  1. Actually, Chaz has rushed 76 times for 728 yards and 10 touchdowns. Through the air, he is 49-84 for 816 yards and 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions (those ints split between only two games) While alot of Heckman's runs were drawn up or checked at the line, alot of Chaz's have come on scrambles. His uncanny speed and agility gives him the ablity to turn disaster into a big chunk of yards. I remember against Siegel, the pocket collapsed and three guys were in the backfield swarming in on Chaz. All he did was turn towards the outside and run. 33 yards later, he was in the endzone. From what I've seen, Heckman doesn't have that ability to turn broken plays into positive yardage.
  2. We would still play all the 6A teams every year (there was concern that we would no longer play schools like FHS, BHS, and Indy.) Its set up into three classes (A, AA, AAA or I, II, III) but each class is broken up into two subclasses for playoff purposes. This is similar to the way Michigan and Illinois have it set up. From what I heard, the divisions will be pretty much identical to 11-AAA in basketball, with the classifications being: 5A-Centennial, Hillsboro, Hillwood 6A-Brentwood, Franklin, Independence, Overton, Ravenwood We would play every team in our AAA, with each game counting in the region standings. There will be a predetermined set of automatic berths for each subclass (based on # of teams in the subclass). The remaining playoff spots will be wildcard format. (still not sure how they're running that)
  3. You cannot possibly be comparing Heckman's mobility with Scales's
  4. I watched parts of that Columbia/Franklin game last week, and for much of that first half, Columbia really held that offense in check. However, once Franklin broke it open, Columbia seemed to roll over a bit. The key for Centennial this week is to score early and often. We can't have these Page/Dickson Co. kind of games where we give up TD's on the first three or four drives of the game. We need to take all the momentum early and control that game from start to finish. If we do that, CHS could make this a name-your-score game. But like we saw that first half last week, Columbia can really step up their game if its close. If this is a close game, Columbia has the athletes to get it done. So we need to play smart, focused, and disciplined from start to finish.
  5. I would say Centennial has an offense equal to, if not better than Franklin. The defense will be the main concern in that game
  6. Combined with Columbia's loss tonight, that does indeed clinch the top 4
  7. I think its safe to call that CHS/IHS prediction an epic fail.
  8. I don't think I've ever been more proud to say I was wrong about my preseason prediction (saying CHS was still a year away). I'll agree with ambiguousrock, as an alumni, I've never been more proud of my Cougars than I have been this season. I don't know what Coach Mat said to his team at halftime of that Page game, but since then CHS has played at a level of play that no one has seen them play at before. A great season so far, but in my eyes, it's just getting started.
  9. You mean the #12 that got burned 4 times by Drew Kelly last Friday?
  10. It's been a historical season to the Cougars up to this point. -6-2 is best record in school history at this point in season -6 games: longest winning streak in school history -First time in school history that they defeat 2 playoff teams from the year before -With wins over both Indy and Ravenwood will assure that Centennial gets their first win over a current-year playoff team since 2004 -Chaz Scales' 21 TD's shatters the school record set by Curtis Steele -On pace to be the best statistical offense in school history What does all this mean?...... Absolutely Nothing It's been a great season, but its not over yet. It's time now to finish what we've started. After the bye, CHS will get two tough opponents in two weeks. This is not the time to coast. Play one game at a time and don't even think about the playoffs until the clock at Franklin hits :00. Keep playing smart, stay focused, and finish the job at hand. If you do all those things, great things will come to you.
  11. Easy bud. You guys are having a great year, but lets get through Columbia and Franklin before we start with the playoff talk.
  12. He was a good QB, but I don't think he'd be ahead of Chaz. Also, Tilghman from C.C. has a pretty good arm as well.
  13. Chaz is a very humble, hard-working individual. I can say with some confidence that he'll be focused more on the next two games than his stats.
  14. Wow. I knew Dickson had started to turn a corner, but I'm still shocked by this result. In the past few games, I thought Indy had started to find some rythym and had a legit shot at turning their season around. Very disappointing result for the Eagles. But congratulations to the Cougars at D.C. on a hard-earned and well-deserved W.
