  1. CPA is guilty of recruiting. They recruited one of the best young coaches in Coach Maddux. He believes in his players and it shows in the way they play the game. On paper CPA should be one of the weaker teams in the District but thats why the games are played, because statistics on paper don't have the desire, passion and will to win that Coach Maddux has instilled in his players.
  2. I was stunned when I saw this score. What was the big difference in this game as opposed to other big games DL has played this year?
  3. I can tell you there are no sour grapes here and I actually thought Slater was one of the few DL players that did show some class. The majority of the DL players trash talked the CPA players the entire game, Slater was not one of them, maybe that was there game plan to try and intimidate a younger opponent, whatever the reason not much class as far as I am concerned. I really can't see how DL could come out of this game feeling good about there performance. For 6 to 8 minutes of the second half CPA was playing with 1 starter on the floor and still CPA had the lead up until two minutes to go in the game. I really did not see the CPA guards getting dominated. Clayton was averaging 18 a game and was held to 7. Slater was the only DL player in double figures. The CPA point guad played the entire game and held his team together when the other starters were out.
  4. First off I am sure David Lipscomb is not looking past Thursday's game with Pearl Cohn, however when that game ends it gets real fun. This should be an interesting game. The pressure is on David Lipscomb. They have more experience, more depth, and are expected to win. CPA starts 4 sophomores that bring a lot of heart and determination and a desire to win and are not afraid to dream big. You would think CPA has everyting to gain and little to lose, but I guarantee you if you ask the CPA players, they believe thay can win this game and will not take a loss lightly. Thats what makes this a most intriguing game. Can't wait to see it. Good luck to both teams.
  5. Whether Josh Slater can dunk or not has nothing to do with the kind of player he is or the inconsistent play of Lipscomb. I just know Lipscomb was on a roll there before Christmas, but recently struggled against two teams that are struggling themselves this year.
  6. The humiliation that I am talking about can be verbally or physical. I know one coach in particular that if one of his player makes a mistake he will verbally humiliate and embarass his player with comments that have nothing to do with correcting his mistake or helping the player understand what he did wrong. His method of coaching is to humiliate the player in hopes he will play better and not repeat the same mistake. My thing is 99% of the time the kids are not going on the court making mistakes on purpose, as misguided as many of the mistakes they make are, they are not intentionally trying to make them. I just have to believe there are better ways of teaching the game than humiliation.
  7. I'm sorry but if a coach uses humiliation as a coaching tool, he has no business coaching. There is a huge difference between humiliation and discipline. I absolutely believe in strict discipline and sometimes that may require raising your voice. But degrading and humiliating a kid has no place in sports. I don't care how many of you tough love parents and coaches are out there, I've seen too many great players shut down because the coach humiliated them. I was told once by a coach that I have great respect for that he always told his players don't embarass or humiliate me and I will never do the same to you. I always used that as a guide in my coaching. Coaches that humiliate their players rarely if ever will ever get the maximum performance out of their players. Just my opinion for what it is worth.
  8. What happened to Lipscomb against Goodpasture and Ezell. They drill Livingston and barely squeak out wins against weak GP and Ezell teams.
  9. It turned into a barn burner. UC 90 - 88. Final Score.
  10. I have a friend at the game. He is from Ensworth and he has been very impressed with UC.
  11. UC 80 - 71 with 5 1/2 minutes left in the game
  12. I heard UC was up 51 - 46. But I don't know where they are in the game.
  13. Again, my last comment says it all. The only thing holding back Ensworth is the coaching staff. If you have thouroughbreds you let them run, otherwise it will be a long and frustrating season for Ensworth and they probably will get drilled in this tournament.
  14. I know 3 players from Ensworth, Miles Asafo-Adjei, Tavarres Jefferson and Gary Pope, have played against the best teams in the nation. Their AAU team placed 5th in the nation this past year and I guarantee you they can handle whatever pressure any team in the state has. The only thing that will hold them back is the style of play that the Ensworth coaching staff wants them to play.
  15. Anyone who watches CPA play will see that Coach Maddux has a great passion for the game and his players. I would be proud to have my son follow in Drew's footsteps. As far as recruiting goes 3 of the 4 sophomore starters have been at CPA since kindergarten. Zeke Mason came in the 7th grade and the only senior starter I believe has been there since kindergarten as well.
  16. How good are the sophomores Puckett and Mitchell for White County?
  17. I have been fortunate to see nearly all the players on here listed and I must agree that they are all great players and will do their schools and their state proud. Everyone likes to pick out the great offensive players but in my opinion the absolute best sophomore defensive player in the state would have to be Miles Asafo-Adjei of Ensworth.
  18. CPA's Center, Zeke Mason has a slight fracture in his left wrist. Is expected to miss maybe two weeks tops.
  19. Ensworth has some of the top sophomores in the state. They will bring speed, quickness and defense.
  20. I have seen quite a few of the sophomores in Tennessee from one end of the state to the other and the bottom line is the sophomores that play for the AAU Memphis Y War Eagles and the AAU Tennessee Tigers from Nashville have dominated their class year end and year out.
