan, how do you think JCS matches up vs. Lake County?
  8. Coach Stewart of Jackson Christian School. Overcame a lot of adversity early in the season, had to adjust to a new staff, offense, etc.
  9. UC is a well coached team with a great running back. But will it be enough? He is definitely capable of taking a game over, but JCS's offense is beginning to click. They scored 40 vs. Halls and 50 on Middleton. JCS had over 300 yards rushing in the monsoon last Friday night. If JCS can continue to run the football the way they have the last few games they will be tough to beat. They are averaging over 400 yards a game of total offense in the second half of the season. Their passing game is pretty salty and you add a strong running game to it and they will give defenses trouble. JCS is still my dark horse pick, but they have a tough road. They will play UC, then McKenzie (probably) and then they will more than likely have to get through Fayette Academy. That's a tough road to travel. Good luck to both teams Friday night. Be safe.
  10. FA has a strong running game and they are very physical. Lake County has a lot of athleticism. LC has the potential to make some big plays but the question will be can they match the physical-ness of FA. I think the Vikings win this one, but it could be closer than expected.
  11. I agree with papabear. JCS has turned the ball over way too much this year. If they hold on to the football they win against DCA and even Fayette Academy. They had 3 turnovers against DCA and 4 against FA and they lost both of those games by a combined 5 points. They had 6 turnovers against Southside with 4 of them coming in the redzone. So needless to say the Eagles' offense has only stopped itself. Not to mention that they are now running a new offense without one of last year's leading rushers in West TN. As I posted in an earlier string, I believe JCS could be the dark house canididate to come out of the west. If they can hold on to the ball, slow #33 down then JCS should take UC, but you never know. I guess that is why they play the games...
  12. My dark horse pick is Jackson Christian. They played a tough schedule at the beginning of the year while they were adjusting to a new coaching staff. They seem to have the Spread Offense rolling the past few weeks and they have some good athletes. They lost to Fayette Academy on a field goal at the end of the game, that game could have gone either way. Anyway, just some random thoughs from an old fogie!
