  1. Fulton's philosophy will probably be much different this time around. The Falcons had a big, experienced offensive line last year and the best RB in Fulton history in Dennis Rogan. Fulton went to that power package in the 2nd half, lining Hamilton up at FB (6-1, 280), and just pounded away, taking control of the line of scrimmage. Fulton has some decent size up front this year, but not nearly as big as last year, and an efficient back in Terrence Cobb. However, I think Fulton will utilize the passing game much more this year since the strength of the offense lies in the receiving corps and Blair. Last year, Fulton tried to wear down the Mustangs using the size up front and running ability of Rogan, but this year, I think it will be a different story. I look for Fulton to rely more on the short passing game and try to hit DL with some big plays through the air. But, who knows? Should be a great game this year as well! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. This will be another long night for Goodpasture. I haven't seen them play personally, but I know DCA beat them and I watched the Alcoa/DCA game yesterday on TV replay. DCA struggled to even get a 1st down the entire game against the Tornadoes and I really felt sorry for DCA. It was really a "men among boys" type game. They mentioned in that game that DCA had beat Goodpasture in week 8 (fairly late in the season) and now I'm finding out on here that it was 28-7 at one point. WOW. Whether or not GP was "sleeping" or not, if the DCA team I watched on TV is the same team that beat GP, and that's ANY indication whatsoever, then Alcoa will once again have a cakewalk in Murfreesboro.
  3. Now, I would like to post on the game... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I am proud of what Fulton has been able to accomplish this season. I would be lying if I said that I thought the Falcons would make it to the Boro this season, especially after the Oak Ridge and Catholic games, but I'll be the first to admit that these guys have proved me wrong, big-time. Fulton has shown a vast amount of improvement over the year, especially in the playoffs, and are playing their best football right now, at the right time. Ruse has brought up the fact that this group of Falcons is quite different than any other group to head to Murfreesboro up to this point. In 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2006, all these teams were heavily upperclassmen laden. The 2002 group graduated like 19 seniors. The 2003 group graduated 18. The 2006 group graduated 21 seniors. This year's team is very young. The good thing about that is these youngsters play very loose and just have fun on the field, with enough senior leadership from D Hump, Tyson, V. Smith, Blair, Stokes, and Cobb to make the big plays needed to win championships. It's been a very interesting year, but it's been fun to watch this team grow and last week proved just how good this team can be when penalties are limited, and the passing game is on. On a side note....would any of the other Fulton faithful like to see more of Juan McKinney (#12)? I've noticed all year how well he's played on special teams, dishing out big hit after big hit, then came in last week against PC and came up with a great interception. I think he's a senior unfortunately, but the kid's a playmaker. I, for one, would like to see him get some action in the secondary against DL. The Falcons are loaded in skill guys and proved against Catholic that they are more than capable of stopping the run. At the beginning of the year, I thought this would be DL's year, and that is yet to be determined, but at the end of the day, Fulton may once again prove to have too much speed, too many athletes, for the Mustangs to finally win that championship that has alluded them for the past two years. I will feel bad for the Mustangs if they don't win, after all, would you want to graduate losing three straight title games? I know I wouldn't and that's why I know DL will give Fulton their best shot. Despite the pain I know DL would feel upon losing, I still hope the Falcons can bring that 4th gold ball back to Broadway and continue this dynasty in 3A! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. Big Country. You have lost all credibility on this site, at least to me, and it looks like many other posters as well. Time and time again, you act like you know what you're talking about, post these long, drawn-out, "game analysis" posts, and then end up looking stupid. I always had my doubts, but when you started acting like you knew all this information about Fulton last week and tried making me look stupid, being a Fulton graduate, about the players who graduated last year "making a difference", and turned out to be COMPLETELY wrong with your "predictions", you lost any credibility you had left. It seems like people on here are tired of you constantly coming on here, gloating about how "spectacular" Middle TN schools are (Even though they haven't beat East TN in nearly a decade) and then trash talking on behalf of whoever happens to be playing that week. I mean, seriously, last week, you came on here running your mouth about how awesome Mason & Pearl-Cohn were and they couldn't even hang with Fulton for a half of football. It was truly embarassing for Middle TN to be quite honest how bad Fulton made the Firebirds look. So, you can come on here and make all the predictions you want. Go ahead and tell everybody how much Lipscomb will dominate the Falcons with "fundamentals and discipline", because if you predict DL to win, then go ahead and ship the gold ball to Knoxville. As a matter of fact, you DL fans need to hope Country predicts Fulton. That will bring you good luck.
