  1. I don't agree at all. Upperman didn't lose too much. They lost 5 seniors, but they have replaced them with some good basketball players, and better athletes. I don't understand the comment on the coach running them off??? I don't know of any good players he has run off. If you know of someone please inform me. No seniors this year but should contend with Livingston. I agree livingston is the team to beat, but don't count out Upperman they have a great balance on offense. Outta be a good battle between LA and Upperman this year and next year as well. Can't wait.
  2. I will have to agree with everyone else. LA should be the preseason favorite no doubt, especially with what they are returning. However, that's why the game is played. College football has showed us what Preseason rankings are worth. LOL! Since I am from Upperman I will give a little insight to their returning players. Dustin Baxter approx. 6'4 wing player has greatly improved over the summer. Carrin Nash will do the work inside, and remember his name i think he will be something special eventually. Ethan Christian, younger brother of Emily Christian, can shoot the lights out if you dare him to shoot. No surprise there that he should be a heck of a player. The rest of the players are gonna be interesting to see. Not to sure of some of them but Coach McWilliams is a great coach and spends so much time with these kids he's bound for success every year. It should be a very exciting and fun season in district 7AA just as it always is. 1. Livingston 2. Upperman The rest i have no idea, flip a coin.
  3. Let's see some school spirit and hear from those who think they know will win this semi final matchup between the road runners and the lady bees!!! You know who i think will win.. And i bet i know why ldyer is pulling for too. Lady bees get used to murfreesboro, cause you may be there a lot in the next few years.
  4. The game comes down to this in my opinion. How well will NS handle the constant pressure put on them by the Lady Bees!! This will play a vital role in the outcome of the game. If they get sloppy and don't handle the pressure very well, it could be a big win in uppermans favor.. However if the do handle it well, how good will Upperman come out shooting the basketball. New gym with different surroundings. If they shoot the ball well early look for Upperman to jump up early and win. By the way Brandi Brown (from York) plays for MTSU.
  5. Upperman will win by 20. I doubt that Sequatchie has been put to the test like Upperman has all year long. Good quick defense and deadly shooting puts the bees a huge favorite in my book.
  6. As you can tell I am a huge Upperman Fan. I really like the two coaches we have here in Baxter, and enjoy going to the games in the new gymnasium. I know how hard it is to beat a team three times in one year. Sometimes no matter how good they are it is a hard thing to do. I will however take the lady bees because i think they are playing pretty well right now. I would also like to add that I think this area has the best talent of girls basketball in the whole state, and i would love nothing more than to see livingston again in the state tourney. Cause if we do meet again it will be for the gold ball. I think that would garner some attention from the rest of the state to see two district 7AA teams battling a 5th time for the state championship. Go Lady Bees!!! and good luck to OLD HOG EYE in the Substate and hopefully State tournament.
  7. Region MVP not only comes from someone in the championship game, but to the team that wins the tournament. Even though ferris had a good two games she will not get the MVP.
  8. NO I don't agree with there being two barn burners at all!!! I look for the better teams to win, and win big. I pick Livingston over Smith by 10+. And as far as Upperman and DCA go I'll take the Lady Bees by 35.
  9. Wow!!! Candace Parker Huh??? Well we all know she'll never be that good. That shouldn't even be an argument. As for the best player in the state?? I really doubt that will ever happen either. I mean what is the big hype about her, I just don't understand. And how is she a a miss basketball candidate when she isn't even the best player in her district. Sure she is 6'8 and can score inside over some smaller girls every now and then, but to say she is one of the three best basketball "players" in the state is wrong. She may surprise me if she works hard and gets alot better but right now, no way is she going to UT. We are talking about one of the best teams in the Country, and she can't win a district championship for her team. Maybe the future holds bright for her with a lot of work and dedication to the game on her part but right now I think the hype around her is way too big. Miss Basketball candidates don't miss a ton of free throws and let smaller post (and i mean way smaller post) dominate her come tournament time. Her height may get her a great scholarship somewhere one day, but the playing time will never be there if the quickness and coordination doesn't come together. As far as the game between them and LIvingston??? Give me HOGEYE by 20!!! Get Uses to It..
