  1. I think Volunteer will have to play a near flawless game to beat Greeneville. I agree that the IMAC as a whole is much weaker than the Big 9 but it would be a longshot for Volunteer to emerge victorious in this one!! Good luck to both teams tho! I hope it turns out to be a great game!
  2. That is not a fair statement to make! SG fans are some of the most loyal and supportive fans you will come across! WG fans think the same way about WG as SG fans do about SG...and WG doesnt have the track record that SG does either. While yes i agree that the SG coach made a mistake in that game, she is still a new coach...it would not have happened that way with LNR coaching. Dont take this coaching error and use it to take cheapshots and make comments on a rival schools fans or players. Show some Class
  3. SHHS coach came onto the floor thinking that Wattad was hurt after the hard foul...thus Wattad had to exit the game. When a coach or trainer comes onto the floor to check on a player that player HAS to exit until at least 1 second ticks off the clock. I was there to watch tonite and had no idea what had happened until after the game when I spoke with the officials who called the game, but that was what happened. Both games were great games! Congrats to all 4 of the teams tonite! DB came up just short but showed a lot of heart at the end of the game. I really dont understand the DB's coach calling a Timout as Sensabaugh was driving to the bucket in OT, that was a huge mistake!....but hey we all make them. Congrats to Tennessee High for taking the crown! Good luck to all the teams in the next few days!
  4. Very Well Said... ONE offensive rebound??? I was there and didnt even realize that...after being outrebounded by CCHS it looks like they did the adjusting they needed to do! Congrats to GHS on their win, and The Lady Red for making it a great tournament! Would have been more fitting for the GHS and CCHS game the other night to have been the Championship game tho...watch out for CCHS the next few years! Good luck to everyone in the region!!!!
  5. What are your thoughts PT??? How big of a role does Deans play on the GHS team?
  6. we are talking about tournament MVP and you are entitled to your opinion...but ask anyone who is familiar with GHS basketball about Deans....they will all tell you the same-she is the backbone of that team!...Isnt it past your bedtime anyway man? You have school bright and early! HAHA
  7. yeah i def agree with this...She played great throughout the whole tourney...second choice would have been Deans....she is the glue that holds greeneville high together! congrats tho to dickson
  8. any body have the scores from tonite?
  9. I went out to watch the game tonite and wanted to say congrats to WG. For the most part it was a well played ballgame on the Buffs behalf, and yes this win does guarantee 3 more games for WG. Good luck to ya! Hope you represent Greene County well!!!
  10. It would go in the order that it happened. The guy who was fouled would shoot the free throws if it was a shooting foul, and then the Technical freethrows would be given....
  11. Just as everyone else has said, this has been a great year for PF! Congrats on the great season! Keep it up and good luck in the tournament...and good luck tomorrow night!
  12. I agree with most of this post, except about Thom Mather...from what i have seen of him he is average, nothing special except the height he will bring to the team. He needs to work on his coordination and the ability to move with ball to be succesfull on the varsity level. SG boys will get better over the next few years especially with the 8th graders that will be coming up next year. Although most of them are guard, SG basketball is all about shooting the jumpshots anyway. They havent had a real powerhouse down low since the days when Phillip Waddell played for them. They have 8-10 good players coming up from both Nolachucky and Towering Oaks next year. It will be interesting to see how they do. Good luck to them and to the rest of Greene County Basketball...
  13. sounds like they need to work on foul shots at practice! hitting only 1 freethrow is definately a reason to get beat! And the facts finally start to come out....
  14. Do you blame everything on the refs...the refs rarely make a difference in the outcome of the game...they are just everyone scapegoat. I will give credit where credit is due...WG has had a good season...an above average season for them....congrats...i hope you all continue to improve and i hope that the games between greene county schools get even more competitive...but dont blame the refs for a team playing badly or for a loss....that teaches the players its ok to make excuses and not take responsibility for their own actions and that is not what the kids today need to be taught...
