  1. I agree 100%; I know 1 of those types of coaches that was coaching on that staff a few years ago. He was told to lighten up w/ the players and not be so hard on them, the guy did not come back the next season. It is like I said b/4, I have nothing against Coach Offutt bt I really care about this football program and him electing to say really dissappoints me. I believe a change is needed for a turn around to occur and it starts w/ a change at head coach.....
  2. Everybody just quit responding to this tool and it all will end, I guarantee it. This is my last post on the issue.....
  3. My comment was not suggesting you needed my approval; just an observation.....
  4. Wow, surely you are not a teacher b/c this is similar to the rant of a 15-16 year old. I believe a better example should be put foward if you work in the school system.....
  5. I actually disagree; I believe this will be a very good football game but the 2 losses against Frnaklin and MBA which are 2 elite teams in the state this year are the type of games that can get you through a nail biter. HC is a great team that has played some good teams but the 2 previously mentioned games might be the difference. I really dont care who wins but I just wish I could be there..... You could have 20 and still lose games, irrelevant question IMO.....
  6. If I ever....lol; just a matter of time hopefully. I will be sure to let you know. I will hopefully be on the sideline in some capacity next fall.....
  7. Ah, dont let the guy get to you buddy; we all know where your heart is and your hospitality to other teams fans is just a sign of good class which is somehing these boards lack sometimes.....
  8. Alcoa is a different animal than KC, WH is better since that game, and they have a knack for beating teams w/ better talent that they are not suppose to beat..... WH - 35 KC - 24
  9. Congrats to both teams; if I could afford to I would just say to heck w/ the job and I would be in Cedar Hill next Friday night. I really felt that JBS and Mckenzie were a mirror of each other last year personel wise, I have not seen either enough this year to make that claim though. This should be a very compeitive game and I really wish I could be there.....
  10. Congrats to JBS; I am not suprised they won but I am suprised they got the shutout.....
  11. I definitely here ya there but unfortunately I still gotta work so I wont be able to go anyway. I graduate in Dec. though and hopefully will be coaching somewhere next fall and not worrying about college at all, lol.....
  12. Well referring to the question in bold; as a member of that team I can answer. Despite the fact that we had great athletes like always, we also had a very good coaching staff w/ players who over the past 3-4 years had been coached by guys by the names of Locke, Thomas, Bell, and Jones. As most know those guys have moved on to either to administrative positions or retired and coach in another state. In addition to that the coching staff in '93 had a really great offensive coach named Williams who has since moved about 10 minutes south and had alot of success as a head coach, also that had a fresh out of college coach (Mcdonald) who also has been around and definitely up to the task. Not to mention Coach Thomas was the head coach at the time. As far as players go we did have a Mr.Football winner that year but he won b/c of his versatiliy; he barely went over 1000 yards not b/c he was not a good RB but b/c we had a 2nd RB go over 1000 yards as well, not to mention a 3rd that had around 600. Defensively we were very fast and would really stick you. That really pretty much sums it.....
  13. I really dont care if I offended you but I dont have anything against Coach Offutt either. Also on his success in 2006 I give alot of that credit to Coach Arrington; the year b/4 he got there they were terrible, the year he was there they have an undefeated season, and the year after he left they were 1-9 and then they were 0-10 this year. Also dont talk like Springfiled does not have good talent year in year out b/c they do. That is 1 reason why people on these boards are so upset about the lack of success. Springfield never has alot of size but every year they have speed/quikness and guys that will hit you but they are not disciplined and like Offut or not that is on the ole ball coach. Another thing is the coaches he surrounds himself w/, those guys coaching there look like the 3 stooges. If you dont think Springfield has good players then you are not very familiar w/ the Springfield personel.....
  14. I couldnt have said it better myself; it really makes me sick at my stomach. I cant even go to a game and watch them play b/c I hate to see those kids have to go through that when everybody knows that they are better then that. I have even been going to watch JBS play the last few years b/c hey have been winning in the play-offs.....
  15. You obviously care about Springfield football as much as I do and as an aspiring coach myself I would love to coach there but really want the program back on track more than any personal endevers. I personally know Dustin Wilson as I stated earlier and I would feel very good about the future of the program if he did indeed get the job. As far as what is broke, I can tell you that, "DISCIPLINE", which is 1 more reason why I would like Coach Wilson to get the job b/c he is a stickler when it comes to that. The 2nd reason that comes to mind is that I know he cares about the Springfield football program. I do get what you are saying and believe that it is 1 path towards what we both dearly want but I just do not feel that it would be the only way. Having said all that, I ultimately just want the program to recover and reach its potentual regardless of how it gets there.....
  16. I made that statement b/c the guy knows what he is doing. Also, even though it is middle school he does have experince building a team from scratch in that in started that program at Coopertown. Another thing to consider is that the program has only been around for 3 years and are coming off of back to back 7-1 seasons. That is what I mean by saying he gets it.....
  17. I got a question..... /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  18. I thought that originally as well, but as I looked through the new 5A classification no schools outside of Galliton and Hillsboro stuck out as a consistent power house. Dont get me wrong there were plenty middle of the road to good teams to good teams but alot of up and down teams. I believe this is 1 of the weaker divisions in the new classificaton and perfect for Springield IMO. I believe this is an important hire for head coach but any of the ones that were mentioned here would do fine. I know Dustin Wilson does not have a ton of experience but I know him personally and he is just 1 of those coaches that gets it.....
  19. You would be suprised how attractive coaching at Springfield is at the moment. There are a hand full of experienced coaches who are interested to coach there. Also, you are right JBS is the elite program in the county rigt now but you also know that Springfield still has the elite athletes in the county despite their lack of success and the right coach will make all the difference in the world. I myself have been going to JBS game over the course of the last 3-4 years b/c I would rather watch them win than Springfield under uderachieve. I think it would be much better for the county if both schools were having succes and I do believe w/ the right coach/coaches it is a recipie for a quick turn around.....
  20. I really dont care who the next coach is as long as the program gets back on the right track
  21. Wow, I have never heard that 1 b/4. I am taking you are from Bama; or are you just 1 of those fans that jumps on the ban wagon? I know I know, you have been a Bama fan every since the 3rd month you were in your mom's tummy..... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  22. Wow; that is the 1st I heard of this. I actually heard that Coach Arrington was coming back as head coach. Either way this will be a very good move for Springfield wether its the Wilsons, Arrington, or better yet both. I would also hope that Coach Wilson would bring Coach Crunk w/ him from Coopertown as well. I am honestly for any of the above; all great coaches w/ bright futures IMO.....
  23. I will eventually even if it is not this spring; hoping the new highschool in Clarksville (West End) may have a spot or open up a spot through migration. I will coach junoir high I dont care, just looking to get through the door in the coaching profession. Thanx for the kind words, I feel like I have met life long friends/supporters through this site and Cascade11 is right in that we are on the same page w/ alot of the Xs & Os concerning football; I consider that good company.....
  24. Yeah I wish I could, but unfortunately they are pretty serious about this mandatory buisness; I could lose my job. I would give anything to be hired for a teaching/coaching job this spring, I hate my current job and it would be history.....