  10. We all know how tough it is to win a region tournament game. However with that said, I really think this years teams in 7AA have a descent chance of pulling off some upsets. Good luck to each team in district 7AA. Good luck to the tigers of Dekalb. My bees probably have the hardest way to go, but i guess anything can happen. I'd like to see the final four in baxter all from 7AA but that may be wishful thinking. I just hope this year if a team from district 7AA plays a team out of the other district that they will get some support from their other district teams. I've noticed in the past in this district that some schools will cheer against another team in this district to lose, and i think that is very wrong. Good luck, and let the tournaments begin!!!!!
  11. Ok I believe you are so badly mistaken here. I do believe we have won a game in the region in the last five years. As far as baseball goes, just look out for Livingston, Upperman, and Dekalb this year. you better watch those teams in basketball as well
  12. Hit a soft spot did I??? Well, I guess only time will tell us about the future of this district, but no i haven't given up on Upperman this year either. Upperman is definitely the favorite to win the district, and they will win it, easily.. No close games for Upperman in this tournament. We'll talk some smack after the tournament how does that sound. If LA wins I'll take all the smack you wanna bring,(which I should) but just remember you've laid alot out there yourself. So if Upperman wins just be big enough to take some of what you dish out.
  13. Hit a soft spot did I??? Well, I guess only time will tell us about the future of this district, but no i haven't given up on Upperman this year either. 14. This tournament this year is such a coin toss!!! I have no idea who will win it. I don't think that there is one team that is that much better than any other team to tell you the truth. I honestly think that a bottom seed in this district on a given night can beat a really high seed. Especially during tournament time. If I had to pick I would say Upperman or Livingston though. But then again it could be anybody. It should be a great atmosphere in Baxter when District 7_AA boys and girls basketball get's fired up. I agree i think it's unfair too, but that's what the coaches voted on so there's nothing we can do about it. Let's just let the kids play it out on the court. Good luck to 7AA and i agree, let's go win the region this year!!!! Anybody Please!!!!
  15. Get used to what Wildcat Fan. Sorry but I wouldn't be talking too much about getting used to anything. I believe you guys may need to get used to losing to Upperman. The next few years doesn't look so good for your team. Actually for the next few years you guys may be playing for 3rd or 4th in the district. Sorry but the truth hurts. Oh good luck in the tournament though. We'll leave our smack talk out of this until after the tournaments, how does that sound????
  16. For starters I wasn't calling our gym a tin bucket. If you could read you would have seen that I said Upperman's OLD gym. And yes, I ate some crowe on predicting Upperman to win last night at LA. To tell you the truth it tastes pretty bad. Last night LA was the better team. They just flat out outhustled Upperman in every aspect of the game. I'm not gonna sit here and make excuses for the Lady Bees, because they just plainly got beat. I will however stand by my word and say I think Upperman is a better team. Just not last night. You know you say that Smith Counties gym is bigger. I would like to know how many that gym seats. Because I would doubt it if it is much bigger if any than Uppermans. I know that their gym is laid out like Jackson Counties, and I've seen that gym full with standing room only during regular season games also. I have yet to see Uppermans gym full with people having to stand to watch the game. I don't understand what nerve i hit with you hoops_fan. I don't know how i was being so disrespectful, but whatever.... And yes I remember Smith County beating Upperman last year in the district tournament. Like i've said before anyone can be beat. And again I will stick with my opinion that Smith county doesn't make it out of the district tournament. May be wrong but this is my opinion. Isn't that what these message boards are full of???? Anyways congratulations to Livingstons girls, and boys for that matter for a really well played game. Look forward to seeing these schools meet up again come tournament time. Makes for great High School Basketball.
  17. You'll have to excuse me because i'm not really familiar with some of their names, but Livingston does have some good Sophmores. Chase Dunn is the best sophmore in the district right now. I like the Smith kid too i think he will be fun to watch. I'm not sure how old the big kid isfor livingston but he looks young. I think he willl become a good player too. Upperman has some really good sophmores as well. Carrin Nash (don't know his number) but he played really good against Livingston last night. He is the tall skinny kid who has some great post moves and even stepped out in the corner last night and made a three. His dad is like 6'8 and Carrin is 6"4 right now. They think he'll grow to be about 6'8. Dustin Baxter is a good sophmore as well. And Ethan Christian I think will be a great player eventually. He's still not grown alot and been hampered this year by injuries, but the lefty can shoot and handle the ball really well. Sorry other teams in the district, not leaving you out on purpose just haven't seen many of you play this season.
