  1. Hope Poohman can keep all the turnovers he committed against Craigmont down to a minimum for the rest of the season. Even though in the clutch Gentry is primary ball handlers Holmes has to take care of the ball early on. Chris J isn't Poohman brother either. I'm anxious to see the City Championship on Thursday though.
  2. Hey, which shooter and which quick guard were you referring to?
  3. Oh, I'm not taking anything away for Craigmont for making those plays but when you catch a boy and take TWO steps it should be called. Oh, I didn't expect the technical to be called when they blitzed the court after the game winning shot because I neglected to mention that a few plays earlier a few Craigmont fans ran onto the court and the refs stopped the game. The talked it over for a few minutes with both coaches before resuming the game.
  4. Raleigh-Egypt lost at Craigmont 68-66!!! After Craigmont ties the game with a 3 to make the score 66-66 the inbound pass was stolen with about 12 seconds remaining. The Craigmont guard caught the inbound and took two steps, which were not called by the refs, passed the ball to Forward Zach Jones who shot wild jumpers that bounced in with 3.1 remaining. After the shot the Craigmont side blitz the court!!! When ordered was restored Raleigh-Egypt Guard Whitmore threw the ball into play and with a desperation heave at about 30 ft. star Guard Gentry Hines missed a 3. Absolute chaos for the Number team in the state. Refs stretched the 2nd half out so long, the 4th quarter in particular, with foul after foul (mostly on Raleigh-Egypt) it felt like the game had went into overtime.
  5. Man, he was definitely D-I material and had he played college ball long enough we would've found out how much NBA potential he had. If he would've made to a D-I school (he wanted to go to Memphis to be another home town hero) after playing JUCO he would've made someone a nice point guard even though he played 2 guard most of his high school career (Antonio Burks was his PG when he was in 9th and 10th, Andre Allen was his PG his Senior year). He had all the skills to learn the position in JUCO. When he got of jail in May of 2006 he enrolled at Lemoyne Owen College here in South Memphis for the 2006-2007 season but that's all he played. I just saw him Sunday before last out on the town and he hasn't changed much. He plays ball around town at local churches like World Overcomers in East Memphis. He still has that gun too!!! It's still amazing how he handles the ball and it doesn't matter who is in his face because when he wants to the ball is going up, lol! As far as I know the single game 3 pointer attempts and 3 point makes records still stand. In mid-Dec. 2000 while playing at Manassas he hit 24 of 44 3's and finished with either 81 or 83 points. Oh, yeah, when he was locked up he averaged around 37 per game in the prison league.
  6. Well, actually, the kid you're referring to, "Tank" Brown, is 6'4". My boys are looking good and I believe Coach Adams might have found a rotation he can go with after loosing Reggie Fondren, who was starting at the 3. They play three games down in Atlanta this weekend and hopefully they'll have a strong showing. By the way, Unapproved Website has Raleigh-Egypt ranked 50 right now.
  7. Great way to start the year! I don't know how Coach Adams had ended up scheduling Ridgeway and White Station back to back nights for the FIRST TWO GAMES of the year. Usually Raleigh-Egypt doesn't play these two schools till the beginning of December.
  8. When they last played in this tournament two years ago Raleigh-Egypt won.
  9. I'll agree with you on Hall not being ranked anymore because I just checked the the rankings and he's nowhere to be found and he shouldn't be to be honest. I saw him play when he first got eligible last year when White Station played Raleigh-Egypt in the sub state game this past season. He's an okay player nothing spectacular. The Pharaoh's Arnett Moultrie (now at UTEP) took him to the hole several times and he couldn't do nothing about it. He's also closer to 6'7" than his listed 6'8". I might have to take a look at Buckner this season so I need to check out Manassas' schedule and figure out which big game I might can check out.
  10. Well, terop, he's a pretty fluid player. He's got a nice spin that he used 3 times tonight. After sitting out all year he looked fully charged but it is just going to be really tough for them to beat Coach Wes Henning and Ridgeway after all they just lost to them in the Region 8AAA final with Hall playing. Raleigh-Egypt was everyones favorite to knock off Ridgeway!!!
