  1. After looking at Eurosport I have to agree that those rankings are pretty accurate. I feel like we are a top 5 team but hey...top 10 still looks good. I guess coachT is more easily accessible is why I tend to look at it more but realistically computer rankings are never accurate. Trust me, we know that we need to win region to avoid Greeneville.....we do NOT want to make that trip again this year for substate as they are even better than last year. They are a machine. I just hate it that they are even in class A/AA with 950 enrollment and we have a mere 316 but......it is what it is. Thanks for voting for us. If this is coach G, former CAK coach now at CPA, I met you a few years ago as you came to speak at our soccer banquet. Good to hear from you again.
  2. That's correct, the CoachT rankings which are computer based. Unfortunately TSSAA high school soccer does't have AP and Sportswriter rankings like the primary 4 sports in high school. True, they are not perfect but I feel the only one that is somewhat close since they are based on schedule strength and success. Yes, we are going D2 next year and I agree as the district will not be a nightmare trying to schedule with 12 teams anymore. Concord Christian first round then the winner of GP - Carter in second.
  3. I respect your comments and agree with some of it. As far as beefing up the schedule we are so limited because of having 12 teams in the district. Non-districts games were, Oak Ridge (ranked), Knoxville Webb (ranked), Alcoa (ranked), Seymour, Scott Co, Oliver Springs. Pre-season schedule was, Stone Memorial, Jefferson County, and Rhea County Play Day. These teams below are teams that we contacted or contacted us for pre-season or season play but could not fit in schedule. Hardin Valley, Bearden, Sequoyah, Walker Valley, Boyd Buchanan, Silverdale. We tried to fit in schedule but could not agree on date due to conflicts with other games. Obviously HV and Bearden are elite class AAA teams and we would have loved to fit 1 of them in. Don't know anything about the other 4. I agree, we will not win no matter how hard we try to justify our scores. That's the nature of the beast I just hardly never here it with football scores like 70-0 this weekend across the state three times. But.....yes it is entertaining for the readers and bloggers.....lol. Thanks for the good luck wishes.
  4. You're the one that said...." running up the score on teams so that a kid can get the state record." , I was simply telling you that is the most ridiculous statement thus far. I would like to ask you a few questions about your opinion with simple yes-no answers. 1. Is it unsporty to play down to 8 players in the last 15-20 minutes? 2. Is it unsporty to place multiple restrictions on bench players....and they still score? 3. Our star player had scored 6 goals in just 1 game and as low as 1 goal in a couple games, she is averaging 3.8 goals per game. Numerous games she only scored 3 or 4. Is it unsporty to let her score 3.8 goals per game? 4. Is it unsporty to just pass the ball all over the field from GK to backs, from backs to mids, from mids to forwards, from forwards back to outside mids, from outside mids back to right /left backs, from backs back to GK......and all the other team does is CHASE THE BALL? We did that a few times and I'll tell you that the other teams did not like that.....period. So, is that unsporty? If so , we are in a lose lose situation apparently. 5. Is it unsporty to allow a player to score 3.8 goals per game regardless of competition.........mainly in 1st half and pulling her out the 2nd.....and giving her a chance to break a 20 year old scoring title? I do apologize if you feel there were personal attacks. You know, these threads can sometimes do that to people....lol. We obviously just disagree and that is ok. But I would like for you to answer those above. Thanks
  5. Goofy stuff....lol, sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. I do not understand what U do not understand. 1. Out of 16 games thus far, she has only played 3 games the entire 80 minutes. Nine of the games she was done by halftime, the other four she played just under 60 minutes. 2. Her average is 3.8 goals per game. If she just played 60 minutes of every game this season she would have already crushed the TSSAA state record. Do you comprehend that?....do I need to spell it out for you? 3. Your words state above...."we're running up the score on teams so that a kid can get the state record." That is the most ridiculous statement thus far. 4. We have a freshman and a sophomore that has already combined for 40+ goals.....are they in the wrong too? Her 3.8 goals per game is not always going to win the game....it takes the teams average (without her) of 6.4 goals per game to complete the game and get the W. 5. You say I say goofy stuff.....well, I am only relaying team stats and how they play. As a fan, we back our coach to the fullest extent. 6. So, why don't you come to watch us play next week in district tournament. You may see in the early rounds how we've played MANY games this season. Let me refresh your memory on that. On numerous games we've finished the game with 8-10 players on the field. Did you hear that, the coach begins pulling players and sometimes down to 8. The coach places restrictions on all those type games as early as the first half. So you ask, what are the restrictions Ram Fan? Well, I'm glad you asked A. At least 5 different players MUST touch the ball before attacking, which includes our backs. B. Once on the attack, they can only score on crosses and headers if they have that opportunity before the 5 players touching ball. Must score outside the 18. If they go inside the 18 without the 5 different players touching ball it will be turned back out. C. May score on set pieces. Do i need to explain to you what that is? D. In case you don't know, a corner is a set piece as well. On corners, must head the ball in. E. Oh, guess what. Most of these restrictions are placed early and last the entire 2nd half WITH THE BENCH PLAYERS IN!!! Some that have not ever played the game of soccer too. So, if you think that with all these restrictions in, with the bench players in, and the other team still cannot stop us with bench in and inexperienced players, Do u think we are not going to take a shot at goal?.....you my fiend, you are in denial and YOU HAVE NO CLUE!!! "Playerscoach" I think you may need to go coach AYSO or Upward. Let me answer your question as you started this thread.....NO, I will not leave this thread as long as there are no clue bloggers....(I'm being nice)....that simply.....HAVE NO CLUE about our team and have no clue about this great game of soccer. Have a good day!