  18. Well for starters, I can assure you the gym will not be cramped. You can say what you want, but it won't be. However I agree it is an advantage somewhat to the home team to host the tournament. To me sounds like a dumb thing done by all the coaches that voted for this except the Upperman Coach. I would have voted for my home floor too, wouldn't you??? Anyways, I think this district is gonna be very well represented throughout the post season, no matter who it is. I hope (cause i am a bee fan) that is is Upperman, but like others have said they are beatable. I will say however I think if Upperman is playing it's best no team in the district can play with them. That's just my opinion. Back to the gym situation, who in the world would have wanted to play in Smith Counties gym. I'd rather played in Upperman's old tin bucket gym than at that dungeon. Tonight, I say again that Upperman wins in double digits over Livingston. I will aslo say that I know that Livingston is definitely the Number 2 team in the district. Smith County will not make it out of the district tournament!!!!! Anyone agree or disagree? Good luck to all teams in the tournament and tonight, and hopefully no injuries will plague this district like it has in the past postseasons.
  19. I think this will be a very good game. I for one would not miss it for anything. I think that Livingston all around has the better team. I also think the home crowd and the student section will be roaring. However, I am going to say that Livingston gets outcoached in this game. I may be wrong so don't jump down my throat, but McWilliams has always been awesome when playing in big games. I remember when J County had the hands down best team in the district with Heady, Gaw, and those other boys. His coaching won that game by 26 points. Of course it helped that Nick Davis had 44 points. He also took a fair Upperman team to the state tournament with 1 senior a few years back after beating Chattanooga Howard (Who by the way should have won by 20) in Chattanooga. (Again great game plan) Anyways that's my prediction Upperman outcoaching Livingston and they win by 3.
  20. Yes, Upperman has 5 seniors. 4 of them start and one comes off the bench some. They don't have any juniors. However they do play 4 - 5 sophmores. That class is pretty good too. Being a Bee fan it hurts but you have to give the MVP to the best player off of probably the best team and I would definitely give it to Chase Dunn. He does a whole lot for that team. However, My coach of the year goes to McWilliams. He is a unbelievably smart basketball coach. To tell you the truth he doesn't have a whole lot of talent on that team, just some athletes who are really more concerned and ready to start baseball season. He has his team in the position of possibly getting a #1 seed in the tournament. I just don't think you can overlook that. Melton has done well also I agree. Just think his talent level and players are better than Uppermans. As for Martin, no way he wins. Sorry won't happen again this year. Chase Dunn - MVP Bobby McWilliams - Coach of the Year
  21. I will have to say Upperman by 15 or more. I honestly believe Upperman is 20 points better than livngton. However this being a home game for livingston who knows. I think Livingston goes to the bench way too much. I think the starters or top 7 players should be in the game more than they were when they came to baxter. I look for Upperman to win this one in easy fashion. 68-53 Upperman.
  22. I agree wildcat fan, it just seems that refs are way to quick with the technical call. I mean do they not know that every night there will be booing and yelling at refs? They do look as if they are on a power trip. The other night Upperman was playing someone, can't remember who, but I think it was either Livingston or Smith Co. Anyways this ref called a technical on our assitant coach. However, he couldn't tell our head coach what he said, because he wasn't sure. Makes me to wonder if it wasn't maybe someone in the stands. Anyways after making this call he gave a smirky smile towards the bench. After this our team was down i think a couple points so we had to foul. One of our guards went for the ball however with the intention on putting the other team on the line to shoot freethrows. It wasn't a malicious foul by no means, but this same ref runs in and gives the intentional foul sign. As soon as he does this the kid who commited the foul turns toward the bench and claps his hands together one time and tells his bench "My Bad". Next thing I knew here comes a slew of technicals. One on him, another on the entire bench. It seemed like the opposing team shot lilke 8 free throws. This ref is horrible. I know some of the officials and some of them are great people with great respect for the game and schools. this one ref however should be reported. The officiating that night by the other two was acutally pretty good. However this ref ended things badly and unfortunately for the other two refs turned a well officiated game into something of a mess. And i do mean a bad mess...
  23. I will say Upperman #1 No doubt Livingston #2 Had a little fall, but #2 for sure Macon #3 Playing better as of late. Good time to be playing good. York #4 There guards are the reason I have them above Smith Co. Smith Co. #5 Don't think they can handle the press against the other 4 teams. Therefore ferris is a nonfactor.