  5. When you go to a championship game, and lose that game, then you therefore FAIL to win that game, right? When something is not done efficiently, it fails. They lost to LA by 15, Fulton by 10. DL FAILED to beat those two teams, on that given day. No disrespect to the Mustangs. They have a great school, with a great tradition, and a great coach. I didn't mean to sound harsh, but fail simply means "to fall short of success or achievement in something expected, desired, attempted, or approved" in the dictionary. DL desired the last two State games, and they attempted, but they fell short. That word isn't harsh or too strong at all to use.
  6. Had you asked me several weeks ago....I would have had my doubts for the Falcons. However, Fulton is really hot right now and absolutely embarassed the "mighty" Pearl-Cohn Firebirds with the "spectacular" Daunte Mason. It looks like DL fought for their lives last night. Blair is coming off of his best performance of the year and the Falcons are completely healthy heading into next Saturday. I just think Fulton will prove to have too much speed and athleticism for the Mustangs this time around as well. I know DL will want it badly because of the past two years' failures, but that may not be enough to account for the difference in athletic ability. With so many good skill position guys, and how the passing game is clicking on all cylinders....I'm going with Fulton by 14 /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Go Falcons! Make it 4 out of 5!
  7. Fulton 44. Pearl-Cohn 16. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I need to say no more. The score is legitimate enough to prove Country's ignorance.
  8. Don't count on it. I came on here to wish Alcoa good luck and you have to make an ignorant comment that was completely unneccesary. Pearl-Cohn couldn't even "horse whip" White House and Station Camp, beating both by 1 TD, and failing to score more than 2 TD's in either contest. Again, good luck to Alcoa, but how someone can say Fulton will get horse whipped by a team that can't even horse whip lowly Middle TN teams is crazy.
  9. From a Fulton fan, I would like to wish the Tornadoes Good Luck! Hopefully we can see you guys in Murfreesboro again next week! I have a feeling the Falcons will have a closer contest than you guys, but hopefully we can pull it out, as well as Alcoa and Maryville, so East TN can dominate once again.
  10. Big Country. If you're going to try and make somebody sound stupid, then you can't sound stupid yourself. The fact that some guy from Cheatham County is trying to sound like he knows more about Fulton than somebody who played for Fulton the last 4 years is MORONIC. I know, smart guy, that Fulton's O-Line is different and had you read my post, I believe I clearly stated that this year's line is totally different than last year's. I'm also well aware of the fact that Rogan is gone, considering I graduated with him and wear the ring on my finger WE worked for together. I realize that you're constantly trying to defend Middle TN and you're probably bitter because East TN teams like Fulton have been whipping your Middle TN boys the past 7 years. As for last year's PC game. Sure, PC was inside the 20 on three different occasions, but that was a horrible officiated game, and I believe it was like 3:1 as far as penalties for Fulton, and penalties for PC. I know for a fact that Bubba Stokes had a TD called back on an interception on a terrible pass interference call and that we were on the 2 yard line on our final drive and decided to take a knee, taking pity on the Firebirds. Are you with Pearl-Cohn now? I mean, I know the school where you're at stinks, but seriously, to come on here and talk smack with Fulton fans on behalf of Pearl-Cohn is just sad. You're not telling me anything about Pearl-Cohn. See, I put on the helmet and pads and went toe-to-toe with the Firebirds in Nashville. I've been there, and done that. Just because you're the "record holder" for posts doesn't mean you know much about football, or at least WINNING football.
