  1. I just heard that the Throp kid had transferred to Sullivan North to play for Robbie Norris, hoping for more playing time. Can anyone confirm this or is it old news?
  2. I wouldn't worry too much about how good we'll be because we always have enough talent to beat you. Think about it. The last time you beat us Moby Dick was still a minnow!
  3. DBTP, Any pointers on good late-lunch restaurants for Halls parents & boosters to visit prior to the scrimmage? Especially places locals like to go. As btgoG stated, we very much appreciate the hospitality DB has always shown Halls players & fans. We are looking forward to trying out your new turf. If you want something close to DB, there are lots of good restaurants on Eastman Road less than a half mile from the school. Just drive north past the tennis courts. One of my favorites is Johnny Brusco's Pizza.
  4. Another name that comes to mind is Renaldo "Skeets" Nehemiah. Remember him? One of the fastest guys in the world at that time but had little success as a wide receiver.
  5. HA!HA!HA! you make me laugh is Chris going to beat South all by himself.....I don't think so.And if you want to talk about some freight train's Ty Garvin and Clint Phillips will be more than glad to meet Chris at the line of scrimmage!!!!So who else will DB have next year?lets see Chris, Chris,Chris,Chris,so I guess if CHRIS was to go down (GOD forbid)so will DB's season. And you know you DB people need to back off of Chris and let him enjoy himself because you create a whole lot of trouble between Chris and his teamates because you make out like he is the whole team. These clowns couldn't carry his jock strap. Yes, I said it!!
  6. Don't you think it's funny how everyone outside the DB family wants to attach a caveat to their Chris Sensabaugh remarks? Like "he's a great player, but". The fact of the matter is he will be playing on the Varsity with plenty of other 17 year olds who have just as much opportunity to show what they can do. So enough of these BACKHANDED COMPLIMENTS. Shame on you!! This young man deserves better.
  7. I think Chris has all the tools to be a D1 player but he needs to get thru 3 years without any major injury. So why put too much pressure on the kid?
  8. You guys will be the first team that we scrimmage on the new Field Turf that was just installed this Spring. It's light years ahead of the old artificial turf. It's the same turf that the Colts play on and I think you will like it.
  9. Yes--Media Day & Scrimmage with Halls at DB @ 5:30.
  10. If I were you I wouldn't be in any big hurry to find out.
  11. I disagree. I think last year's start was more difficult, and we didn't have as much talent or experience to work with as we do this year. I think we will start out 3-1 or possibly even 4-0.
  12. FYI-the reason SW Va gets a lot of coverage in both news and sports at the Times-News is because there are no other newspapers that cover that area. They have thousands of subscribers between KY and Abingdon VA and they're trying to sell newspapers. Don't try to read more into it than that (no pun intended).
  13. You better be careful, don't want to ruin your reputation.
  14. Then why are you even on here spewing your opinions? It's pretty easy to be top dog when you play Podunk High every year. The arrogance of the GC people never ceases to amaze me. Didn't you learn any humility after being drubbed in that game? All I can say is "GRETNA WHO?
  15. We all know the old saying: If you can't take the heat, get off the football field.
  16. That was cute, but you'll need more than radio announcers come Fall '09.
  17. Good post. I think you hit the nail on the head. One of my neighbor's kids is a good athlete and wanted to play quarterback last year. When he wasn't getting enough playing time he suddenly announced he was transferring to Central. Well to make a long story short, he didn't transfer anywhere. He just quit the team. But I think that's the norm for this generation. There is no work ethic anymore. They have the McDonalds Drive-Thru mentality. Nothing is worth working for or waiting for. Everybody wants instant gratification and if they don't get it, they'll take their ball and go home. Fathers have to shoulder some of the responsibility for not teaching their sons what the real world is like. But fortunately for DB there are so many kids that go out for football, it doesn't impact us quite as hard as the smaller schools.
  18. The respect is mutual OR nole. Nothing but class from you guys.
  19. Bud can speak for himself, but I'd like to ask you a question too. How many times has South played Gate City since the schools inception, huh? Your enrollment is a lot closer to theirs than ours is.
  20. If anyone should appreciate great football tradition, it should be someone who calls themselves Volman. Ever heard of General Neyland or the 3rd Saturday in October? It's what makes UT such a special place. And the DB folks also take great pride in our great tradition, whether our detractors like it or not. If you think Maryville doesn't have any enemies, you should take a look at the message boards from Blount County to see what the fans at Alcoa and William Blount have to say. As far as the fans go, I could give you a laundry list of South fans that I have met through the years who are nothing short of rednecks. So be careful before you start casting stones.
  21. In every sport and at every level, people love to hate a winner. But hate is kind of a strong word, we like to call it ENVY.