  6. I can't deny any of what you said and I totally agree. We were pretty limited on our non District schedule having 12 teams in our district but we still played Knoxville Webb, Oak Ridge, and Alcoa and did really well against all three which includes beating Webb for the first time and Alcoa for the first time. Lost to Oak Ridge in a heartbreaker 3-2. We played Greeneville last year in the substate......lost 5-1....and they are better this year, simply stated, they are a machine. We've lost our starting GK last week....out for season.....due to fractured fibula but I feel that even with that loss, if we stay healthy we may be able to knock off the big two in region play which is CAK and Catholic. We will be in D2 next year and losing a talented goal scorer to graduation so hopefully these threads will calm down next season. We are very proud of their accomplishments this season and not bad coming from a small school of 316 enrollment. Once again, I respect your comments and agree as well.
  7. Yes sir, five division 1 colleges were recruiting her and she committed to the University of Arkansas.
  8. The previous two years the district was split with 5 teams in West and 6 teams in East but this year the district was combined again and Concord Christian joined which made 12 teams. Grace and Rockwood are very strong and Greenback is pretty good too......then it drops. She has averaged 3.8 goals per game, mainly first half, in 16 games and the rest of the team has averaged 6.4 goals per game in the past 16. District 2 is in the same situation as Greenville is a beast up there and are dominating everyone. As a Ram soccer fan and supporter, we can agree to disagree. By the way, she sometimes has to be reminded to quit being so unselfish and start attacking the goal more. She has already amassed approximately 70 assists in her career as well. She is already being punished in 80% of the district games because she only gets to play approximately half of game which isn't fair to her as well but she understands and plays her role very well. If she continues her 3.8 goals per game she will probably break the state record but she is also just fine even if she doesn't because making it to Murfreesboro is the only thing on her mind as well as the other 19 players. I appreciate your honesty and your opinion but it doesn't mean it's right.
  9. Im Through with talking to you as you obviously have no clue and don't know anything about our situation nor do u have the facts or stats. Congrats to you and your coach. You said six goals in multiple games, she scored six goals one time this year and it was our last regular-season game. She has a great opportunity to reach a milestone and possibly break a state record and if it takes 3.8 goals per game to do it, then she will do it. If your coach thinks 3.8 goals per game is too much, well, I guess he's entitled to his own opinion and coaching style but shame on him for not letting his 100 goal scorer to have that opportunity. Have a good day.
  10. Good question. Yes, 90% of her goals are in the first half, she doesn't play too often in the 2nd half because if she did she would have already crushed the state scoring title. We have played 16 games. The Lady Rams have scored 163 goals thus far, the star player has scored 61 of those predominantly in the first half. The rest of the team has scored 102 goals which equals 6.4 goals per game. The star player has 61 goals which averages 3.8 per game. As I've said in previous posts.....the district is extremely weak, other than Rockwood. You say that each year there are multiple teams that have "that player" that could go 4-6 goals per game but choose not to allow them to do so and most usually shut it down to 2-3 goals per game.......well, our star is right in the middle with 3.8 goals per game. I honestly and truthfully do not see a problem with a star player that averages 3.8 per game. Yes, her coach asked if her if she would like to entertain the fact that she could possible break the state record....she said yes and so she has been given that opportunity which I feel is a great opportunity. I know Laura personally (the current state record holder), she told my wife just one week ago that records are made to be broken and she wishes our player the best and hope she is able to do it. So, maybe the answer is the scoring title.
  11. This is so ridiculous. I can't tell you how many games we've finished with eight or nine players on the field, while placing restrictions on our girls before they are allowed to score another goal. We have girls that this is their first year ever playing as well as 8th grader and they are still scoring even after the coaches restrictions. Not one single coach has said anything about our play this season. Let me add just one more thing, after the Harriman game Tuesday night there were two Harriman parents that came up to the coaches and said, " I just want to let you know that your team is the classiest group of girls that we have played all season. I realize the score was lopsided but we also noticed how you finish the game with 9 players and moved the ball all over the field without trying to score right off, and we noticed that you had very young and new players in as well and they deserve a chance to score, we really appreciate that and applaud your school." So, this came from a mom and dad of a Harriman player after the game that was praising the players and coaches for the way they represented themselves on the field. You say we have a black eye but none of the opposing teams nor coaches has said one thing. It's the, not in the know, bloggers that's giving the black eye . I think it's time to maybe start complaining about the 56 - 0 football scores and lay off of soccer and I think it's time to go to another topic and let this one rest because if you don't know all the facts, you should not be jumping on the bandwagon.
