  1. Congrats to Maryville! Awesome game. Congrats to Hillsboro also; you have much to be proud of.
  2. I agree about the improvement as I stated in my post. I am looking forward to a good game with a Burro victory.
  3. Hillsboro played Tullahoma which runs a spread offense. THS's QB was a Mr. Football Finalist. Tullahoma fell behind 28-14 by the fourth quarter but made a very good comeback to score 2 TD's in the last 4 minutes of the game. THS decided to go for tie instead of win and took Hillsboro into overtime; only to lose in one O.T. by a 35-28 margin. THS's QB had a very good night with 330 yards passing. THS had 111 yards rushing. Total of 441 yards. So a good spread offense can give Hillsboro problems. That was just the second game of the season and Hillsboro got much better as the season progressed but last year (2005) THS handed Hillsboro their only regular season defeat with the same offense and QB. That said; I am still pulling for the Burros; region loyality.
  4. Sorry am at work and didn't look at the name.
  5. Not trying to get into an argument but it does not cost a program the same amount each year to outfit a player.........worn out equipment has to be replaced but not all equipment is replaced each year. I do see your point. NP Just didn't understand why you needed loss defined.
  6. It does cost to "outfit" a player you know. Approx. $800 per player. Let's see now THS had approx. 80 players on the field; therefore that cost alone would be over $60,000. Then there is the upkeep of the field, cost of electricity, etc.. Yes the Support club does help out but you still need to have a good gate, which is split with the other sources. Most of the Nashville teams bring about 100-200 people to an away game like Tullahoma. I have seen this last year; less than 100 on the visiting side. However Coffee County and Franklin County games are standing room only. Shelbyville usually fills the visitor stands. If THS has an average of 1500 people in the "off" years; this is a gate of only around $53,000. I believe this might be a loss. The three games mentioned above bring in half again that much by themselves!
  7. TY for the luck. Gate revenues probably played a great part in the decision. On years that Coffee County, Franklin County and Shelbyville play at THS in the same year; they have a profitable year. On the following year when these are away; they lose money. To play Lincoln County and other more "local" rivals at home on the "off" years would be a benifit.
  8. I could be wrong on the scheduling but that is what the players were told. As for the 5A move; that was from the horses mouth. Which horse I won't say.
  9. NP just did not know where you were going. I am sorry if I seemed to take it wrong. TY for the info. Yes I believe that is usefull info. But needs to be carried out with info on strength of schedule etc. of the opponents to be more conclusive. I know both teams are caplable of winning the game. I respect Maryville and believe they are a heck of a team. If Hillsboro is to beat them; they must play mistake free football and capitalize on any mistakes by Maryville. And not make mistakes to help Maryville. I am pulling for Hillsboro; not against Maryville. Whoever wins deserves credit and respect from all of us.
  10. Why did you reply to my post with this????????? All I said on my post was I wished everybody sized up the game as the gentleman in the post I had replied to. I didnt pick one team over the other or even make a comment on either team. What is up with you?
  11. I wished everyone took your approach to sizing up a game.
  12. Why dont you both read and quote the whole post? You are just as ignorant as you say I am. Heck you are ranting and raving as much as I but because you are from east Tenn, it must be logic not ranting. If you took the time to read the whole post you will see I said all that you said about the awesome string Maryville put together. I also stated that my post was not directed at the complete fan base. I see reading comprehension is not taught in east Tenn. I am not answering anything else about this post as pathetic and ignorant people (the ones quoted above; not all Maryville fans) never see or read but what they want to. You can have the last word .... I don't have to as I have made my statement and I also stated that both teams deserved to be where they are and be proud of their seasons.
  13. Not everyone "wants Maryville to lose"; I do not wish Maryville to lose. I am pulling for Hillsboro due to region loyalty. I am very impressed with Maryville's history and success and think the fans should be proud of them. I am sorry if you perceived my post as all Maryville fans. It was directed at the ones who stated " If anyone picks Hillsboro to win they are a fool. Hillsboro shouldn't even show up. This will be a run away. Maryville 35 Hillsboro 13" or " This will be a close gane(sic) at first but Maryville will pull away by the 2nd quarter and the second and third teams will be in in the end of the 3rd and all of the 4th." I see ony a 11 point, two 14 point and a 4 point prediction by Hillsboro fans; with no arrogant remarks or downgrading of Maryville mentioned in any post. I didn't come "unglued"; I just hate arrogant people. This shows how much class those individuals have. It also reflects on all Maryville fans; therefore you should be offended that they are trying to represent you.
  14. It always amazes me how people will pick their team to beat or blow out another team that they have never seen play or know very little about or use 2 to 3 year old history as their base for their prediction. I am pulling for Hillsboro to win the game and have seen them play and know their region competition very well. I have not seen Maryville play but do know their long history of success. I know to get this far in the season; they are a very good team but the same has to be said for Hillsboro. To make a prediction of a 3-4 TD win (35-13 and 45-14) by Maryville people is very arrogant and I sincerely hope that these people do not have close contact with Maryville's players; as such arrogance could rub off on these young men and cost them the game. That would be a shame. I look forward to a good game and hopefully a Hillsboro win. I know that Hillsboro is VERY capable of winning this game but I am not arrogant enough to make rash predictions. I also know that to beat Maryville; Hillsboro must bring their A game; as must Maryville to beat Hillsboro; No-matter which team wins; both should be proud of what they accomplished this year.
