  1. HHS deserved to win the game, they earned it, no excuses, they were the better team. But... Franklin is a completely different animal. That being said, we are talking about 16-18 year olds so if HHS pulls together and wins I'll be one of the first to congradulate them. I don't think they have the horses to win.
  2. Here's a take from a raptor fan just now out of mourning. !st, congrats to H'ville on the win. Yazzie is much more than advertized and without him H'ville is sitting at home this week. That said, RHS' special teams are putrid! That's where the game was won by H'ville. Franklin's kicker will put most if not all of kickoffs (expect many of these) into the endzone which will negate Yazzie's return potential. Punts (which there will be few) are much better than RHS weak kicks and coverage is much better. So much for the "hidden yardage". When RHS mixed the run and pass, H'ville was simply lost and only effective when the run or pass was obvious. At those times they were good. If the H'ville D gives up 17 to RHS, FHS will at least double that score. FHS- double Yazzie in the pass routes or put #8 on him and the HHS offense will have little punch, On offense, don't throw Yazzie's way and you will have a field day, throw at him and it may well be a pick 6. BTW, when a #1 seed has to come from behind, then hang on for a win over a #4 seed, it's kind of silly for your fans to chant "overrated"...unless they were chanting to their own team. Bitter you ask,....yup but mainly disappointed in the Raptors. Good luck and health to both sides. I predict a Rebel win 31-7....Yazzie will get 1 TD despite FHS' best efforts to stop him...he's that good and deserved the Titans Player of the Week honor. Rebels, you have absolutely no excuse if you don't bring home the Gold ball this year! Good luck and I'll be watching.
  3. The person that posted the bogus score is "raider22". Anybody know him/her?
  4. FYI CHS fans. Gallatin fills their side of the stadium so many of their fans will sit on the visitors side. They are not trying to start anything, it's just the way it is..... but they will talk and get rowdy so keep your cool, alittle trash talk makes it fun.. Good luck Cougars, Represent Region 6!
  5. Thankyou, thank you, thank you! I just wanted to see some interest. BHS should win and I realyy want to see a FHS/BHS rematch. It's always a great game to watch. Good luck B'wood.
  6. My picks for the 5A- Region 5/6 matchups; Brentwood over Antioch, Franklin over Hunter's Lane, Centennial over Gallatin, and although I hate to say it, H'ville over Ravenwood.
  7. I've read post after post from Riverdale supporters (or should I say lackofsupporters) dogging Coach A. Is it any wonder why the players would lose confidence in the coach if all they heard from the supporters (read parents) was how lousy the coach was. As far as recruiting the halls, if a kid doesn't have the desire to put in the commitment on his own to sign up for football, the team is better off without him. A great team is just that, A TEAM, not a bunch of great athletes (read Dallas Cowboys). Let those in charge make the decision, then back the coach and don't be part of the problem.
  8. Thought I'd start a thread for the Bruins since none of their supporters seem to care enough to start one on their own.
  9. BTW, how many times has Gallatin made it out of the 1st round of the playoffs in the past 4-5 years? Not trying to stir things up, I honestly don't know.
  10. I agree FHS should win hands down, but as soon as the team thks it has it in the bag, they let down. I've seen it over and over. (see Brentwood game). They should have wiped out BHS but let them hang around then looked like they pannicked. (the coaches, not the players). Play like they did in the Centennial game and they have a legit shot at winning state.
  11. Don't be so quick to dismiss goldendome, he has a point. I've watched CHS and while they have ridiculous speed, their fundamentals and discipline are suspect at best. I've posted before that the lack of D will be their undoing. The offense, no matter how great Chaz, Kemp, and McLemore are cannot continue to rely on big plays and outscoring opponents to win. Eventually it will let them down (see Franklin game). They WAY underutilize Drew Kelly. If I had him, there would be at least 10 passes thrown to him until the D proved they could stop him. With all that said, unless Gallatin has well above average speed, especially at LB, they may be in for a long night of 1-2 play scoring drives by CHS. Good luck Cougars. I would love to see you have a second shot at Brentwood this year.
  12. I will say NE is greatly improved over the past few years. Players in the past should be commended as they got a raw deal regarding coaching, equipment, facilities and mostly being placed in a region that was more than an hour's drive every week. Way too far to have any fan support. That being said, I saw the Indy/NE game on TV and it was pretty much unwatchable, the play was so poor by both teams, and I'm a football junkie. The game will be closer than in the past, but Ravenwood should take it comfortably.... unless the Mr. Hyde team shows up in which case it will give the homecoming crowd a scare but ultimately will win. Final standings will be :Brentwood, Franklin, Centennial, and Ravenwood.
