As far as Bearden is concerned, all 30 girls are getting rings. However, each family is responsible for the cost of the rings with some help from generous donors. There was never a question of who would get a ring. They did everything as a team including all traveling, all dressing out for all games, varsity required to be on the sidelines of all JV games, etc. Everyone contributed in one way or another, so all are very deserving of a championship ring.

#24 Emily Bithorn plays forward for Bearden and sweeper for her club team. #30 Chelsea Hunt no longer plays due to injury. #66 Greta Jockman does not play for Bearden.

SO well said, and thank you! That's the kind of losing with grace I'm talking about. You guys, as always, had a great season. Congratulations!

There's something I've just got to say. I find it so interesting that no one, not once has acknowledged the amazing accomplishment of Bearden's championship run. You've bashed the coach, style of play, bad refs, etc. But the bottom line is Bearden's win totally caught the pundits on this board off guard. Oh, there was talk of Siegel, Hendersonville, or Collierville coming away with the crown. But never was Bearden considered a real contender. But through alot of talent, alot of heart, and yes, a little luck, they came to Chattanooga as a 7th ranked team and systematically defeated the top 3 teams in the state. In my somewhat biased opinion, that is what we should be discussing here. Give this team the credit they deserve for a hardfought win.

Before you chastise me again, I want you to know that I sat back, took a deep breath, and collected my thoughts prior to this reply. I am a long-time reader of this messege board. and until your comment , I have hardly ever felt the need to comment, but just to read, get info, and enjoy. But your obvious slam of Eric Turner was totally unnessessary. Whether you agree with his style of play or not, the man has two state champ teams right now. Give him and his girls team a little bit of credit for beating the number 1,2, and 3 teams in the state. I assumed your comment about the refs had to do with the championship game since this particular thread is about that topic. I just don't see the point in name calling, thus my prior "sore loser" comment.

Are you a sore loser, or what? I attended the championship game and saw it quite differently. Tell me what team doesn't shift to defensive play and "pack the box" when they have the lead? As far as ref help, Collierville had 10 fouls to Bearden's 9 w/ no PK's. Not alot of difference. Whatever strategy Coach Turner uses, it obviously works quite often. Congratulations Bearden!

I'm not quite sure what all of this has to do with Bearden putting together a hardfought, superb run for the AAA crown... except to say that they do have a lot of good club players and a coach who must know something about the game since his leadership helped Bearden win both boys and girls championships in 2006.

It's actually Bearden's third time to state. last time was 2001 - final four.