  15. 21-0 Hillsboro. Half time. HC did a good goal line stand inside the 10 with under a minute in the half to not allow another TD.
  16. THS picked up Lincoln County for next year in week zero and had to move the Maplewood game from a home to an away game to move the schedule around some. This will result in a 4 home game six away game schedule for THS.
  17. I have from a TOP THS authority that yes THS will be 5A at next restructuring in two years.
  18. NP; Wish you all luck Friday but will be pulling for the Burros due to region loyalty. Let's look forward to a injury free and good game.
  19. Quote from post by Red Warrior on 11/20/2006 at 8:51 AM " And what do you base this on? Is it the WEAK schedule that Hillsboro plays? I am not saying that it's their fault, it is just a weak region".
  20. I agree with playing them on the field; just took offense to the put down of the team from our region. Thanks for the explaination.
  21. You know; I don't know CoachT's formula for it's strengh of schedule rating. It may be extremely accurate or it may not be. I will say this about each team's schedule however using CoachT's own rankings: Hillsboro played 3 5A teams with ratings of 7, 18 and 25 and won all three games; HC played 2 5A's with ratings of 24 and 52 and lost both. Therefore: Hillsboro had two teams with ratings higher than HC's top rated team and all three of Hillsboro's were rated higher than HC's second team! Let's look at 4a now: Hillsboro rankings of 7, 12, 28, 30, 32, 45 and 52. HC's rankings were 24, 25, 26, 43, 44 and 48. This shows that Hillsboro had a 7 to a 24, a 12 to 25, a 28 to 26, 30 to 43, 32 to 44, 45 to 48 and an extra 4A at 52; because Hillsboro DID NOT PLAY UNDER THEIR CLASS. Results for 4A: Hillsboro's opponents were higher ranked in 5 of 6 games! Let's look at 3A now HC's opponents were ranked 7 and 49 and Hillsboro's opponent's were ranked .... oh yeah HILLSBORO DID NOT PLAY LOWER CLASSIFICATIONS. How when comparing CoachT's own rankings can you think that HC had a tougher schedule? Let's look at the strengh plus success rankings now; but let me show you this quote from CoachT's own rankings page "The Strength + Success ranking takes that raw opponent average and adds the team's own win percentage. Teams that perform the best against opponents with high win percentages rank higher." Hillsboro had teams with the following rankings: 5A: 21, 28 and 60. HC: 24 and 52. Hillsboro had a 21 to 24, 28 to 52 and an extra 60. Therefore in two games Hillsboro had higher ranked teams than HC. 4A: Hillsboro had teams with 7, 21, 23, 31, 42, 51 and 57. HC had 19, 27, 30, 32, 39 and 40. Comparing HC to Hillsboro shows Hillsboro had 7 to 19, 21 to 27, 23 to 30, 31 to 32, 42 to 39 and 51 to 40. Hillsboro had higher rankings with four opponents and HC with 2. Therefore Hillsboro had a 4 to 2 margin here. 3A: Hillsboro"s numbers ..... OOPS; HILLSBORO DID NOT PLAY LOWER CLASSES. So using CoachT's own rankings: I do not know how CoachT formulates it's rankings but using their own numbers; it does not agree with those rankings you keep quoting. OOPS .. the water holder has sprung a leak! And yes I do believe it will be a good game as HC is a good team but I take offense to the remarks about the Hillsboro weak schedule. I am not a Burro backer but am a region 5 backer.
  22. The "weak" region you speak of had a 10-0 team, a 9-1 team, a 7-3 team, a 6-4 team and a 5-5 team for the top five spots. Your region had 7-3, 6-4, 6-4, 5-5 and 4-6 for their top five. Now before you start the "Our region is tougher; that's why our records aren't as good"; let's look at it. Only Munford and HC had more than 2 wins in region 7 or a region winning record. Therefore only two teams dominated the region standings. This doesn't hold the up the tough region claim. Hillsboro's region had 5 teams with a winning region record and 4 wins or more in the region. As for outside conference games; Hillsboro won 3 non-conference games against 5A schools; two went to the playoffs with winning records. HC played 2 5A's and lost both, 2 3A's and lost one and won one, One 4A and won it 17-6 against a 5-5 team. How do you call region 5 a weak region when region 7 can't hold a candle to it statisticially? Your agrument just won't hold water.
  23. Congrats to Hillsboro on an awesome win. Congrats to Clarksville for an awesome season. Burros all the way.
  24. Just wanted to say that I am impressed with this thread; no malicious put downs or other un-needed posts. Just good give and take. I am a supporter of Region 5 so am going for the Burros but have to give credit where credit is due and Clarksville is playing good ball at the right time. Think it will be a good game with the Burros on top.
  25. What freakin part of "I was implying that they did not lose to MJ but had it taken from them without a chance to win or lose to MJ. As MJ found out the hard way .. it isnt easy to win without a little help by the stripes." do you not understand. Dont they teach reading comprehension in Mount Juliet????????? You just prove with each of your replies what I stated in my last post. You read only what you want to read and see only what you want to see. And are yet to say that Tullahoma is a good team. Class Act. Congrats on the playoff wins to region 6. Hope both regions are strong again next year. See you then.
