  1. True, the CHS rank may cost him the MVP. In that case, Teichmann likely gets the nod.
  2. Philly, no need to get upset, ha. I appreciate your opinion, that is why I asked you a question. My point is this: I have seen the top teams play multiple times and I am just giving an opinion as well. We all know the coaches vote and they aren't all about points, like most fans. Young is a fine player, but Kelly is a consistently dominating player that makes every team play defense differently. 30 a night (as I said, its not all about points, but this is impossible to ignore) in this district is unreal, especially considering all the attention he receives from defenses. By the way, hasn't Kelly won the award 2 years in a row?
  3. PhillyFanatic, are you serious? I have been to at least 7 FHS games this year and I'm not sure Young is even the best player on the Franklin team, much less the best in the district. Kelly is the clear number 1, with Teichmann a close 2nd. Congrats to Franklin AGAIN for winning the district. Pretty amazing streak for Coach Johnson and the Rebels. Maybe next year will finally be the year somone else breaks through.
  4. It has been a strange year for CHS. I really thought they would challenge for the title.....of course, they could go on a run thru the tourney, but that would be a shocker. If MVP is to be from top tier only, then my votes would go: 1 Teichmann, 2 Haddix 2 Carden. If record is not a factor, then my votes would go: 1 Kelly, 2 Teichmann, 3 Haddix 3 Carden.
  5. Webb should take the place of which DLHS player? I know 3 players can make the team, however not sure 4 off one team will fly, even if it is a top tier team. MVP: 1st place: Z Mason 2nd place: Hunter Miller
  6. Great points BigPoppa, however I think the MVP is considered the best player (most talented) in the league, not the most valuable for their particular team. Most valuable for their team becomes a very subjective vote and brings a player from almost every team into the discussion. I do understand your point and this debate keeps coming up every year. I do agree that Teichmann is a close 2nd in the MVP race. He is an extremely productive go-to player and the fact he is the best player on one of the top teams makes him a serious contender.
  7. Great point by brentwoodking regarding my MVP choice from a lower tier team. I usually prefer that the MVP does come from a top tier team, however, this year I felt Kelly was the clear choice as Best Player in 11-AAA. To my knowledge, he is the only D1 recruit at this point. I think the other top players are going to end up at the NAIA or DII, DIII level.
  8. Top Tier Teams: Franklin (3): James Haddix, Michael Young, Peyton Henry Brentwood (3): Kyle Teichmann, David Hood, Kevin Bach Indy (2): Blake Carden, Ryan Eilermann Bottom Tier Teams Hillsboro: Arthur McMillan Centennial: Drew Kelley (MVP) Ravenwood: Richmond Watkins Overton: Patrick McPhail Hillwood: none Top Coaches: Coach King Coach Johnson
  9. Top Tier Teams: CPA (3): Z.Mason, Hunter Miller, David Anderson DL (3): Caleb Simpson, Carter Sanderson, Trevor Hunt Hume Fogg (2): Adrian Williamson, Justin Claybrook MLK: Antone Christian Bottom Tier: East Lit: Jonathan Calvin Ezell-Harding: Lance Capitano FRA: none Pearl Cohn: none
  10. Predicted Order of finish: 1. Franklin 2. Indy 3. Brentwood 4. Overton 5. Hillsboro 6. Centennial 7. Ravenwood 8. Hillwood
  11. I have seen this Franklin team play a few times this year and I have come away impressed each time. Appear to be a very complete unit: Big Man, Point Guard, Shooters, Defenders, Rebounders, Deep Bench, Good Coaching and unselfish. I would rank Ensworth, Siegel, and Franklin as the top 3 teams in MidTN, and expect to see all three go deep into State tourney. I believe Gallatin, Beech, and Maplewood are in the next tier of 3, but certainly capable of beating anyone. Overall, defense is the common denominator with these teams and it makes for some intense high school basketball. Fun stuff.
  12. CPA's performance this year is disappointing. I saw BA play in the Ensworth tourney and was not impressed. What happened to the CPA team of last year? Didn't most of their starters return?
  13. I have seen several games this season, but yet to see Brentwood. I had heard they would be challenging Franklin this year for the District title. Can someone give some insight into their slow start?
  14. This is developing into one of Nashville's best rivalries and the atmosphere will be super. As for the outcome, it will be very tough for DLHS to pick up a win over CPA.......unless Z gets into foul trouble. CPA by 10.
  15. Metro, at this point in time, you are dead on. 1. Antioch . . . 2. McGavock/Franklin . . . 3. The rest of the region.
  16. Excellent point. Summer camps are used by coaches to determine which guys have stepped up their game and can be counted on during the regular season. A summer camp or scrimmage outcome means very little to most strong programs....except in the terms of their own talent evaluation. Wins are fine, but development is the goal. Placing importance on summer victories usually belongs to struggling programs looking for confidence builders. State champions may be built in July, but they are rewarded in March......when the score really counts!
  17. Calling all Middle Tennessee high school basketball fans..... I know where we should be tomorrow night: the Franklin 40 straight Rebels versus the Real Deal Raptors of Ravenwood. Something has to give. Which will it be: the STREAK or the HIGH HOPES? This should be fun!
  18. Does Ravenwood really have a chance to stop the streak on Friday night? I am trying to decide which MidTn game to attend. I know Ravenwood is 6-1, but I haven't had a chance to see them in action. Do they have the ability to hang with Franklin. This streak thing for Franklin is crazy.....might be the story of the year......at least until playoff time. Franklin Coach Jay Johnson has a new name this season: Coach Jay Wooden, ha. I think Coach Harrick might appreciate that.
  19. Discussion around the water cooler today at work: How many consecutive district games has Franklin won? We think it is approaching 40. Can someone confirm when they suffered their last district loss?
  20. 1. Frankin How many district games have they won in a row? I know its some crazy number. 2. Centennial Will they be the team to stop the Franklin streak? Mark January 18 on your calendar! 3. Overton Much improved squad that hung tough with Antioch. Can they challenge for a Top 2 spot? 4. Hillsboro Should improve, but as of now, they don't appear to be capable of cracking the Top 3. 5. Brentwood 6. Ravenwood 7. Independance 8. Hillwood
  21. I agree. Philly, you need to lighten up on MetroB, ha. You have to admit, his Philadelphia references are somewhat amusing. Maybe your Rebels can pull out a big win on the road tomorrow night and MetroB will go into hiding for awhile. Can't wait for the post-game banter, ha.
  22. Great regional matchup tomorrow night: Franklin at McGavock I predict McGavock (at home) by 10 points over Franklin. What is the top MidTN area matchup for Friday night?
  23. Prediction: McGavock (at home) by 10 over Franklin. Should be THE GAME to attend if you are an area high school fan. What is the top area matchup for Friday night?
  24. Single A: Culleoka Double A: CPA Triple A: Antioch
