  1. This is from a non-biased bystander that was at the game. The refs did call a tight game. Madison is really good at appearing to get fouled whether they do or not. Once a couple of fouls were called tight, Bradford got frustrated and fouled some more. Bradford looked to be the more talented team, but Madison coach Patterson seem to make better moves. Madison was in foul trouble also and he just constantly shifts girls in and out to keep them out of foul trouble. Madison is also a senior-laden team that knows what to do when they get a lead. There were multiple possessions that they made 15 or more passes, I know because I counted some of them. Madison has Faulkner and that alone will keep them in any game. If you think back to the end of the half, where Bradford took an ill-advised shot with 13 or so seconds and Madison comes down and hits a three to take the lead going into half time... this changed the whole game. Yes, there were some fouls that were called that shouldnt have been and some that werent called, but they are human and going to make mistakes. Neither team shot free throws very well at all. Bradford... how many turnovers did you have?? how many missed free throw??? If they were really trying to cheat you out of a game, do you really think it would have been a six point game? Again, part of Madison's game is to get in your head and one way they do that is making it look like they get fouled, whether or not they do. It was apparent from the beginning that they were going to play physical... yet no adjustment made when it was called tight and were still trying to drive through the lane... knowing a charge would prob be called... also on defense with a constant hand check and reaching. Congratulations to both teams on a sub state berth. Madison found a way to win and thats something they have done all year.
  2. Does anyone know the dates and location for this??
  3. District 15-A Girls 1. Madison Academic 2. TCA 3. Adamsville 4. Scotts Hill 5. Riverside 6. JCS Tournament Schedule 2/16 #6 JCS @ #3 Adamsville 7:00 #5 Riverside @ #4 Scotts Hill 7:00 2/19 @ Adamsville # 2 TCA vs. #3 - #6 winner # 1 Madison vs. #4 - #5 winner 2/23 @ Adamsville Consolation Championship
  4. What are your thoughts on how District 15- A is shaping up and how far can they go?
  5. I had no dog in this fight but I was there to watch. Here are some of my thoughts as a neutral bystander. I feel Humboldt had the better team with talent all over the place. I feel that Lake Co had the best player, they just did not do a good job getting the ball in his hands when Humboldt decided to play half-court defense. Lake Co put Avery handling the ball and passing over the trap and it allowed for #12 to shoot shots inside 3 ft against the press all night. Humboldt then tried a zone and Avery slashed the middle and kicked out for easy shots. Humboldt finally got stops when they decided that they went 1/2 ct man and pressured every player with the ball. Humboldt on offense has two players that can really go (#32 and #34), I believe that is Crayton and Taylor. I feel like Lake Co used their press effectively the few times they used it, although they probably could have used it more. I think that #30 from Lake Co refused to accept that he wasnt hitting and just kept shooting and kept shooting. Sometimes your shot is not falling find another way to get going, however, he did hit abig shot in the waning moments. Lake Co only really played 5 players, with a 6th coming in very shortly. When Humboldt bore down and ran an offense, I feel like they got a good shot, but that didnt happen too much, they just wanted to try to do their thing and score. I feel that both teams are capable of playing better as it was a very sloppy game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. I like how #22 (Tyler) from Lake Co handled things, I jsut think he tried to do toooooooo much. I think the difference in the game was the effort and work from #31 from Humboldt on the boards. Look for this battle to happen 3 more times, and I recommend people being there to watch. Just don't count on being there though. When tournament time comes, anything can happen and Middleton and Manassas have good teams too that you will have to face come sub-state if you make it there.
  6. This was a good game. It seemed that Lake Co could just not get over that hump, everytime they made a move, Humboldt, especially #33 answered. Lake Co took some ill advised shots and it hurt them. Flowers is definately a good player, she was all over the floor. She is very quick and can see the floor. She will be a special player, esp if she gets comfordable with the ball in her left hand. This was a great environment for a game, it felt like tournament time.
