  1. I once saw Bill Brasky hit a guy so hard, he starved to death before he stopped rolling.
  2. Bearden was young this season and i expect big things from them in 09'. I hope we keep our scrimmage from the last 3 years. It is good for us to face a program the caliber of Bearden before going into the season.
  3. Projected Lineup for 09' QB: Hunter Hale(jr.) Tee Howell(sr.) Cody Ricker(so.) will all battle for the spot but the much talented Ricker at QB would leave Howell at his best spot. I think it will end up Ricker. FB: Dee Dee Johnson with KJ Kelley getting some touches and maybe Matt Helton on Jumbo. WB: Tee Howell,Brandon Harrison,Tavin Blanton and others will see time. We will be pretty deep at this position WR: Sandifer returns and did a great job as a soph. Clark may get a few reps here as well. OL: Lynch,Yount,Penalba all return and Carmack and Haun could round out the OL with others getting good reps. On D: The Dline will bring back the Goose(chandler christian) and there will have to be some guys step up. I think the talent is there but it is just a matter of who wins the jobs. LB: Helton,Broyles and either Rutherford,Bell,or un unemerged player at the other spot. DB's Blanton and clark for sure and the other spots have the talent, we just needs to see who earns the job. In short, we bring back 5 on D and 7 on O.
  4. 08' was a great campaign for our beloved Hurricanes and a 9-3 season while being ranked top ten for most of the ride has put East on the football map. We will have alot of talent return for 09' with most of them being 3 year starters at key positions. I have found out our non-con schedule and here is how it peices together in no certain order. Cherokee I assume at home Cocke co. I assume on the road Jefferson co. Road? MoWest Considered a road game South Doyle Not sure where Sevier Co. Same Seymour Same Austin East @ BT week 0(sat game with west playing fulton in a doubleheader) @Cleveland @Anderson co. I will update this as I get more info on scrimmages, dates, spring practice, etc.
  5. They said it would be 09' before they had that in place but it is coming. GHS has a great home field.......except the parking in the endzone. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  6. To be honest, I would have gone for it too. Nothing against the kicker but he was 1 of 1 on the year and I would have "danced with the one who brung us" and gone for it. Momentum had shifted and we would have lost that game in OT. I do not blame them for going for the win.
  7. One of my sons is a starter(jr.) #40 LB Matt Helton. My other is #58 Luke Helton(so.) DE. My observation of the game is bitter. Both teams made mistakes but I can not help but feel that we could have and maybe should have won that game. 4th and 1 with JUMBO in and we sweep with our larger starting qb out and Howell in at qb? We ran that earlier in the game and I think we telegraphed that one. Give it to the big boys and let them falll forward for a yard and then worry about a TD to win. Get the yard first!!!!!!! When we blitzed on passing downs, we pressured him but we did not do it enough. I knew when we had the bad snap saftey that we had lost the game. Sad to say but based on me following this team, I knew it in my soul that we had blanked it away. We lost the part of the game played between the ears. Not every member of our team or coaching staff, just a few and that few was enough to equal a loss.
  8. Great game South!!! I will post a little more in detail later.
  9. 72 was my number. I graduated in 88' and played Oline/Dline and was a 3 year starter for my beloved canes. I have 2 boys on the squad this year.
  10. Well we aint west. We don't dress 100. We have around 55-60 players. None play both ways significantly but just in spots. We have a solid backup at every position but no deeper than that. We cover our depth by moving guys around and putting the least experienced in the mix without putting him on an island. I agree, HS football is great and Death Valley will be great friday night.
  11. I was just joking about the bulletin board. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. Another classy post!!! You know, if we come up there and win, all the classy posters who have talked smack will look like real idiots. The stuff on here ends up on a bulletin board and is very motivational stuff. My point is that you should respect your foe because there is a chance you could loose. Anybody anytime anywhere can get beat.
  13. 50/50. We have alot of guys that are just athletic and make plays when the ball is in the air. Last week against North, Howell make a great diving play on a pick in front of an open receiver. Keep in mind that some of those picks are due to good pressure from our Dline and LB's. Seals does a good job with our D. He has a pension to take away someones stud and make the rest of the team beat us. Last year and the year before, he took away Phillips passing game and against GHS, we have held Greenway to his worst 2 statistical games in a while. Sometimes it does not translate into a win like at GHS this year, We honored the pass by running a different set and got torched with the run by Hall. In 06' our D did a good job against Phillips and beat south. In 07' we took the pass away again but Fletcher beat us bad. What I am saying is that if teams have 1 guy that has had great numbers, there is a good chance his #'s will drop against east and someone else will have to step up and that is not a bad gameplan. NOW, I know that SS fans are going to say "we are so balanced" and "we are a complete team" and I am aware of that, that is why you are 11-0. I am showing respect to the GHS and SS crowd but just pointing out how we do things on D.
  14. Yes and yes. I agree that those do not seem fair but a spike is an incompletion and a knee is a rush att.
  15. Honest!!!!!! I know we had 4 against west(wills had 3) Howell had 2 @ volunteers We had at least 2 against Jeff co. At least 2 against Karns 2 against North and at least 1 in every other game. That would be that would be about right. Our corners are both 3 year starters and cover well and have good speed. Tee Howell is a ball hawk as well.
  16. I know Turner threw a pick against West and 2 at GHS. I really can not remeber another one. There may have been but I can't remember it. Prep extra stats are not accurate. Last year they had Barnette(one of our qb's) with around 19 ints and he may have had 3. The D stats are not accurate and I think the rushing stats are off as well. DANGIT BARB!!!!!!!!! You have got me researching Turners picks now and I will not be able to let it go until I find it and I have work to do. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  17. All year does not matter. How many times all year had DB been beat before? To answer your question, I would say 80/20. SS may win BUT you can't base predicting them to win by what they or their opponent has done all year. Maybe just the last few games because teams change from the start of the year to the end due to injuries, players emerging in roles and maturity.
  18. #36 Knight is 6'3 230 and runs about a 4.6 and not really on top of his game but did have a great game against North. #40 Matt Helton 5'11 235 runs about 4'8 but has good "game speed". #50 David Mcmahan 6'2 210 runs well and is a solid player. 44 on the year!! If we take care of the ball, we are fine.
  19. I have a son who plays for East and he admires the Fletcher kid for South. He was talking about last year how quick he was and he is one of those guys that you get down but you never really hit. Tee Howell is like that for us. I guess the best word for the 2 of those guys would be elusive.