  13. In the words of Clubber Lang, Indy is "Dead Meat", sorry guys, you have no prayer.
  14. If you look at the past few years, the team that lost the state finals missed the playoffs entirely the following year. Oak Ridge 2006, Ravenwood 2007, and Indy 2008. Kind of interesting, huh
  15. Spoke with a coach in District 12 and this is how it will work. District 12: Glencliff-5A, Hillsboro-5A, Hillwood-5A , Cane Ridge-5A, Antioch-6A, Hunters Lane-6A, McGavock-6A. With only 3, 6A teams, this district has only 1 guaranteed berth. So, if Antioch beats Hunters Lane and Mcgavock, htey could lose every other game and still make the playoffs with a 2-8 record because it takes the record agaist your class first to determine playoff berth and the other games only if there is a tie. There will be 6 state champs in D1, 1A - 6A.
  16. It's a shame how a game that had sparked so much interest in the past 2 years didn't even rate a thread til now. Not even Donathan is talking. Where are you Donnyboy, I miss your posts.
  17. Glad I could spark some talk. Was trying to tone Rebelman123 down alittle, the spank part was in jest. In viewing most of the teams in the region, IMO Franklin has the best talent overall, Brentwood is solid and disciplined, Centennial has Chaz and speed to burn but suspect D, and Ravenwood shown they can hang or beat the best of teams or lose badly depending on which team shows up. I'm a Raptor fan with a daughter still there, but have a niece at Franklin and another at Brentwood, so in the end I should have someone to root for come playoff time. Ya gotta love HS football.
  18. I believe it is 1 team guaranteed and a wildcard only if it is one of the top teams in 6A,5A,4A, etc that did not get the automatic bid. So, it may happen that a team from the east may end up in the west bracket and vice versa. It sounds like it could be a mess but in think 2A is already doing something like this to prevent a team with a losing record being in the playoffs over a team wiith a better record but in a tough region, district, whatever. For those of us who like to figure if our team will make it and what they have to do to make the playoffs, well... just win all your games.
  19. Wow, cocky talk from someone who just got spanked by Brentwood. Be careful who you're calling the taint until you have played them. They may just make YOU stink like taint. The speed of the offense is great and this game may have 2 scores in the 50's as Centennial may have trouble with the Franklin O. There may be several 1-2 play scoring drives in this game from both sides.
  20. The way I've been told is if there are 6 6A teams in your district, there will be 3 to automatically make the playoffs, and if only 5 teams, then only 2 berths. After that ther will be wild card berths based on overall record. What this means is there will probably be no more Ravenwood/BA or MBA or Franklin/McCallie games as the teams can't afford to schedule known difficult games.
  21. Hats off to the Cougars, they are amazingly fast. If the defense improves, they have a shot to go deep into the playoffs, but if not it will be their undoing. They will not be able to just ourun/outscore everybody. Had Cenntennial not agreed to move the BHS game originally scheduled for week 8 to week zero before they got the O together, I believe they would have beaten BHS. Would love to see a rematch in the playoffs. As for RHS, it helps that Indy lost but they have to run the table which looks very dificult the way IHS, NE, and DC are playing and with RHS' very inconsistent play and... continued personal fouls which kill drives and games!
  22. As I see it, providing games shake out as expected, (no disrespect to any of the teams), Brentwood would be 1st with 5-1 region record, Franklin 2 with 5-1 record but loss v BHS, so if Ravenwood beats Centennial, they would be 3 with 5-1 record but lose tiebreakers due to 2 nonregion losses, and Centennial 4. If Centennial wins they would be 3 and Ravenwood 4. Anyway, this should be an interesting game with no way to predict as both teams have looked good some weeks and bad the next.
  23. Be careful what you wish for Rook. If Franklin wins, it gives Ravenwood a leg up on Brentwood for 2nd seed in the playoffs. In a 3 way tie. Ravenwood would be behind in the tie breakers due to 2 losses out of region. Franklin has no business losing this game but stranger things have happened in this rivalry. Can't wait to watch the replay as I will be watching the Raptors opening a can on Columbia.
  24. I agree about the officials, a complete embarassment. All in all, it was horrible on both sides. It's a shame that after a great, entertaining game, the officials is what most are disscussing. A well officiated game is one in which the officials are not remembered. BTW, does anyone know the condition of MBA player #82 that injured his knee?
  25. I hate to rain on your parade because CHS is looking better this year, but CHS has not played anywhere near the competition that FHS, RHS, and BHS have played. The hardest game was against BHS which they lost 28-7. They should still make the playoffs, but will probably be the 4 seed. Still a great improvement over the past.