  7. Can someone post the schedule for the Martin Westview Lions Club Tournament? They usually have some good teams there.
  8. Does anyone know the score of the game on December 6??
  9. Once again, TCA played in another close game. Congrats to both teams on a game well played. Gleason knew TCAs weaknesses and attacked right where they should. TCA provided their fans a very exciting season. Remember that you were not supposed to win your region or beat JCS or beat Lexington. You found ways to do things that people never thought you could do and you fought to the very very end. The seniors at Trinity have a lot to remember and take with them from a bad season their freshman year to two great years (one going to the quarter finals) in the middle to being labeled the cardiac kids as seniors. You have been part of building a tradition at TCA. Underclassmen, and there was a lot on the field... remember that bitter feeling of losing and work hard in the offseason and get ready for next year. Again, Congrats to Gleason on a big win and good luck the rest of the way.
  10. This might be the closest first round to call in recent history. I don't think we can expect blowout anywhere. All 4 games look to be good games, with the low seed having the chace to upset. Good luck to all!!!
  11. Yeah, because if you lose, youll go into hiding and everything calms down around these boards. It will be tough for ya'll to go to Memphis and come away with a win, but you do have a team that can do it. The Gleason folk don't have to say anything, because you do enough for all of Region 7.
  12. Butchie, you can say what you want( which is usually what you do anyway.) Manassas, Lexington, and JCS are all solid teams. Lexington is in 3A playoffs and JCS made it in to the 2A playofffs. So that gives TCA two wins against bigger division teams in the playoffs which is more than Gleason and even your precious little Rebels can say. Good try though. I look for TCA to be ready after a lackluster performance in Halls. If TCA comes ready to play I see a 10 point win. Both teams run the Wing T, so they should know how to stop it, it just now depends on who makes the plays. TCA will have plenty of support at Windy City. Looks to be an interesting Friday night to get things started. WIN OR GO HOME!!!! TCA 31 Gleason 20
  13. I know TCA would definitely host all the way through the quarters. As far as the semis, it rotates between Regions 5-6 and 7-8. I cant remember who had it last year ( I think McKenzie hosted so therefore it would go to the winner of the Region 5-6 part of the bracket.) Look for a lot more fans to get to see exciting games on Windy City Rd.
  14. What the tiebreaker scenarios for Region 7? How will it end up after this week?
  15. freak... you are absolutely right, they did not shut down King by any means. What they did is stop him on a few plays that really counted. I pointed earlier that King is a great back and I personally think the best that TCA has seen all year. Congrats TCA on a big win. This should bode you well heading into the playoffs.
  16. Are you implying that TCA is paying off the refs?? Now this is ignorant... if this were the case the games would not be decided by one or two points. I believe if you go back to the Manassas game it was like that on both sides and Manassas got a couple of holding calls( a call that could be made every play) when they were trying to pass, something that dont do very much. If a team is used to run blocking the whole game and then try to pass block when they are not firing up field as much it is easy to think that the defender is getting past you and try to stop them. Most teams that are 90% run get holding calls when they try to pass. Also, in the Fayette game, if it was suspect officiating, then what about the call on Fayette's last drive when the kid stepped out of bounds and then caught the pass and then got hit and didnt look like he has possession... Oh wait they gave him the catch with no illegal touching called and the ball at the 1. Starting a thread like this is ridiculous and takes away from the kids did on the field. I do not believe that a ref will ever cost you a game. You are probably looking for an excuse and this is the easiest way for you to do it. Do what you are supposed to and those calls wouldnt make or break your game. Every single game that has ever been played will have at least one bad call... they are human and they make mistakes.
