  1. And that's the final score - 90th win for Coach Derrick Davis. GO CATS!
  2. On that, I will have to get back with you - I do not have that information. What I was getting at is that Polk is always considered slow, no depth, etc. Seriously, Polk is a 2A-sized school in a 3A environment, yet they win, year after year over 3A/4A teams that, on paper, should wipe the field with them. I admit the first two games looked like heck. I wasn't able to see the Sweetwater game so I can't say one way or another. (I wish we had a radio station to broadcast Polk County Wildcat games - giving serious thought to finding out how to go about that endeavor - I design and maintain business networks/websites for a living). I guess I don't have an answer to your thoughts on Polk County's year-on-year difference, but I do have confidence that Coach Davis and the boys can do what they put their minds to. GO CATS!
  3. Blah blah blah - they say that every year...... yet Polk somehow wins the majority of their games. GO CATS!
  4. Congrats Central on your win over Meigs County! I said it two weeks ago that all is not lost and the Chargers put it together tonight. Good Job!
  5. Polk 34 Sweetwater 14 Final. GO CATS!
  6. Oh Gaaaaaaawd! And here I managed to forget about this guy from last year and the year before and the year before.............. puuuuke!
  7. Blah blah blah.... I said that about Arizona football compared to Tennessee football - they are serious here and you know what I mean about scrub teams, all states have 'em - GA was just handy.
  8. Yes and no, what happens will happen if it's going to - remember Serge Foster? Lost his leg from the knee down in a scrimmage. He was good and a stupid hit in a meaningless game ruined what could have been a promising D1 career. I need to look him up in fact, he was one of Cody's best friends, and is a great young man. Point is, stupid bad things occur in football. You hope and pray for the best, but things happen whether you're playing Alcoa or some scrub team from Georgia. Sucks but there it is.
  9. You don't improve by playing creampuffs - that would be the easy way to State.
  10. OUCH! Ya'll should be more gracious, I mean dayum! Alcoa winning is becoming passe - buy the victims some doughnuts for the ride home at least... speaking of doughnuts, does Alcoa have a dunkin donut place? Nearest from here is far, far, away.
  11. Polk 46 McMinn Central - 14 And that was more like an hour delay, second half didn't start til like 10pm. Both my boys got to play - never been so proud since Codyman started years ago, makes me smile. 2nd half was Polk JV under the mercy rule, Central scored twice and slowed things up again in the 4th. What was up with the MC cheerleader signs? The one that said "We know what you did last summer" with a square that had "State Champs" in it - we discussed this amongst ourselves (didn't figure it out, either) while the signs were blown to pieces by the wind and rain - there's a reason why we don't do the banner thing at home lol. I thought McMinn Central looked pretty good, just missing ^something*. I mean like all the pieces are there, there is talent there, so what's up? I heard folks complaining at Johnny Coe's over the summer that the Central wasn't hitting the weight room like they should have been - old time barber shops are great, you hear the most outrageous things sometimes lol. Best of luck to you the rest of the year, Chargers - you guys are like >this< close to breaking out.
  12. Not likely - ya'll are skeered of Alcoa and CAK. You know it, I know it, and everybody else knows it. Good luck (other than week 8 for obvious reasons) with the rest of your season though, I'll be watching with interest.
  13. Good Lord! SM 38 Tyner 6 One of two things here: 1. SM is for real, or 2. There's mood relaxing stuff being pumped into the SM visitor's locker room... Seriously though, is SM that good or is Tyner really down this year? Don't want rah-rah answers, please. btw: is the Kingston 106, Harriman 0 for real? Whoa! If so, somebody was mad at somebody.
  14. It's not a lack of support, more of a 'let Coach Davis breathe and work it out' kind of respect. Blathering about this and that only kickstarts the opponents and gives them something to post in the locker room day of game. I imagine some older posters have just moved on. I'll give you two examples just from my own experience: Things for me were hotter a few years ago against not McMinn Central, but to Coach Derrick himself - whom it turned out I was right about. HA! The second has/is happening this year, I wasn't even AWARE of Signal Mountain until this year and their fans are so darn obnoxious, I'm now a fan of every school on their schedule now DISCLAIMER!: Coach Price is probably a relative, but from the cracker (GA) side of the family - we don't talk, in other words lol. Moving on... GO CATS!
  15. Thank you! I figured it was a good change from the current board fascination with eating it's young.
  16. 3 yes, 3 no.... very tight voting... wonder when the absentee ballots will arrive lol. Wishful thinking: I wish we could import some Stoney's dogs... I'd even pay extra!
  17. I see we have some haters out there... worst kind too - slaw haters...
  18. As much as I like Polk County Gourmet food - BBQ (with slaw), cheeseburger (with slaw), hotdogs (yep, with slaw). I have to say Howard, best fish all-the-way sandwich on this side of the state.
  19. Rained before the game, big fat drops, wallet even got wet. Had a hamburger, a hotdog, and a coke - did think it was funny when the home restrooms were closed for most of the game. Ya'll need slaw as a condiment. We should schedule Howard, best fish sandwich all-the-way around.
  20. Meh, 30% chance of rain - either flood or stay dry in other words... 64 to 11, left turn, right at 1000 S. Lee Hwy - got it! Good luck to both teams (not so much to Bradley but to Polk..you know), going to be a great night for football. Injury-free and low penalties. Nothing better on a Friday night! GO CATS!
  21. Whoa! Really? NO WAY! lol Nobody, but nobody, shows much in these jamborees and/or scrimmages if they can help it. At best it gives teams live, moving practice dummies to hit and power through, gaining more experience and intensity than playing against their individual scout teams. Only time you see the real deal with 'up' teams is in-game - why give free lessons on how to defend or offensive plays for any particular team? Seeya on Friday! (I'll be the one in a red Polk County Wildcats t-shirt lol)
  22. Oh don't say THAT! dude.... bad juju coming your way.
  23. Word around Benton is that Coach Davis didn't decide until the next day, while mowing the field (good thinking, time of reflection), that EH must have been a fluke and he wouldn't have to murder the team that afternoon. It got their attention. Beware of EH.
  24. Ya'll look past East Hamilton, it might bite you in the behind, they have some big boys on that team that don't just stand around looking pretty. My boys tell me that one of them was a full helmet above one of our 6'5" boys - they paid attention to him lol. One more week, it starts. Good luck to everyone! (except waterboy96)
