I think Rankin should be able to hold as many fingers for championships as he has won at Riverdale + Alcoa. I believe that would be 6 or 7 fingers total.

Went by the hotel where a few friends from Maryville were staying and saw Coach Sheppard, former Halls coach. As we were talking another coach came up and asked him if he had heard about a certain Middle Tennesse coach being fired. Now here is where it really gets good - it was a class 1A coach getting fired and one of the Head Coaches from the 5A schools tonight would be leaving there school and going to MTCS. Now I want swear to it but I thouight they said it was Coach Shadowens (Smyrna). Has any one heard this before now. Gotta go late to see Fulton win.

Halls does not have that young of a coaching staff. Ward is 60ish, Julian, Hurst, Kirby are all in there 40's (I believe). To me that ain't young, now if your 70 then 40 is young.

Just an opinion or two. Coach Hurst is a name that I have heard along with Coach Quarle, from Halls. Haven't heard Coach Hassell. Hurst would be the logical choice of the three because of age and experience. He would probably want to hire Coach Ward, his former high school coach to run the offense. reddevilfever, You sound like you know something from behind the scenes on Caoch Mac and Coach Shep. I think you are right that Coach Mac will take over for Joel Helton. Now you said Coach Shep would not leave Clarksville to back to E. Tenn. I have heard many rumors saying he was going to go back into college coaching because his is good friends with the coaches at Austin Peay and at Tenn. Tech. Now have you heard these rumors or are they just rumors? Do you have any information on how his team did this past year in Clarksville? Please share

Dob't think they ever played both at the dome. I heard some coaches from K-town that made the trip down there and they said it was the best two days of nothing but football they had ever spend.

With the Blue Cross series starting next Friday night, I looked at the match-ups. No private in 1A, one in 2A, one in 3A, none in 4A, none in 5A. How many private schools will walk off the field at MTSU this coming up Friday and Saturday with a W I N ? None, nada, zilch, zero If you count Maryville with there transfers, you will have one chump, er champ!

If my info is right in Ga. they play the semi's at the dome then go back to the HS for the finals. It is my understanding they will change this next year to have the finals in the dome and NOT the semi's.

I heard the only reason Maryville isn't 5A now is because some schools in Franklin/Williams Co. moved to 5A and those numbers keep Maryville down.

Why is Wesley Kitts from Knox Halls not on the East team? This young man carried Halls on his back in many games this year , had over 1300 yards rushing close to 20 TD's and is not selected. WHY, WHY, WHY?

I think sneakypete is sneaking around on us. All it says about Coach Qualls is he worked with the DB. I thought Coach Williams (the short real stocky coach) was the DB coach. Now if I am correct he has not been a cordinater ever and IMPO that would be hard for him to be a head coach Unless he hired some great coach's and he just let them coach and he orginized everything. Don't get mad its just an opinion.

I bet sneakypete knows something. When you look back over his comments, he most often talks about the Red Devils and almost always about N. Knox teams (Halls, Powell, Central). Ain't gonna bet on it but I'm guessing he knows more than he wants to let on about or he works at Halls and knew for sure that Houston Quarles would like to have that job.

fairplay, Thanks for the low down. If their is truely a 3 week layoff for lifting, we wont be able to start until after Christmas break will we? We would only have a week where we could lift before school is out. Can they do any lifting during the break or is that a violation too?

I have not heard when the ground breaking will take place but until it gets completed I have two questions? 1. Why not have the players lift at different times? I know some are probably in Coach J's weight class, but some could lift in the morning, during class, and the rest in the afternoon. 2. Is it true that you must take off 3 weeks from your end of your season before you start lifting again? Waiting on the answers.

I don't think Qualls will get the Gibbs job. Nothing against him but what in his background, shows that he can coordinate an entire program. Yes, he lived in Gibbs and his brother played there, but that does not mean he will get hired there. If that is what he wants, then best of luck to him.

Aren't they holding an all-star game in Memphis the same day as the TACA game at Carson Newman College? Not good planning unless they didn't want the Memphis schools involved.
