  1. There are now times up on Jim314.com but they seem to me to be a little late. The championship game is listed as Monday(2/18) at 8:00pm. For the Chattanooga teams that puts the game starting at 9:00, leaving the gym by 10:30, and arriving home around 12:00pm. And they still have to go to school the next day.
  2. Judging from last season's tournament the first game on Saturday will be at 3:00pm. That game would be the lower half of the girls bracket. The next girls game would be at 6:00pm and would be the teams in the top half of the bracket. This is just a guess using last years scheule. As far as the championship games, I am not sure whether the girls championship and consolation games will be on Monday or if both championships will be played on Monday or Tuesday. Do you have any information on who made the all district team/MVP?
  3. The top four teams beat the bottom five teams with ease. The top four teams can make some noise. I will say that Sequatchie is really good and the other three teams played them to a 10, an 8, and a 3 point game during the season. So do not over look Sequatchie Co., Howard, Chattanooga Christian, and Grundy Co.
  4. The Lady Indians will host the winner of the #8 and #9 game on Thursday. I'm not sure what time though. The tie will come down to a coin toss or point differential unless there is some other way of breaking it. If they do the point differential between just Grundy Co. and Chattanooga Christian then Grundy Co. has a one point advantage. Grundy Co. beat Chattanooga Christian by 13 the first time and lost by 12 the second time. If this is the case then Chattanooga Christain better hope for a coin toss. But it will be unfair if they know that Grundy Co. has the advantage and they still do a coin toss. They should have decided at the beginning of the season how they would break a tie.
  5. Here are the standings for district 6AA as best as I can tell. 1. Sequatchie Co. 2. Howard 3. Chattanooga Christian/Grundy Co. 5. Marion Co. 6. Bledsoe Co. 7. Notre Dame 8. East Ridge 9. Hixson The tie breaker between Chattanooga Christian and Grundy Co. should be decided today. #8 and #9 will have a play-in game on Wednesday at East Ridge. From there at the higher seed: #1 will play #8 #2 will play #7 #3 will play #6 #4 will play #5 The rest of the tournament will be played at Bledsoe Co. High School. If you have any updates or corrections please add them.
  6. Get ready to see some GOOD basketball in region 3AA over the next three weeks. Who won the Brainerd vs. Austin East game?
  7. It sets most great players apart from most good players. There are some exception but for those that have the opportunity to play it really helps them. I just wish it did not involve such a big payout by the players parents. If it were cheaper there would be alot more girls playing AAU. A lot of parents can not afford to pay for a trip to Atlanta and/or Orlando and/or Cincinati while buying team jerseys and shoes. It cost a lot for these players to play.
  8. I know records do not matter in the tournament except for seeding, but Region 3AA is represented well in the Win/Loss standings on CoachT. McMinn Central is #1 and Sequatchie is #2 in class AA. That says a lot for girls basketball in southeast Tennessee since they do not get much recognition.
  9. Coachgat, Congratulations on you streak even though it ended before the state championship. But I want to congratulate you one your humbleness. Its great that they give you a chance to coach at a young age and even better that you are excelling at it. From your post I can tell that you have the best for your team and your girls as a number one priority. Keep up the good work. Hope to see and meet you at the state tournament. Indian Chief
  10. For the second year in a row Sequatchie Co. Lady Indians go undefeated in district 6AA. As reigning champions, the Lady Indians will enter the district tournament as the number one seed. The district tournament will start Wednesday with a play-in game between the #8 and #9 teams. The higher seeds will host the first round games and the rest of the tournament will be at Bledsoe Co. High School.
  11. Sequatchie is 7-8 going into Friday's game. They do not have a chance at 4th place but they have 5th place locked in. Marion Co. is 6-10 with no district games remaining.
  12. My bad on getting the seasons mixed up. With TSSAA decreasing the number of games last season and adding more dead periods, do you think they will reduce the number of games again? Also I am pretty sure that TSSAA gets ALL of the gate money. Most schools assign teachers or volunteers to the gate duty. If they allow the school to keep a percentage of the gate, and the school has to pay the referees, then TSSAA is essentially keeping all of the money.
  13. Lakyn played with Laken Leonard, Jasmine Hassel, and LaQuinta Jefferson two summers ago. They placed 3rd in the national tournament. That was the summer after her freshmen year.
  14. I think East Ridge and Sequatchie are tied for 4th place. Sequatchie beat East Ridge Tuesday. The big game Friday is the Chattanooga Chrstian, Hixson game, but East Ridge plays at Grundy Co. and Sequatchie host Bledsoe. These two games are big because they will determine who gets to host a first round game in the district tournament.