  11. You beat me to it 4 My Sister! There is no Fulton County in Tennessee. You should know the Falcons well by now, as should the rest of 3A. These "fools" from "Fulton County" you are referring to have won the State Championship 3 out of the last 4 years my man and been to the title game 4 out of the last 5, so you need to respect these "fools" you speak of. Mason saw the Falcons last year, plenty, and saw plenty of turf too. We beat them 26-12, and it could have been worse had a TD interception not been called back on a terrible call. Fulton graduated alot, but also return plenty in Humphrey, Tyson, Stokes, Cobb, and Blair. It seems like PC lost even more to graduation. One above poster spoke of experience. Well, the 5 I mentioned have been to Murfreesboro, twice. That's experience. As for the LB who's #3. He played last year and didn't want any of our O-Line. This O-Line is totally different, so he may have a good night. As for last year, all he saw was the back of Rogan's jersey after getting handled all night. You scored 14 points on White House and 13 on Station Camp. You beat them. Good for you. Fulton is no White House or Station Camp, as you will find out soon enough.
  12. Who is Cheatham County? Who said anything about them playing AE? I said the school you represent, which appears to be Cheatham County, is not within 5 TD's of Fulton. I was wrong. If it is, in fact, that "C" County you mention, then Fulton is not 5 TD's better. They would be about 7. AE looked that bad because Fulton is that good. Montgomery struggled to even complete a pass because the Falcons have the best secondary in 3A. If the Roadrunners met Cheatham County, it would get ugly.
  13. And don't think that all of Fulton's ints were "gift wrapped" from Montgomery. Fulton has the best secondary in the state in 3A, as Mason will find out. Fulton's D hasn't given up a TD in the playoffs, so their just flat-out good and nothing has been handed to them.
  14. Whatever school you represent isn't within 5 TD's of Fulton, so who are you laughing at? Anyways, Region 2-3A has been the MOST dominant region of this decade. Who cares if White House won State in 1997? I was 9 years old. Who cares if Pearl-Cohn won State in 4A in 97-98', again, I was 9 years old. Since 2001, Region 2-3A has took the title 5 out of 6 times. The lone exception was a runner-up finish in 2002 by Fulton. To be completely honest with you Big "Middle TN" Country, we always knew that once we got past the 3rd round and got out of Region 2, the State would be ours. In 4 years and many playoff games, our toughest tests always came in Round 2 & 3, playing against OUR OWN region. Our first 2 titles we won in embarassing fashion, beating Macon County and Smith County by a combined 59-6 in the Semis, and beating Covington and Greenbrier by a combined 70-15 in the Title games. Last year, the 4th & 5th rounds were tougher, but our tougest test still came at Knoxville Catholic, winning 18-13. We beat both Pearl-Cohn and DL by 2 scores. East TN owns Middle TN over the past 7 years. I would stack Region 2-3A's top 4 schools against Region 4-3A's any day of the week. Until that region can beat our region, then I will continue to say that.
  15. Yeah, in 2005 Alcoa was absolutely loaded (Brandon Warren, Dustin Lindsey & Co.) and caught Fulton in the worst possible situation the Falcons could have been in. The Falcons had lost their starting QB from the State Championship team the year, who would have been a senior, before the season due to an incident. To make matters worst, the backup QB transferred to AE right before that and would have started that year. He went on to lead the KFL in passing over at AE the next year, so Fulton was left having to start a Sophomore who had only started 2 games. To make matters even worse, that QB was kicked off the team right before the game, so Fulton had to start another Sophomore, who had NEVER started a game. Just horrible luck for Fulton to have a Sophomore making his 1st start at QB against Alcoa. Well, Fulton went on to get blasted 48-6. Alcoa was better than Fulton, sure, but with some better luck with their QB's, Fulton would have given them a much better game than that. We got revenge last year, and it was sweet.
  16. Alcoa will win it, again. Randall Cobb may be the best athlete in the state, any class. I just have a hard time thinking that anybody in 2A is within 2 TD's of the Tornadoes, and that's on an off-night. If they come out hot the next two weeks, then I feel sorry for any 2A school they face, much like I've felt sorry for Goodpasture against them the past 2 contests between the two. Alcoa doesn't quite have the talent they had last year, but still loaded. If Alcoa doesn't win state, then I'll be big-time shocked.