  15. One more note; Chaz Scales picked up 4 more touchdowns last night, increasing his total to 21 on the season. This breaks the Centennial record of 17 set in 2004 by current Memphis starting RB Curtis Stelle. A great achievement for Chaz. Here are the stats from last night: CENTENNIAL 44, RAVENWOOD 28 CHS 13-7-16-8 44 RHS 7-7-7-7 28 Scoring Summary 1st Quarter RHS-Rowland 2 yrd run (Wurster Kick) CHS-Kemp 6 yrd Run (Pass Failed) CHS-Jackson 43 yrd Run (Bass Kick) 2nd Quarter RHS-Jordan fumble recovery in Endzone (Wurster Kick) CHS-Scales 56 yrd Run (Bass Kick) 3rd Quarter CHS-Scales 22 yrd Run (Run Failed) CHS-Kelly 25 yrd Pass from Scales (Bass Kick) RHS-Ricke 29 yrd Run (Wurster Kick) CHS-Bass 26 yrd FG 4th Quarter RHS-Bayless 42 yrd Pass from Williams (Wurster Kick) CHS-Scales 19 yrd Run (Brothers Pass from Kemp) Individual Stats Passing CHS-Scales: 9-13-143 TD RHS-Williams: 12-31-200 TD 2INT Rushing CHS-Kemp 12-97 TD, Scales 11-94 3TD, Jackson 7-70 TD RHS-Ricke 16-76 TD, Rowland 12-84 TD, Sierra 7-68, Williams 13-38, Fitzpatrick 1-(-15) Receiving CHS-Kelly 4-77 TD, Carpenter 1-48, Estrada 2-25, Jackson 1-(-1), Leach 1-(-6) RHS-Fitzpatrick 5-63, Johnson 3-52, Bayless 1-42 TD, Sierra 1-16, McPherson 1-14, Vicary 1-13
  16. So can someone remind me again why Chaz shouldn't win region MVP?
  17. Technically not yet. If Columbia wins out and we drop our last 2 then they'd have the advantage with the 4-3 record and the tiebreak.
  18. Final from Centennial, CENTENNIAL 44 RAVENWOOD 28 Statement with a capital 'S'
  19. Just got word: CHS up 32-14 in the 3rd.
  20. Gameday: Here's how Centennial can win this game. 1: Balanced attack: Keep going with what got you here. Regardless of who they've played, Centennial has shown they have one of the most explosive offenses in the region. Keep giving it to Tony and Raymond (who should be back for this game) and then allow Chaz to open it up some some draws and passes. 2: Strong secondary play- Centennial boasts a very strong secondary, and they will get a big test against a balanced Ravenwood attack. With the run-defense still questionable, it is important that the secondary wins the battle through the air. Take away the pass, and that may help the defense key in on the run a little more. 3: No mistakes: In a big region game like this, the game is often decided by what team makes fewer mistakes. Play smart football; no bad passes, no fumbles, no stupid penalties. Its these kind of mistakes that can often shift momentum in a game. Apparently its a "white-out" game at CHS, so hopefully the fans will be there in full force and stay loud the whole game. Remember, one game at a time, anything can happen at this time of year.
  21. Who are you, Sinclair Lewis? To answer your rule book question, I think most everyone here is tired of you. Second, its not what you're saying its how your saying it. If you have an opinion, please go ahead and express it, thats what this forum is for. But not every post you make has to have a mocking, satirical nature to it. If you want people to respect your opinion, respect theirs. Whenever anyone has a different opinion, you come up with all this egocentric crap that belittles both the poster and the opinion. Feel free to disagree with something, but if you want people to stop coming after you, I suggest you change your tone on here a little.
  22. Not alot of talk for this big game. So I'll ask this; can the Ravenwood defense handle the high-powered Centennial offense?
  23. I did not see the game, but hearing some accounts from people that were there say that D.C. might be starting to turn a corner. They seem to be improving every week and that big backfield is starting to make some plays, and last week they exposed some of our holes on defense. Judging from the defensive problems Indy has had this year, I could see a similar performance this week. It will take a big game from the Indy offense to win this game.