  15. Next season TSSAA will limit the number of games a team can play during the regular season. The rule states a team can only play 24 games and tournament will count as 2 games. That will most likely allow 26 total games given that most tournaments include three games. How will this affect the season? A lot of teams do not play this many games, but the really strong teams will play as many games as they can possibly. What about districts with 8 or more teams. The team I follow has to play 16 district games. Include two tournaments, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you are already up to 20. Is this a good move or not?
  16. New coach, new players, more experience for players, they are a good team. Right now they have two starters out with injury. Both are expected to be back by next week. William Moore torn his ACL, and the point guard had a groin or upper leg injury. If they get both of them back by districts they will be really good. They may not win the district, but you have to realize that you have Howard and Hixson in district 6AA. Definitely a better team than last year.
  17. A potentially good matchup tonight with Chattanooga Christian at McMinn Central. Chattanooga Christian played Sequatchie Co. to an eight point game Tuesday night. May see this matchup again later in the region tournament.
  18. Allow me to put in a good word for Lakyn Ledford. Lakyn is a 6'2" junior for AA Sequatchie County. She was an All-State player as a sophomore. She leads the Lady Indians with 15.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 63% from the field. She scored her 1000th point this season. One other teammate scored her 1000th point and another is expected to by the end of the season. That is pretty impressive to lead a team with three 1000 point scorers, and they are all juniors. To let you know the caliber of player Lakyn is, she plays AAU ball with some of the front running Miss Basketball candidates. She plays with: A Jackson County's Laken Leonard AAA Wilson Central's Jasmine Hassel AA LaVerne's LaQuinta Jefferson That is a very impressive team! Their AAU team is coached by Shelbyville standout(1988-1991), three time Tennessee State Champion(1989-1991), former Miss Basketball(1991), Former Lady Vol, and former WNBA player Tiffany Woosley.
  19. Only one team from district 13AA made it out of the region and that was Westview. They lost in the sectional game to Booker T Washington.
  20. So, who won? Also if you know, who won the girls game?
  21. I am not real sure about the whole money issue. If I'm not mistaken, the school does not get any of the gate money. The only money I know they get is that off of consessions. At Sequatchie that money goes to toward the baseball program since they run it during the games. I think this district is hurting itself by having so many teams. Four years ago when the districts were set it was rather week. Now it is working its way back up. Maybe this district will get some help when they evaluate this summer.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe TSSAA evaluates the districts this summer and will reassign teams as needed. I don't think anyone will leave 6AA but you have to look at adding Signal Mountain High School. My guess is that they will enter the 6AA in basketball. That would make ten teams in this district. Here is a proposal: Given Signal Mountain is added to 6AA, add them to the valley side and that will even the Chattanooga teams and the valley teams at five a piece. You could then do a 6AA north and a 6AA south. The south would be the Chattanoonga teams and the north would be the valley teams. You could have them play the teams in there division twice each year and then give them the option of playing teams in the other divisions as they want. That would free up at least five games. Come the end of the season you could set up the district tournament to where the top teams would play the bottom teams and so on. This is kind of how the SEC works in college football. Going by the district standings with the addition of Signal Mountain: North 1. Sequatchie Co. 2. Grundy Co. 3. Marion Co. 4. Bledsoe 5. Signal Mountain South 1. Howard 2. Chattanooga Christian 3. Notre Dame 4. East Ridge 5. Hixson #1 from the North would play #5 from the South. #2 plays #4, and #3 plays #3. Or for the ease of a bracket, the top two teams would be a bye. Then #2 plays #4 and so on. This set up can work for districts with eight or more teams. There are other districts in the state that have ten teams. To me this is a feasible plan. Pass this Proposal on to someone who could bring it up in the district meeting.
  23. Yes. It is absolutley right. Sequatchie started the game with a 34-0 run. It would not have been so bad, but they did not use the Mercy Rule. It was 36-1 at the half. Im not sure why they did not use the mercy rule though. I am not sure if the coaches can agree not use it or how exactly it works.
  24. Are there any other players that have scored 1000 points at Sequatchie County? Kelsey Bacon scored 1000 last year, but she is the only other one I know of. Besides Jennifer Lockhart, Lakyn is the only All-State player at Sequatchie County that I know of. Also does anyone know the record for points in a career? And again, Good Job Lakyn!
