  1. Ok sorry to stir up such a buzz. But DCTiger fan i'm sorry if it sounded like i took offense to your post. I didn't mean it to in any way. What I'm trying to say is it seems like most of you are saying the award should go to the girl that most helps her team? am i right? Well if that is what you are saying I just have a few questions. Please don't get upset at my post just wondering what you all think about it. Let's say that Dekalb (we know dekalb is struggling so that is why i use them in this example, please don't take offense) has one girl that can get the ball up the court verses pressure. With the defensive pressure applied in this district she would probably be their best player or MVP, simply because she can handle the ball. Well does this make her the MVP of the district because she can get the ball past half court. Which would be pretty valuable by the way. Because of the fact that she is more valuable to her team does not mean she is the best player in the district. The award is called the DISTRICT 7AA Most Valuable Player. It's not Upperman's most valuable player, or Smith Counties most valuable player or Livingstons. It is the Most valuable player in the district. To me it means the best or most outstanding player in the district. Just my opinion. By the way the game at between Upperman and Smith county could have been another blow out. Upperman didn't even press until the 4th quarter. And i think we know what happened the first time they played and the press was on in the first half. I think we were up like 40??? Anyways I just don't think she is the best player in the district. and that is what i think the award is about. i may be wrong. I also don't believe she could beat any starter on the upperman team one on one. Her feet are too slow to guard them. Oh and i agree with whoever it was that said they considered mathews a candidate for MVP. She is a good player. Sorry If i made someone mad, because that's not what i'm trying to do. Just trying to understand everyones argument. Thanks.
  2. People please wake up. There is no way that Ferris should be this years MVP. Surely you guys are joking. You are saying that the award should go to the player that impacts their team the most, right? Well tell me this, IF her team was 1 and 20 do you think she would be deserving of this award. NO way!!! Yes, An MVP like in the NBA is considered the player that mostly impacts their team, while leading them to a great season. I would be shocked if she ever wins the MVP award in this district. I watched her play Upperman twice, and I didnt see any where near MVP material. Granted I did see her block some shots, but I also seen your so called MVP getting out hustled. I seen smaller girls ripping the ball from her hands and running circles around her. Right now after watching them play head to head twice I would say that the Dyer girl from Baxter has had the Upper hand. So don't be so quick to throw out MVP's to just anybody. Not sure on this but I do believe Lashay Davis is averaging around 20 points and leading her team to a one loss season. Sounds pretty deserving to me of an MVP award. However, my vote goes to Uppermans Chelsey Taylor. She is a natural leader on the floor. She can score, play defense and rebound. Always picking up the team when they are down. Your MVP has to come from Upperman. If not this award is a joke.
  3. Not taking anything away from Shelbyville but, Upperman played maybe the worst game of the year. It didn't even look like they were trying. Post play totally killed Upperman. They were out rebounded on both ends of the floor, and the 2 post players from Shelbyville wore them out all night long. I still don't know if Shelbyville can shoot the ball, but they can finish around the basket. Upperman has to get stronger inside. The Upperman team from a few years back would kill this current team. (no doubt). However, I still think they are tops in the AA division. You are correct about the differnce in classes. I mean just the night before Upperman beat the reigning single A state champions by 22 points. Anyways great tournament, and good luck to all teams.
  4. Who has the best shot in 7AA this year? Not seen many shooters? However being a Bee Fan i will say that Upperman's best shooter (Ethan Christian) is on the bench with an injury. I'm sure some of you out there have seen him shoot the ball when he was younger. Anyways who can step back and fill it full??? Let me hear from ya..
  5. Just wondering if Upperman was still in your district, where do you think they finish? Of course I think they finish 1st with ease, just like to get some predictions going?
  6. Ok well not for sure about single A but i'm gonna go with someone out of the Jackson County, Clarkrange District. Sorry for not knowing that district. AA I don't see anyone beating Upperman. Sorry teams from the West, but Middle TN is where the Women's basketball talent comes from. AAA is up for grabs. I will pick two. Cumberland County Lady Jets, and Wilson Central.
  7. Not seen Red Boiling play this year, but I'm going with Jackson County by 10 or more at home. I may eat this reply after the final buzzer. However I'm going with RBS being OVER RATED!!! Man it hurts to pick Jackson County, but I have respect for that program. However, I have heard that RBS has got a good ball club. They must have made a huge turn around from when we were in their district. I remember them being a pushover team. But new year brings new players. Good Luck to Both teams. Someone post that score if please when it's over.
  8. Just wondering who everyone predicts to win this tough tournament? And do you think there is a tougher tourney in Tennessee other than maybe State?
  9. I agree that Upperman does rely on shooting at times. However, I really think this years team has got alot of options. The 6'3 freshman girl inside gives them an inside presence if needed. (She will be very good) They seem to play like scavengers. If you can't handle the ball, they will take it. If the ball is on the floor or loose you better watch your knees because they will be on the floor in a heartbeat. I will admit there are things they need to work on in order to get over that hump. And this year I really believe they will. I realize that the team has a few seniors, but let's don't forget how young this team is at the same time. That may not make much sense but the leading scorer on the team is a 5'5 freshman that plays more like a boy. The christmas tournaments will tell a lot, Upperman always travels to somewhere and takes on the countries best, and to tell you the truth the last few years they've come out of those tournaments undefeated. I agree will all of you however, time will tell. Good luck to all 7AA teams. (toughest district in the state for a long time)
