  1. I believe you are correct in that they did sub in for some starters on one series, but once Indy scored they put all the starters back in. The second TD was scored on the first string.
  2. tough loss to brentwood. If Independence or maybe the indy coaches can figure out what is working for them and what is not, they may surprise some people as the season goes on. They may be a young team but they have talent on both sides of the ball. I think they need to go back to the drawing board and figure out what they did to score in the 4th quarter. if they had played that way on offense and defense the entire game, they may have won. Work on the fundamentals and reduce turnovers. Seemed to be some poor play calling early on, but once they put the ball in the air, the momentum of the game changed. Their quarterback seemed much more comfortable. I am impressed with Thomason and indy seems to have some solid receivers. I for one am anxious to see if this team improves as the season goes on.
  3. Saw Brentwood play indy and indy play oakland. Brentwood, although right now the number 1 team in WC, is not that great. If Indy had played the entire game the way they played the fourth quarter and had not had so many turnovers, the outcome might have been different. I would love to see those two teams play again later in the season. Oakland is a powerhouse and is making a state championship run. I have not seen a team in WC that can beat them. Im afraid brentwood is in for a shocker. Im all about the WC teams doing well, but after seeing both of them play, my prediction is Oakland 40 Brentwood 7. I do hope Brentwood can at least score once, but I am not sure they will pull it off.
  4. actually I am neither, don't have a dog in the fight any more. I enjoy Indy football and have always liked Eubanks. Heckman and Stannerd were both great players and as far as I know good young men. I just know you can't develop a football team around 2 people. I will have to agree with you that at the end of the season it did seem that Eubanks utilized more people like Meeker, but I have to wonder if that was by choice or if he knew he had to do it to try and save his job. Not sure, but I know 2008 was a lot about Heckman to stannerd nd the beginning of this year was the same. I just believe to build a program and players, you have to use all your weapons. From knowing what some of these upcoming guys are capable of, I am looking forward to this next season. i hope they get prepared in the off-season because i don't think many of them had the opportunity to show last year what they could do. Hopefully, they will have enough playing experience under their belts to be successful.
  5. Steyer, Leak, Powell, Farrel, Alisi, Kelley, Thompson, Prado, Norman, Fetner, etc. They have a strong group of guys that probably should have been given more of an opportunity to contribute last year, but it was all about Heckman and Stannerd. I hope the new coaching staff will utilize ALL the talent on the team. If some of these guys would have been used more last year, Indy's season might have been better and they would have gotten more experience to help them this year. Eubanks was a good guy, but was out of his league as head coach. He should have had more help running the offense. Indy was way too predictable. i for one am looking forward to what this new coaching staff will bring to IHS. Not even going to post on the thread about the coach. That is ridiculous. It sounds like the team is excited about their coaches, so the rest of us should just stay out of it. Best of luck coaches, players and parents at IHS. I hope you have a great season next fall!!!!
  6. The only thing wrong with Indy's passing game is that the quarterback won't pass. While he is a good player, he does too much on his own and doesn't utilize the talent that is on the field with him. That is the issue.
  7. BGA Tuesday and Dickson Co. Friday Indy will be the dark horse this season. Boys are stronger and faster. Scrimmages are for working out the kinks and finalizing positions....they will be ready! GO EAGLES!
  8. Anybody heard anything about Indy football during the off season or for next year? Its been awfuly quiet from over there. - Oh - and don't let this turn into another coach bashing site. I'm talking bout program and players.
  9. Kelly (S), Steyer (S), Thompson (F), Fetter (F), Leake (S), Ryan (S) , Obisui (S), Alissi (S), The freshmen and JV have had good seasons. I don't know much about the freshmen accept the 2 mentioned above. I believe they have gotten some JV play this year. I also think most of the sophomores listed have had quite a bit of varsity play time this year as well.
  10. Any thoughts on how the rest of this season looks like and what the future holds for Indy?
  11. Ok - after reading what a bunch of grown men enjoy arguing about, I will tell you what I think Indy has going for them... 1. Indy has a new principal who loves football and supports the coaches and team 2. Indy has a huge fan support because they love those guys....winning or losing 3. Indy has had a great past and will have a great future. Yeah, this may be a team building year, but we will have W's and L's and we will learn from each! While sleeper and others want to argue about players in the past or Heckman or Smith, the team is moving on....the coaches see what each player does on and off the field and they make the decisions of who will play or not based on a lot of things that fans don't know.....get over it! Trust your coaches to make the decisions. They have to live with losses juts like the fans do...except I am sure it is way more serious to them! 4. Coach Eubanks, Coach Jones and others are just what IHS needs. They are learning, too. Cut them some slack! I've heard many students and players talk about what these men mean to them. They respect them whether IHS is winning or losing! NO ONE wants to lose! 5. A NEW ANNOUNCER that has been fabulous! Not sure who he is, but he is doing a great job!!! It was time for a change in that area and the IHS fans are happy with the new "Voice of the Eagles"!!!! He is much more upbeat and exciting which is what our team and fans need now!!! Thank you whoever you are! Keep up the good work Eagles! Your fans support you whether you win or lose! You are a great team with a great future. Keep pluggin' ahead!