  12. I'm not sure where you're getting your story from but we are going to division 2. Never once was our goal to stay D1. You'll see the news within a few days
  13. If LC played them earlier in the season the results would be different. They have lost 7 players since the season began, they are depleted with injuries including their last one last week vs Karns in which they lost their best defender to a knee injury. And when I say best defender, I'm saying one of the best / fastest in the state......she's amazing.
  14. Knoxville Webb miraculously dropped enrollment to 449. Who would've thought that? I would have bet $1000 that they would tweak the numbers.....and I would have been right.
  15. Ha Ha. It was a straight 40 minute one half (Play Day) game and we won 3-0.
  16. Well, we will still probably come to you guys next year anyway but Alcoa is actually catching up in the series. We came there in 2009 and 2012.....haven't played since then. 2009 was our first year for girls soccer at GCA. We lost both meetings at Alcoa. With our crazy district it's been hard trying to get another game with Alcoa.......and it's nothing on you guys.....it's been our side.
  17. We (Grace Christian-Knoxville) played Polk in a pre-season Play Day at Rhea County HS. They are a pretty good team
  18. Yes, you're right, sorry about the spelling. You are absolutely right there is not anything wrong with Upward soccer....or Upward sports at all and it is a great youth program for development. I was just using it as an example because any Upward sport I've ever been involved with does not keep score. Maybe I should have used the word.....AYSO. That's all I was saying because we were getting blasted because of some of our scores. I was just frustrated....it happens a lot when I'm reading these blogs....lol.
  19. Thanks and I hope scheduling isn't a nightmare next year, depends on how many district teams we have....I would say we won't have 12 like district 3-A/AA is now. I believe Rockwood will probably be the only team currently in our district that would stay play us starting next year. We will still like to keep the class AAA teams like Oak Ridge, Seymour, Jeff Co and Stone on the schedule.....Maybe a Hardin Valley or a Bearden.....but not both in the same season, they are way above our league as our schedule next year will be tough enough with more travel.
  20. Ok, here we go again. You don't know all the facts. Strap your ears on. Our non district games are.....Oliver Springs, Scott County (never played before) Seymour (AAA), Oak Ridge (AAA), Webb (D2 powerhouse), Stem Academy/Home School, and Alcoa (currently 9-1). Ok, why are we playing Oliver Springs and Stem? Well, that's a good question 17soccerfan. District opponent Tellico Plains coach called us 5 days before our game and said he is going to cancel our game due to not enough players, after making several phone calls to many teams, Oliver Springs coach told us he had 1 game left to fill his schedule and that date was available. So, that benefited both of us. #2. District opponent Pigeon Forge coach called us and said, we've overbooked our schedule so we must cancel....and it was even a home game for them. We understood his situation and agreed. Both teams agreed that they receive a forfeit loss which basically only applies to district tournament seeding. We thought that was just a varsity game that we would have to lose but we received a call one week before that scheduled game from the newly Advantage Home School/Stem Academy manager and asked if we had availability.....we told them yes and the date available, and so that game was scheduled. We know nothing about them other than the fact the Stem Academy, which does not offer soccer, has a a lot of club players that attend there. Now....about your other question. We've played CAK the last 3 years and this year we decided to skip. We will not play Catholic unless we have to...in which we've played them the last 3 years in region play. If you want a reason why you can private message me. As I've stated in previous replies, we can only play 16 games, and 11 of them are district originally so that limits us in non district. We can't even play a tournament because that counts as 2 games. We are limited. Ok, you ready, we called coach Radcliff at Bearden back in January, could not get a game scheduled or scrimmage due to either full schedule or conflicting dates. We called coach Bradford at Hardin Valley.....ditto, same results. We called South of here as far as Chattanooga Christian School, Silverdale, Boyd Buchanan, Bradley Central, Walker Valley, McMinn County High. None of those panned out. Some of those calls were either for scrimmages and/or regular season games. Who we did get for pre-season was, Stone Memorial (AAA), Jefferson County (AAA), and the Rhea County Play Day which was a good Play Day. So, since we could not pick up any of those, we had 2 slots left and we picked up Scott and Alcoa. Alcoa will be a good game. I will have to say that I agree with you some as it is a bad trend but, should our girls be penalized for having to play in a weak district? Even after we put limits on how we can score in the 2nd half after only on headers, crosses, corners, after 5 passes and beyond the 18.....are we still in the wrong? I personally don't think so and I believe the majority will agree with me. Passing the ball all over the field while the other team plays chase is not very sporty in my opinion so therefore we refuse to do that anymore......I know when that would happen to us in the past it really bothered us and our team. So, we can agree to disagree but I promise you that we have facts and valid reasons as to how we play and who we play. Tonight we travel to Rockwood for the battle of the district lead, it will/should be a test for both teams. Next year we will be division 2 so that should make many people happy to see GCA, and CAK move over. Not sure what Catholic is doing yet. I hope this resolves all and answers all your questions. God Bless!