  17. Ok BigRed, you have kindled a fire here. Yes 1A does not usually have the size and numbers of the bigger classification, that is why they have the classification system in the first place. What you cant say is that TCA has not seen the athletes that Lexington. You named a bunch of teams like Maryville and Henry Co in which neither of these teams would be within 30 points. If this was true, how did TCA go to Lexington and win big last year?? A 1A team can have athletes and good teams will find ways to compete. Also, you brought Humboldt into the argument. Let's see... ya'll lost to Humboldt and TCA beat a team that beat Humboldt 44-7. TCA plays bigger schools because they know it provides better competition. As for the game, as I said earlier it will be close. Lexington is a run-dominated team and that is only going to make the clock go faster. I havent seen Lexington's running back but I seriously doubt he is as good as James King from Manassas who is big and fast. TCA is well-balanced and have a great kicker to go along. If TCA can get their offense on the field and keep their defense from getting tired late, TCA could pull off the win against the "much bigger, much faster" Lexington team. TCA will be ready and they will play hard every play. TCA 38 Lex 35
  18. volsguy im pretty sure it would look like this if that were to happen. Manassas @ UC FA @ TCA
  19. Well basing anything off of they did this to them is crazy. Every Friday night is a new day and anything past 3 tds is all really the same to me. The only thing you really can compare is head to head. Halls (Region 8A # 4) topped two teams in 7A vying for a spot. ( Halls 32 - Gleason 27 Halls 33 - 0) Fayette topped a West Carroll team that will be the bottom of 7A 34 - 0. So if you are compare using scores and say which region is better then you would have to say 8A is because their #4 beat 7A's # 3 ( now I know that number could change.) My point is that those scores dont really matter. Home field is definitely going to play a factor in all this. Nobody wants to have to go down to the city of Memphis and play Manassas, that takes almost any possibility of having a lot of fans there. Union City and McKenzie are known for their fan base and TCA always has a good crowd.
  20. Thank you!!! This debate would just go in circles and it just depends if you are rooting for a private school or public school. Nobody wants to stop and think about both sides. Anyway, I do not see McKenzie and Union City in the quarters, although it very good happen. I don't think that any of the teams are good as TCA from last year and especially not as good as McKenzie was last year. Either way, I think that every round will be interesting. I think the most intriquing match-up will be UC v. Manassas with speed all over the field in the second round if both teams win. Also, the Fayette / McKenzie game will be good to get things started. I do not see any game being a for sure no matter what happens. Its hard to predict anything right now because 7A won't be decided until week 10 probably, but that makes high school football fun when every single game matters. I wish West Tn the best of luck.
  21. Well if we have learned anything from TCA this year is that they are going to play to the buzzer sounds. Last year TCA went to Lexington and controlled the game from the start. This year might be a little different. Lexington is much bigger than TCA, which will only prepare them for the playoffs. Both teams have playoff spots locked up and look to be ready to make decent runs in the playoffs. Lexington beat Chester County by 7 who in turn beat TCA by 7. If TCA can contain the big physical running then they will be ok. Lexingtom seems to pass more than Chester County and that plays to TCA's favor with their secondary, they just seem to get their hands on balls that they shouldn't. A win here for TCA will propel them for a deep run. Good luck to both teams.
  22. Looks to be a great round of playoffs. I agree that either TCA or Fayette make a strong # 3. Manassas will be 9-1 and #2 seed, that pretty good if you ask me. I dont think it will be a sweep though, it will be hard for Halls to go up to Union City and get a win. Also, McKenzie has been here and they know how to move on. 8A will be determined by one game tonight (TCA vs Fayette) while 7A has a lot of shuffling left to do. 7A might not be decided until the Saturday after week 10 and coin flip breaks the tie.
  23. Well you know that TCA is going to play a close game. They truly are the cardiac kids. A TCA win means Region championship for them. A Fayette win means a 3-way tie among the top, and thats always a mess to figure out. Ill take TCA in this one as Fayette doesnt seem to be as big and powerful as the teams that have beaten TCA, although they are coming off a great win against DCA. It should be another great one on Windy City Rd.
  24. The kids will definitely be up for this game. Although the rivalry has gotten a lot closer over the years, I don't know if this will be the year that it changes. If TCA can contain the throwing game and make some tackles, it will be another close one for them. Looks like if you want excitement in high school football and late game rallies, you should turn to the TCA game wherever it might be. Good luck to both teams!!
