CAK is a good team Loco. We shot really well in the 1st quarter against them Friday and opened up an early lead. They kept it at around 8-12 points until late in the game. CAK is well coached and has some smart, athletic players. This should be a close game. I might have to hang around and watch some of this one Tuesday night. So do you think The Eagles will have any problems with Coalfield...??? Go Eagles...!!!

I've seen some pretty amazing stuff from Mark McGaha this year. He's not afraid to take on anybody and everybody. I remember one move in front of the Cosby bench when he faked a defender and the guy fell down, then came out of the game limping. Of course, I yelled "NEXT". But because of the timing and the importance, the Rockwood shot has to top the list. What a great newspaper front page shot. From looking at the picture it's hard to believe the shot went in. Go Eagles...!!!

You'll have to excuse ShaniaGuy. He had a couple of hundred Rockwood fans screaming behind him the other night and I don't think he's over it yet. I do agree that I would love to see a 3rd game in the region championship. (of course we would have prefered to play Oakdale) I think we are the two best teams in the region. Both teams have a lot of basketball to play before worrying about region champ. yet. Go Eagles...!!!

1st of all GOzzz, sorry about the Dollywood comment yesterday. That must have been a typo I am a little nervous about this opening tournament game but I am also confident. I realize it's tough to beat a team three times but I don't think Coach Flatford and Cosby's Seniors will allow Greenback to pull off an upset. I just hope these two explosive teams are allow to lace 'em up and PLAY BALL this game. Greenback didn't really show up at Cosby and the whole deal with the clock and the 100 fouls called at Greenback, never allowed either team to really get into any kind of flow. The team that wins better hope that CAK can beat Midway or that will be a tough championship game. Go Eagles...!!!

I really hope Mark will make all-state this year. I'm not sure about his stats but he has lead The Cosby Eagles to a 23-2 regular season record. And until you see Mark play, you have no idea how lighting fast he is with the ball. Mark's not afraid to drive to the hoop against anybody. At rockwood during the final seconds of overtime, Mark took the ball the full length of the court and took on everybody. If you have read his post in the "Cosby's Mark McGaha" thread you can get an idea of what kind of team player he is. The Cosby Eagles are planning on playing a lot more games the next few weeks. When is the voting for all-state selections..?? Go Eagles...!!!

Unaka has a lot talent but they are young. I compare them to Cosby last year after Eric Coggins graduation. It's hard to replace 40-60 points a game on offense when you lose a superstar and a few other key seniors. Unaka is well coached and they will be a factor in the tournaments the next few weeks. I hope we don't have to try to beat them a 3rd time. Go Eagles...!!!

Wow, what a great post by a great player. For everyone that doesn't know Mark, that wasn't BS that's the way he feels about his team, coaches and fans. If The Eagles don't win another game this year, I'm very proud of all of them because of their great attitudes & hard work (on the court and in the classroom). This year's team is a TEAM. It's possible to beat 6 or 7 players but if you want to beat The Eagles, you have to beat ALL The Eagles Congrats on the shot at Rockwood, Mark, you'll remember that one forever. This is a talented district. Last year in the region district three lost all four games in the 1st round. Let's hope The Lady Eagles can keep that from happening again this year. Go Lady Eagles...!!!

I am married to an English teacher at Cosby. That's why I always give the Cosby students and players a hard time about their spelling and grammar. The students at both schools did seem pretty well behaved. Most of our rowdiest (myself included) and loudest fans are former students, parents or just Cosby supporters. I heard your fan in the wheelchair had a lot of nice things to say to our players. I enjoyed my 1st trip to Rockwood. It's a nice gym but the players using the bleachers as a bench does seem to be a problem. Go Eagles...!!!

Wow, this thread has a lot of posts since I read it last. EagleEye22, you must have had a great English teacher pointing out all those mistakes. I've been down that road with Locco before, he just doesn't get it but he's a great supporter of his team on this board. ShaniaGuy however, should know better. This was a great high school basketball game. What was said, thrown, or gestured in the heat of the moment during that intense contest is over and should be forgot and not rehashed over & over here on CoachT. Both teams have great fan bases and it was an intense contest. I however have heard reports from the players that "the rude and tasteless" comments from near the bench were unbelieveable. I agree with the couple of posters that have talked about what a great game it was and how great the sportsmanship was between the teams and coaches. Let's support our teams but bashing other fans, players, coaches is not the way to do it. These are the two best teams I have seen play this year (and yes I was at the hancock game). I hope it works out so both teams can end up in a sub-state game and not have to play in a semi-final. I think both teams would represent East Tennesse well at The 'Boro. Go Eagles...!!!

I was wondering if it would be possible to make the Cosby vs CAK game on 1/6 an away game for The Eagles and the 2/17 game a home game. These two games were reversed for some reason. The game is Monday at 5pm (girls) I guess a bunch of talent, great coaching and super fans have nothing to do with all our wins. Hard to call it home cooking when Cosby averages 75 points at home and the visitors are averaging 55 points. We just have better teams. Go Eagles...!!!

For some reason I couldn't remember what the tiebreaker was. Both teams 7-1 and split the regular season games.(I hope) The overall records aren't factor???, it is a coin toss.?? 3A the #1 seed will get a 1st round bye at Midway. Go Eagles...!!!

I can't wait for this re-match. With a win Monday night The Cosby Lady Eagles will finish 8-0 in the district for the 2nd year in a row. Both teams are going for regular season win #20 (combined record of 38-6 right now). Also The Cosby Eagles would be undefeated at home this year. I did not see the game at CAK but several of the players told me it was their worst game of the year. I think The Eagles will be ready to play Monday and being at home will be a big advantage... I just realized that I'm not sure what the tie-breaker is if we both finish 7-1. Is it overall record or a coin flip.? Whoever has to play Midway at Midway the 1st game of the district could end up with a quick loss and have to play a tough 1st game in the region. I can't wait 'till tournament time. Go Eagles...!!!

I strongly agree with the last 1/3 of this quote. I remember a parent of an all-state player and former player(now teacher) saying/yelling (yep Cman- PW) to a group of refs: " The players are the stars tonight, not you guys" So many games it seems like the officials have to "take control" and never let the players play the game. I even saw an example of this last weekend at at 7-8 yr old rec. game. LET THE PLAYERS BE THE STARS... Go Eagles...!!! [Edited by CosbyEagle on 2-12-03 9:40P]
