I can see where if you only look at this from a football fan standpoint (and honestly most of these people on this thread that’s what they look at it bc it’s a sports forum) then it looks like it could be a loophole. But a loophole by definition means you exploit a set of rules. Milan asked TSSAA how to proceed with the Academy when it first came to existence. They were instructed how to proceed. They did that. You can’t exploit rules if you follow the rules given to you.
My main issue with this entire thread is Milan is made out that the ONLY reason they created the Academy was to skew numbers. But that’s not true. The Innovative High School Grant was awarded to the collaborative CTE directors of Milan, Trenton and Gibson County SSD. Milan didn’t “sneak” and “hide”. All three systems were aware of the project and worked on it together.
I think some people on this forum have so much hatred for Milan based off of other posters that they have personal issues with, that they can’t look at it objectively. I’ve been involved with Milan for years. Likely longer than some of these people have been alive. I bleed purple but I’m also realistic. If I thought they were doing something shady, I’d say that. But this isn’t that case.
Fair enough, thank you for the explanation, I understand why Milan fans may feel as if they are under attack...

I 100% played brotha. I’m giving you the perspective of the average fan, and former player. The only people putting asterisks by Milan’s success are bitter keyboard warriors. This little battle of yours that you’re trying to wage on the Milan bulldogs behind a computer screen will go nowhere.
I have no dog in this fight and nothing against Milan whatsoever, but just out of curiosity, do you as a Milan supporter feel they used a loophole to get dropped to a lower class, or if there is any question that they may have, or you can at least see why some may believe that even if it is not true. Respectfully asking for an objective perspective...

I don't disagree that the production value of some games on NFHS leaves much to be desired but the ability to watch that many games statewide for little more than the cost of 1 ticket/month, makes it pretty ideal
Agreed, have been subscribed for several years and although some of the broadcast are poor in quality, the overall product is well worth the cost...

I just hope the boys are not overlooking this week. We have been here before, past three years to be exact and I hope we aren’t complacent. I really do think this is our breakthrough year.
I mean you never know, it really could be, but that is why they play the game, I dont believe your guys will overlook us, they are an established program and you dont get where they are by overlooking teams. at any rate I believe this will be a solid game Friday night and the atmosphere will be electric, cant wait!

44 definitely spit on the kid. Also beech players shoving springfield police and coaches. Luckily nobody got arrested. Sure if there are any questions from tssaa the film will sort it out
I went back and watched the video, following #9 closely, #50 from Beech clearly steps out of line as they were shaking hands and pushes #9 back, moving toward him, and then squares him up, you obviously cannot tell if he spit on him in this video as it is a pretty good distance away, after all of this it is basically a big clutter of people in a crowd and you can't really see what is going on, I dont see how you can suspend anyone next week based off what I saw, and if they figure out a way to do so, that will be truly sad...

All the respect in the world for Page, they are a great program that does everything right, very tough game for the Jackets but I believe they can win and will be ready, cant wait until Friday!

missing Harris and Gunnar was a huge hit, but Springfield has wanted it more all night. Congrats yall. Good luck against Page next week. Go get Region 7 to the title game
Appreciate it, Page is gonna be a very tough game to win, but I am confident in our Jackets!

Can you not take sarcasm ? Are you just messing. But when kids are throwing punches and twisting legs what do you call it?
I missed the sarcasm but are you still doing because I cant tell from this post either, I dont believe they are trying to twist the QBs leg, he is just a big dude and they are having a hard time getting him down, the punch was more of a push off, how about we just talk about the game...

Springfield isn’t dirty but they are throwing punches and after the last beech score is clearly twisting the qbs leg! Beech is gonna come back! But man Springfield is dirty watched number clearly punch the kid in the face
So which is it, we dirty or not...

throwing a punch by rule is an automatic ejection. you can penalize the helmet coming off all you want. that does not condone taking swings.
Stop, I saw it, more of a push than a punch, but lets talk about this instead of the game...

Springfield player just threw a punch right in front of the official and somehow it’s offsetting penalties. That’s an ejection every single time. what are we doing.
I dunno, maybe had something to do with getting his helmet ripped off, offsetting is fair...

I can appreciate that. I will add that in the majority of years Beech too has been undersized, so I do understand. I will agree the Springfield staff gets the kids motivated and gets the most out of them, but there’s a bit more to coaching than that. Understand I’m not discrediting the coaching, I’m just saying they’re not the same. Perhaps in time, but not now. That is one we will just have to disagree on.
That said, this is banter. I know several Springfield fans/supporters, many I call friends. I am hopeful of a good, clean, and injury free game. I was hopeful we would get to see this matchup again and here we are. Friday can’t get here fast enough this week…
Oh, and…
Beech 42
Springfield 20😂😂
I agree wholeheartedly, both teams are where they are supposed to be!

I don’t not like Wilson but to compare the two is, well… laughable. Wilson has won some games and has been good for Springfield, but Crabtree’s track record speaks for itself. I appreciate your love for your coach, but let’s be real. I’ve watched a lot of Springfields games this year and coaching has cost them a few.
As far as players go, Springfield has a couple that could play on most teams. They have a couple that I would take any day.
That said, I stand firm that Beech has the advantage in every facet of this game. Prove otherwise and I will gladly and publicly eat crow.
I still stand by the Springfield coaching, and the comparison is far from laughable, but opinions are just that, I hesitated to say they do more with less than most coachs only because I do not want to disrespect our players. I believe Springfield has talented players every year, even before Coach Wilson got there and they were losing most of their games. The difference between Springfield's talent and Beech's for example, is the measurables, most Springfield teams do not have a lot of size for one thing and go into some games at a disadvantage. Haywood for example who they played beat 2 out of 3 times in the semis were not only bigger, but were faster and had a few one D1 athletes spread over those teams. The Haywood announcers said, and I quote, "they look like a middle school team. They bring these kids, Springfield kids, the majority born and raised there in and coach them up, they dont get a healthy dose of transfers and they compete hard every season. So yeah I put our coaches up against any in the state...

Crabtree took over my freshman year, and a switch was flipped. the program took off and hasn’t looked back. He’s the best in the county, region, and one of the best in the state. If someone thinks Springfield has the better coaching…oof
I never said better, but I believe they are right there with them, and I stand by that, oof away...

Not going to lie, I had said Beech by a minimum of 28. That was pretty dang bold lol. The Springfield fans got me thinking 4th quarter battle, one score game. Who wants it more??? Prove me wrong!!!!
Whatever the score ends of being, Springfield always gives everything they got, they want to win as much as anyone and will keep fighting, I expect a decent game as well!

IMy apologies. I missed that.
Im in no way saying the coaching is bad, but I believe Beech has a better staff collectively. Crabtree has two Gold balls and two silver. Other members of the staff were on some of those staffs and others have won with other teams. Just more experienced.
I do not believe having more gold balls means a staff is necessarily better as there are different circumstances like personel, where the program was when you started, competition ect, I would put I do understand why you feel the way you do though, but, I would take our coaching staff over most...
