  1. My comment about my son had to do with his conduct as a player and a person on and off the field. And, yes, I have a very good "clue" as to what takes place on the field, court, etc. etc. both as a long-time player and son/brother of high school/college football coaches. So, please don't make the leap that people are clueless and uninformed as to the ways of the sports world. Been there/done that many times! Lastly, no one was attacking your ideas. You started your response apologetically then decided to rant some more. Which is it? I never defended/accused either side just made some statements based on my experience!
  2. The difference is that the players/coaches are held to a higher standard than the fans. That has always been the case at every level. If it were not the case you would see a constant repeat of the Ron Artest/Indiana/Detroit debacle in the stands every night. The Raptor football team has nothing to do with the chants/actions of the students at the school. The Raptor coaches monitor the actions of their PLAYERS only. They too are not responsible for the action of the fans, parents, opposing players, etc. Also, during the regular season and playoff games, fans are allowed on the field after a game. Not allowing fans on the field would have prevented the confrontation with the fans/Smyrna players during their regular season meeting. Preventing fans on the field in the first place would have prevented this whole "mess" from happening and escalating. Lastly, quit throwing stones(calling students thugs, etc.) at glass houses. All involved need to take responsibility and quit pointing fingers and placing blame outside their house. My son was on the field and has never acted like anything but a true sportsman(or he would not be playing). Simple as that...Does that make him better or worse than others, NO. It means he is living up to an expectation. Something we all need to do in our lives at some point!!!!
  3. Both teams throw the ball very well and should not have a problem on Saturday. Also, both of these teams run the ball well and that balance on offense makes them both tough to defend. Game will probably come down to defense and special teams in the end. Two of the best junior QB's in the state on the big stage!!!
  4. MTSU has a brand new field as of this season, FieldTurf. The field will be perfect for both teams on Saturday and won't have an impact on the game. Weather forecast is dry and chilly with little wind to deal with...Good luck to both teams. They deserve our respect and support for making it to the BORO...
  5. Didn't need to be reminded about that game!!! But it woke our team up and helped make us a better.
  6. Here's the thing...Memphis fans have always been very respectful(gracious!) on these boards when discussing their team and their opponent. It was true with Ridgeway last year in the semifinals and with White Station this year. We(Ravenwood) play a hard, clean game with no trash talking. Our fans (all our fans) should follow the example set by our players/coaches. Best of luck to White Station tomorrow. We look forward to playing the team that will represent Memphis.
  7. Cheers to you Mikey for owning up to your prediction. It is rare for someone to come back and say, "I missed this one". Those close to the program knew what we had as a group of players/coaches but never what to expect week-to-week. This was a great team effort to win three playoff games(on the road) but still want to be able to compete for the gold ball for the second year in a row. Wish us luck in winning "two more"...
  8. Smyrna can have that slogan. It does not apply to Ravenwood. "We Believe" was started during our run to the championship LAST year and continues this year.
  9. best linebackers in the region are cleckner and frohock!!!
  10. Going to be in the high 60's on Friday...See you at the game and bring along BOO!
  11. Terrible oversights on these two guys and a few others. Typical of any all-area teams that some deserving people get overlooked while others still thrive on reputation(see Campbell).
  12. Thanks Stuman for the help. We appreciate it and look forward to a well-played game on Friday. Sorry no one has helped give you any insight on our team but not much to say. You get this far and you know that you've got your hands full no matter who you play.
  13. No reason to hate me CHS...you made the silly statement about whether anyone else had a chance against the Owls and my answer was a resounding YES!! You being a Centennial fan with an unrealistic view(remember the quote, "CHS should have half the All-Region slots with the talent they have"). Come back to reality and realize that Ravenwood, White Station and Smyrna are all viable contenders for the title. The Owls are a very good, undefeated team (remember Gallatin) that is beatable. Last, but not least, Ravenwood was far from the favorite in last years championship game against Oak Ridge. After OR beat "mighty" Riverdale, everyone thought that they would walk all over Ravenwood. Good luck in your search for a head coach. I suspect that Gregory did not purposely try to lose 9 games last year with the "great" talent you had at CHS.
  14. Don't forget the huge win in the Spring Scrimmage against Ravenwood!
  15. They finished the year 1-9...my sarcastic way of saying that our respective schools and Smryna have a very good chance of beating the mighty Owls.