  11. Well, looks like Ridgeway is the favorite to win AAA this year with White Station getting plenty of help from the referees tonight in their win over Raleigh-Egypt. White Station will have to play much better if they think they're going to make it to the finals. Farrakan Hall is pretty good but Arnett Moultiere gave him all he could handle tonight. If anyone watched tonight's Raleigh-Egypt Vs. White Station game they'll tell you that they wouldn't want that officiating crew working any of the State tournament games. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  12. So, that means Ridgeway is up on Kirby by one game and has the inside track to the City. It's stupid to me that when they did the redistrict that put Raleigh-Egypt and Craigmont with the county schools. Cordova was just recently annexed by Memphis City Schools so they could stay in 14AAA with no problems. When Raleigh-Egypt moved back into AAA from AA for the 2005-2006 season they should've just put back in 15AAA and they should've left in Craigmont in 16AAA where they always were. Playing one game that counts for 2 losses isn't fair.
  13. I knew I wasn't the only one who understood that. Appreciate it Westtn. The Kirby loss that Raleigh-Egypt suffered has become a monkey wrench on the quest to get back to the City. Everyone knew that Ridgeway was going to be big rivalry game that could've swung either way (unfortunately nobody thought it would end up in the refs hands). Now, Raleigh-Egypt has 4 MIAA losses and Ridgeway only has 2 so they're going to need some help.
  14. Yeah, Manassas is playing some ball but they're lost some games recently. We'll see how they pan out through this last month of the regular season. Ridgeway CAN NOT play Kirby in the City Championship because both of them are in the same division!!! One of them will have to win out to reach the City.
  15. Ok, lets see, from what I heard Raleigh-Egypt had just had a bad game against Kirby themselves and could've won if they would've taken care of business. As far the Pharoahs loosing talent, yeah, they lost Mr. Basketball Maurice Miller but reloaded with more talent and this year's team is better than last year's. True enough Arnett Moultrie has to get stronger but he has plenty of time to grow, he's only 16!!! Last night he played big and was his best game that I've seen him play this year. Their shooters are better than you think Trader. I'll will give you the benefit of the doubt that Ridgeway lost that game to Kirby and they'll come into their rematch better prepared. I was at the Ridgeway at Raleigh-Egypt game and Jason Jones along with Sampson Carter are both very good players but they had help that night from the referees when they waived off a put back that was well before the horn. That was a great game by the top two teams in the city unfortunately for Raleigh-Egypt they just simply got cheated. The Ridgeway and Kirby rematch will probably be good but they can't play each other for the City TraderB because both of them are in the same division. All of 15AAA along with Raleigh-Egypt and Craigmont from 14AAA are in the same division. That winner will face the best team from 16AAA which seems to be Central at the moment. Too bad Ridgeway doesn't have a rematch with Raleigh-Egypt. Ridgeway dogged White Station by 34 last night but WS is no where they used to be. Don't put Ridgeway in the City just yet. As for the District playoffs I would expect that Coach Henning won't have a slip up like they did last year finishing in the the consolation game. By the way, are you Ridgeway alum???
  16. Raleigh Egypt (actually spelled Raleigh-Egypt with the hyphen in between) just beat Craigmont by 28!!!!! The second half was disastrous for the Chiefs they had turnover after turnover. Terrico White was locked down for most of the night by Anthony Jones Jr. who himself had 3 dunks and finished with around 22. The City Championship race is getting heated up with the emergence of Kirby. The back-to-back defending champion Pharoahs will need some help from someone to get back to the City since Kirby has beaten Raleigh Egypt and Ridgeway and controls their own destiny. What are y'alls thoughts on the City and playoff race?