  12. Well put...agree totally! 65% to 35% is a good ratio. That is really what i was trying to say in my post above, but I feel like some thought I was putting all blame on coaches. Not so.....coaches and players alike have some work to do to get ready for Franklin. INDY Nation was truly in rare form, but penalties killed us last night!!!!
  13. Agreed. We definitely have some things to work on both defensively and offensively! I am not throwing Coach Eubanks under the bus, in fact I stated that coaching (last night) was part of the problem....not all of it! It may actually be more of a "communication problem" than a coaching problem, but coaching is by and large....communication. I think he and his other coaches are good. (really like the defensive coach...I think his name is Bob....he shows intensity!!!) All I am saying is morale is easy to come by and great when you are winning. I think the coaches and probably team leaders need to show this young team how to be motivated and have intensity even when they are losing. If we want the young players to rise up to be good leaders...they have to have good examples. I agree that we need some other players to step up and help Heckman. He can't do it all. Weather was an issue last night....passing game was fairly weak, I think, because of it. But because of that, we showed weaknesses in our running game. Maybe this next couple of weeks some new talent will emerge. If this turns out to be a "growing" season for us, then hopefully through practices, the coaches will see some up and coming talent that they can try out. I realize that the beginning of the year last year was similar so do I think we can improve....absolutely! (on many levels) I am not throwing anyone under the bus or throwing in the towel for this season. I know what talent lies deep on that bench! I too was in Murfreesboro and hope to be there again!
  14. Ok - as an IHS fan, my feeling is that we were outcoached last night. To me it looked like their were a few key calls in plays that made a big difference. Am I saying I believe the blame totally goes on the coaches....NO, but that's where it starts....with the coaching. One play call in question was one that many were talking about after the game. Why try to run a reverse in the end zone? Heckman to Bailey had been a struggle throughout the night. To try that in the endzone.........ridiculous! Heckman should have aired it out or they should have run a slant pass to gain some yardage.......result CHS safety! After that fiasco, IHS had to kick the ball to CHS. IHS sent their kicker on the field to kick and did not change the game plan. The kicker had been kicking short left all night to keep the ball away from CHS fast receivers....not a bad move. Not sure who coaches special teams, but to send a kicker out after the safety and not tell him to send it sailing is crazy! I actually spoke to a couple of IHS special teams players last night after the game and they said the kicker was never told to change his kick! That is a coaching issue. I hope the coaches take some responsibility for this loss. IHS was very capable of winning this game, but as I have noticed over the past few weeks, IHS has no intensity or motivation. This too could be a coaching issue. Great coaches motivate their teams and encourage them. I have the utmost respect for Eubanks and his coaches. They have proven themselves in our district. Eubanks, being a fairly new high school head coach, needs to realize that it is his job to make his team "think" they can win every game. He is molding young men's lives whether he knows it or not. I know that is a huge responsibility, but I do think he is capable of doing a great job at that. IHS may be a young team, but this is the talent of the near future. The coaches need to make sure they are motivating, teaching, and encouraging these young men. They just seem to look beaten down and to watch them on the sideline, I don't see much in the way of motivation. If this trend continues, IHS will continue on a downward spiral. My hope is that over the next 2 weeks (since we have a bye), they will work through these issues (coaches and players) and try to improve over the rest of the season. A lot of team attitude is a reflection of coach's attitudes. IHS needs to realize that and work on it!!!! Congratulations CHS on a well played game and the win. No excuses for IHS loss. Kelley went to middle school down here, so we all like to see his successes! Good luck on the rest of your season and our prayers go out for your coach! I believe the IHS talent is there. I am just concerned that the coaches (coming off of a state championship game) don't see it as that if we don't win every game. Losses are learning experiences, too. (maybe even for our coaches)
  15. Agreed - Indy along with coaches, players and their huge FAN BASE and it being the HOME season opener will win this one! Prediction - Indy by 20 There is just something about the "spirit" in that place when football is being played. Those players know that everyone in that stadium is pulling for them......