  17. Fulton played Alcoa last year in Blount County. The Falcons beat the Tornadoes 24-21 in a classic, and possibly one the best high school football games I've witnessed for some time. It was athletes galore all over the field. After that game, Packer on CSS made the statement that he thought Fulton would eventually be the 3A champs and Alcoa the 2A champs, and he was right. If they played this year, hypothetically, I think Alcoa would beat the Falcons. I don't think Fulton would have an answer for Randall Cobb & Co, but it will never happen anyways..... Maybe both can repeat this year in their respective classifications! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  18. Since 2001, East TN is 11-0 against Middle TN teams. In 2002, Fulton lost to Memphis Ridgeway in the championship game, so that was a West TN loss. AE went 2-0 in 01', Fulton is 7-0 the past 5 years, and LA went 2-0 in 05'. So, middle hasn't shown up yet, but this year may be different, who knows? Mason is a good QB, but it will take more than 14 points to beat Fulton.
  19. Man, what are you talking about? Yeah, we climbed the goalposts, before EVERY game, including home games. It was a way for the team to get "hype" before heading into the locker room. We did it on our own goalposts, and sure, if we were on the road, then we did it on whatever endzone we were warming up on. It wasn't disrespectful in any stretch of the imagination. We never stomped on another schools logo at midfield, EVER. That is disrespectful, not doing something in our endzone, as a team, to get ready. I'm not the only one questioning AE's tactics on here, so don't single me out. AE acted like they had never been to that stage before as a team and truly embarassed themselves. Anybody at that game knows this fact. As far as my personal life, that's none of your business and I do live in Fulton's school zone. Ignorant people like yourself in the reason why I stopped posting on this board as much as I used to.
  20. I also see where Maplewood shut the Firebirds out, 20-0. Maplewood's D could be better than Fulton's, but Pearl-Cohn didn't score on them either. It should be a great game and I'm sure Mason & Co. want some revenge from last year on their home field. I still don't understand the TSSAA's layout this year for East to travel Middle, again. I don't know why they can't just stick with swapping every year. It's not fair for Fulton to travel to Nashville, again, and have to battle behind enemy lines, again. It could be a good thing if they get to Murfreesboro however. Had Fulton played at home this week and won, then the Title game would have been the youngsters 1st trip to the midstate. IF they can get it done this week on the road in a tough environment, then they will be much better prepared for MTSU. There's no way for completely being prepared for that game in the big stadium, but it will help. I'm sure Pearl-Cohn wants it, I'm sure Fulton wants it, should be a good one. Whoever moves on, an experienced, extremely hungry David Lipscomb team will be waiting, but one game at a time.
  21. I was referring to Daunte Mason's brother, who played wide receiver last year before moving on to North Carolina to play college ball. He was super tall (6-6) and hard to stop. I know how tough their LB's were last year and we did a really good job blocking them, but this O-line for Fulton is completely different, so I'm not sure if they'll be held in check this year or not.
  22. There's a difference in being competitive and just being disrespectful. If AE would stop acting like fools and go out and actually compete on the gridiron, then they might would have a shot at beating a Fulton. I like how the Falcons were all business and got it done. Fulton doesn't need to do that foolishness to win football games and the coaching staff over there won't allow it. Graham needs to get his ballclub in check.
  23. "Overly impressive" football teams don't lose 30-0 in the playoffs, EVER. Winning some regular season games is nice and all, but ask Knoxville Catholic what it will get you in the playoffs. What happens in November is what matters. You may get a nice little plastic trophy at a banquet for winning 9 games and getting blasted in the playoffs. Just because teams within the same region are competitive with one another, doesn't make it a tough region. Teams from that region NEVER win State. Tough regions can get it done come playoff time.
  24. Pearl-Cohn has yet to see a defense like Fulton's this year, I can promise you that. Seeing that they've been struggling to put up alot of points against schools like Station Camp, Greenbrier, and White House, I just think it will be THAT much tougher against Fulton, who has more speed than any of those teams. Mason is good, but it will take his absolute best effort to beat the Falcons. I just wish it was in Knoxville this year, but it is what it is. If Blair is on for Fulton, they have a good shot to get back to the Boro, if not, they can maybe get past the Firebirds, but it won't be easy.
  25. Yeah, it's only a "chop block" if you engage up-top first, then go for the legs. Watch college and pro games. The O-Linemen, especially tackles, take D-Linemen's legs out all the time. Perfectly legal block, as long as you initially go at the legs first. As for Sterling, another Harrison Smith over at Catholic. Good High School football player who couldn't get it done in the playoffs.