  15. I completely agree with this...In the 15 years i have been an official i have seen many games that the fouls are lopsided...its not our fault as officials that one team plays more aggresively than the other...as a whole, we call what we see and dont make things up or let things slide... And if that really did happen with intentionals and the way the official addressed the coach then that is unacceptable and i also agree that you should send the tape in to the TSSAA... Most officials do a excellent job and put forth a great effort in officiating games but NO MATTER WHAT THE RESULT IS....SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS BE MAD.....thats just the life of a ref!!!!!
  16. I think its you gdfan91...when you first joined this board you signed your posts "go wiggins" and the posts of wiggins30 sound quite a bit like some of your previous posts...so you should stop....
  17. You are right he does get irate sometimes, but in my experience with Coach Duncan he generally asks about things in the right manner. What he does when our backs are turned may be another story tho and the way he works some of the newer faces may be another story as well... This also brings up a good point...when a coach goes to an official in a respectable manner he is given a answer in a respectable tone and manner MOST of the time...Its when coaches go irate and begin yelling and raising heck that they get the dreaded Technical foul called on them. As for me personally, this is my 15th year of officiating high school basketball and when i am next to a coach he can talk to me all he wants and say ALMOST anything he wants...its when they begin screaming and yelling over calls or when they continue talking about a call that happened 10 trips down the floor ago that they get the T....Respect=Respect....
  18. Coty Sensabaugh from DB signed with Clemson to play football yesterday...and after he dominated SHHS last nite...maybe their basketball program should consider him along side Oglesby...Two East TN boys on the floor at Clemson sure would be nice to see!
  19. Exactly right...he does make all greeneville fans look bad... When are you coming back down to planet earth gdfan91??? To win GHS will have to play better than they have all year and SHHS or DB will have to not play as well as they have been. While greeneville has a better record than SHHS, they are not the better team this year...and with DB beating SHHS twice this year...it looks like they are not the second best team either....Just some advice dude...crawl out of whatever hole you have been living in and come back to reality....GHS is not the same team as they were several years ago when they made so far in state, and they will not be that team in the next few years either....
  20. Haha this is so true...the gamecocks fans are ruthless! A close second to Greene County fans... Just an observation...Although many coaches are this way...the cocke county boys coach whines over every call. He tries to work the officials, but neglects his coaching sometimes becaue he is complaing so much. I watched him about two weeks ago and he recieved a T...once he got the T on him he actually coached his team and did a great job...A lot of coaches should worry more about their players and coaching than trying to work the officials, they would win more ballgames like that. When a coach complains over every call he teaches his kids that it is ok to do the same. It kinda gives them the mentality that the officials are out to get them while this is just not the case. Most ALL the officials are unbiased and work hard. Maybe the coaches and players should play and coach and not try and referee the games...it would make a huge difference in the games...
  21. This post shows your ignorance...you are probably one of those people who have had everything handed to you in life and have never been in trouble because it was always someone elses fault. You need to hush until you put on the stripes and whistle and get out there and try to ref a game...any game...even a midget level girls game...you would find a new appreciation for what these guys do every night. Keep in mind that players dont make 100% of their shots, and officials dont get 100% of their calls correct. You cant blame officials for the players missing shots and you cant make excuses all your life... Grow up...
  22. Politics is a problem with just about anything these days. As far as officials being too old or overweight and unable to get in position...I completely agree! Some of the guys that I call with have been doing this for 40 years. They love the kids and love the game and really do enjoy calling. I also agree that we need some younger officials to come in to the associations and start calling some. Its a great way to make a little bit of extra money and to stay in shape! As far as having thick skin...when i first started officiating...i had the thinnest skin of them all! My temper was horrible! But the more you work, the easier it is to let things roll of your back. As an official...you will make someone mad every time you step on the floor. It is a thankless job, but we all love to do it anyway! It is great to watch players and coaches develop as athletes and people...I wouldnt trade it for the world!!!
  23. Greeneville has the best shot from the IMAC, but they are gonna have to step there game up to a new level to win the region. They have the potential and the ability to win it, but whether or not they will is a differents story... I would look for Science Hill to continue playin well...DB is coming along quite nicely as well...
