  1. It’s hard to believe that neither Anderson County nor Red Bank have radio coverage. I’ve searched online, and have had no luck.
  2. Wondering why Oliver went to DB rather than Science HIll? Does his family reside in Kingsport, or JC? I assumed that the ETSU coach would live in JC, and if so, that would have to sting the coaching staff at Science Hill. If they are JC residents, how does Kingsport city schools allow Johnson CIty residents to attend? I'd guess that it's the same as any tuition student, although you generally associate tuition students as being from the county, rather than other cities.
  3. I was wondering the same thing. Possibly 2012 when they played Alcoa during the regular season and lost 0-42. That same season, they lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Fulton 14-42. before that, you can go back to 2005, and Mo-West beat them 0-48.
  4. Big break, GV didn’t capitalize. That was a backbreaker. If AC scores here, it’s over. Dabbs must really be hurt, he’s a non-factor.
  5. WVLT channel 8 of Knoxville is televising it. With a good OTA antenna, you can watch it. I watched the Elizabethton vs Anderson County game last night.
  6. Assuming the AC & GHS scores hold up, Does Region 1or Region 2 host the quarterfinals game next week?
  7. Whether I know him or not has no bearing on whether or not he is one of the best coaches in the state. So far you’ve made juvenile comments and called names, yet you still haven’t answered my inquiry: what criteria would you use to consider him one of the best in the state? I’ll hang up and listen.
  8. Just as I suspected. You couldn't back your assertion with data, so just throw out juvenile insults. Needless to say, you have met my expectations. Since you are either unwilling to do the leg-work, or ashamed to post them, I can help you with some statistics. Gillum's record: Scott High School 3 seasons 14-16 Anderson County 13 seasons 108-45 12-9 in playoffs, never made it past 3rd round. In 4 of those 13 seasons, he's had a losing record. At this point, he's a good coach, but far from "one of the best coaches in the state", as you've asserted.
  9. Based on what criteria? Maybe one of the top-10 coaches in the Knoxville area. Not sure this will change until he wins something.
  10. I wasn’t griping at all, only trying to get clarification on your comment concerning how the scheduling can’t be helped. If you’re saying the kids can’t help it, I’d agree. However, if you’re saying the schedule situation can’t be helped, you’re off-base. The coaches and administrators have absolute control over the non-conference schedule.
  11. Not sure what this means. Do you mean the kids can’t help who they play? I agree that they don’t control the conference portion of the schedule, but the coaches/administration have complete say in the non-conference part. Playing cupcakes don’t help when the the playoffs start.
  12. What was the subject of the 30 for 30? I thought I'd seen them all, but must have missed some, because I don't recall seeing Jason in any of them. I seem to recall an ESPN E60 special that featured him, but don't remember the details.
  13. Was the kicker not capable from there? Seems like Elizabethton missed a great chance to win it.
  14. I agree Swipes. I'm not sure how Trap reaches that conclusion. 2 common opponents tell us very little. Boone looked much better against MoWest, but GHS looked better against Betsy than Boone, who looked pretty weak.
  15. And ultimately, who cares about "them giving us respect"? I'm assuming the OP is referring to the state polls. Again, who cares? It's a a poll from sports writers who've only seen a handful of teams play. The championship is decided in a tournament(playoffs), and there's no question about the champion. It's simple.....win a title, get respect. Polls haven't decided a champion since the college football went to the BCS championship in 1998.
  16. Swipes, I agree that those 2017 & 2018 teams were special, and I don’t think we’ll ever see a dominant team like those again. The penalty situation was better, but it was a completely different situation than the Betsy or MoWest games. I hope I’m wrong about them being average, but I feel they were very average in the only 2 tests that they’ve had (I’m referring to the offense). The 21 points against Elizabethton wasn’t terrible, but I’m not sure what the MoWest game means. They were demolished by Boone, who struggled with Betsy. The Grainger game means nothing because Chuckey-Doak scored 56 against them, and Sullivan East played them close. Watching them last year and this year gives me reason to think if you make Quillen pass, GHS will struggle. Cannon seems to be a better passer, but the offense seems to be geared for a runner like Quillen. I can’t put my finger on it, but the offense never seemed to get into a rhythm against the 2 quality teams this year. I think the defense will keep them in the game against Dobyns Bennett, the question is, can they score?
  17. Blazer1Set is correct about the GHS penalty situation. They were bad against Betsy, but worse against Mo-West where they racked up 17 or 18 penalties for ~180 yards. Greeneville is 5-0, but this isn’t the same 5-0 that you would have seen from the 2017 and 2018 teams. I thought they’ve looked average thus far. They can’t dominate like the GHS teams of recent years, and the QB is average at best and is sub-par as a passer. I expect a close game, and wouldn’t be surprised to see D-B finally break the losing streak that they’re in(against GHS). As someone mentioned, the D-B schedule hasn’t exactly been a juggernaut up to this point, so we really don’t know what they have either.
  18. I’m a GHS fan, but the whining by the Greeneville radio play-by-play guy is growing old. He continually cries about the uniform penalties, which the long snapper had on consecutive snaps. He also had one against‘ Betsy the previous week. It is inexcusable to repeatedly get this same infraction. 180 yards in penalties is a major concern, and will be the difference in a close game. Spradlen MUST get this fixed.
  19. Why does Greeneville not allow teams to stream? I remember that Dobyns-Bennett wasn’t allowed to stream their game from Burley Stadium. D-B video streamed their games on YouTube, but GHS wouldn’t allow it. Sounds like Tim Taylor ran into the same issue. Are they seriously afraid of this hurting the gate? Not sure if it’s arrogance or pettiness.
  20. Saw that Anthony Peterson was listed as a player to watch in the Knoxville News-Sentinel preview. Didn't he move back to Florida, or was that incorrect information?