  17. Well, the four choices of the Memphis teams are not too bad but it's too bad they ALL can't get to State. It's only possible for two teams from Memphis to make it to State. Ridgeway (District 15 AAA) and Central (16 AAA) are in Region 8 AAA. Raleigh Egypt (why do always forget the hyphen) and Craigmont are both in Region 7, District 14 AAA. These two regions' top two teams would play each other in the Sub-State game and two would be eliminated thus only two from Memphis can only make it to State. Don't know too much about Central yet. Raleigh-Egypt plays them in 2 weeks we'll see how they'll do. Ridgeway in still pretty good and they have a tough test @ Raleigh-Egypt this coming Friday. Don't let Craigmont fool you. They had a fluke year last year with their first time getting to State. Craigmont has had way better talent (Keiron Shine, Big Steve Jackson, Jeremy Hunt) and teams (i.e. their 1999-2000 team was loaded and included Big Steve Jackson and Jeremy Hunt). They're not doing too well this year as evidenced by their 4 losses and they haven't started playing the tought city teams yet!!! Raleigh-Egypt had a solid win against White Station on this past Friday and are looking in great shape to make another run. Personally, even though White Station is my alma mater's arch rival, they are talented, go about 8-9 deep, and haven't got transfer Wing Farrakahn until the Christmas break. Looks to be a good regular season here in Memphis!!!
  18. Well, I just witnessed my Pharaohs go down to a very, very good Ridgeway squad and would say they're going to bring it home to Memphis. Mark my words. Craigmont has always had some players with talent over the years but the 3 players with talent this year aren't going to bring the gold ball home. It's their first year ever at State anyways. We'll see how they progress down the road. Although, seeing a rematch of Craigmont and Ridgeway in the championship game would be nice. Craigmont won their previous matchup this year at Craigmont. Good luck Ridgeway! They've got another championship quality team and Coach Wes Henning to win it all.
  19. Congratulations to my Alma Mater on a great year!!!!!!!!! They went to the Sweet 16 with a lesser, guard oriented team than in past years. They came back from 16 down at halftime and made it a real ball game. With 2.8 seconds left Moe Miller got the inbounds pass at halfcourt and drew a blocking foul and went to the free throw line with 2.1 left. His first show bounced off the lefthand side of the rim and a timeout was called. He had to intentionally miss the next free throw which he did but he didn't draw rim and it was an air ball. Another timeout was called to ice Ridgeway on the inbounds pass. After the timeout, the Ridgeway player threw the inbounds pass to about halfcourst and it was INTERCEPTED by Pharaoh power forward Tank Brown which he dribbled and put up from about 25 feet out at the top of key. The was barely off and bounced up and Raleigh-Egypt guard Grandberry tip up right as the the horn sounded. Tough loss for the Pharaohs at home but they've had a great year! The #22 Nationally ranked Pharaohs are the reigning AAA City and Region 7 AAA Champions!!!!!! Plenty of talent to build with next year starting with Guard Gentry Hines who apparently has at least another college looking at him as I observed an Ole Miss recruiter at the game. Hopefully, Coach Jimmy Adams with take the reigns again for another run at state!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. In AAA Maurice Miller is considerably the best player and should win Mr. Basketball for AAA!!!!!!!!!! The Pharaohs, reigning AAA City Champions, will receive a berth and defend their title in the City Championship game tonight with a win against Craigmont.
  21. From what I remember, I could be wrong, it's on Feb. 15. The game is supposed to played at The Coliseum like it was in 2005. It would've been played in The Coliseum last year but we had that sleet storm last year during the same time and they crowned Raleigh-Egypt and Hamilton Co-Champions since they couldn't reschedule the game.
  22. Lake Howell, FL. lost to South Medford, OR. and Raleigh-Egypt avenged a Jan. 6 76-71 loss to Vashon, MO. in the consolation game. Don't know what the score was though.
  23. South Medford, OR. won the whole tournament. But, apparently my alma mater, Raleigh-Egypt, won the consolation game because their record went to 13-3.
  24. Don't know what the score was between Raleigh-Egypt and Lincoln but apparently they won because in the Championship game last night they posted a 75-73 victory over a school from Rhode Island. Looking good Coach Adams!!!!!!
