  1. I wasn't at the game but based on the way the radio color man described things, it sounded like the team came out completely flat, especially on defense. I can rembember some of the great memories of DB/Central games of the 70's. There was Dickie Warren on one bench and Buck Van Huss on the other. And the gyms were always packed. Ah those were the good ole days. These two teams were always fired-up when they played each other. Now it seems like Central gets fired up but the Indians are just going through the motions. I don't know if it's team chemistry or what but the players just seem to have a lackodasical attitude right now. If things don't change pretty quickly, I'm afraid DB might end up being the biggest disappointment of the Big 9 Conference this year. And that would be a shame because I really like Charlie Morgan both as a person and as a coach.
  2. I really believe the loss of Coty Sensabaugh has hurt them a lot more than anyone wants to admit. When you lose your leading scorer that happens. Charlie's offense was undoubtedly designed to get him the ball and when he got hurt in football all that had to be scrapped and sorta start over from scratch. It is hoped he can be back sometime around the Arby's, but I wonder if he will be anywhere close to being back to normal until sometime in January. Physical therapy takes time to get you back to full playing speed. In the meantime they probably just have to experiment with combinations to get the right mix into their games at the right time.
  3. I have never heard of anything like this before. Where did you get your info?
  4. Sorry I brought up the prospect of playing Richlands. I didn't mean to stir up a hornet's nest. I was just curious what you meant that state championships in VA are "the biggest joke of all time". Is there something I don't know?
  5. I think you are right about the quality of the teams in immediate SW VA. I think DB is without a doubt far superior to any of them. But they should be, as they have three times their enrollment. But I think Richlands is an exception. They are 12-0 and have been ranked number 1 in the state in Class AA for most of the season. They were also state runner-up last year. My point is that it would kinda be the equivalent of playing an Alcoa with all the hoopla of an interstate rivalry.
  6. I wonder if Coach Clark has considered trying to schedule games with Richlands as they seem to be the powerhouse program in the state of VA. The drive for both schools would not be that bad (compared to MBA). Can you imagine how much interest a game like that would generate with it being an interstate battle? No doubt, the stands would be packed at J. Fred and provide lots of revenue to both schools.
  7. Yes, An easy place to access it is on TriCitiesSports.com. They even tell a little about each team playing.
  8. Yes and the fact that it was done mostly by private donations is a great testament to how much the community believes in the school. Don't you think it would be great if the next venture of the alumni association would be to completely renovate J Fred? City engineers are saying the time has come for something to be done or the facility may become unsafe in the near future.
