You want to talk about a split so here we go: 1. Tennessee will not have a split before we know the final outcome of the BA vs TSSAA legal ramifications. BA has won in the past and IMO they will win the TSSAA's final appeal. 2. Some people feel that the TSSAA will have to file chapter 11 or 13 if BA forces the TSSAA to pay the legal fees. IMO BA will let the TSSAA off the hook on "SOME" of the legal fees but they will require the TSSAA to do other things and placing everyone back together in one division is something that will be forced. 3. If the public schools decided to leave the TSSAA or the TSSAA did file chapter 11 or 13 who would run the public school association? Would it be the Tennessee State Legislature? 4. Do you really feel that the State Legislature would keep the private schools from being in their association? Not only would they open the discrimination can of worms but the so called "rich private school parents" vote and contribute big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to politicans and as easy as that check is mailed to one politicans campaign fund it could also be routed to another politicans war chest. Yes the politicans may live in our small towns but their money comes from corporations and special interest groups that have students in private schools. Politicans live and die with the big money!!!!!!! Let's all remember that the grass is not necessarly greener on the other side of the fence. We may have it better now than we would in the future.

Indian, So what is the problem? The private schools in D1 offer NO FINANCIAL AID for their student athletes so what is the advantage? 1. Are private school kids smarter than public school kids? 2. Are private school coaches better? 3. Are private school athletes better? 4. Do the private school athletes work harder on the athletic field? What point are you trying to make? As a former public school athlete I competed agains kids from McCallie, Baylor, Christian Brother, Father Ryan, etc... and could care less where they were from. I was going to out work them during the off season to make sure I didn't loose to anyone if possible. For the most part high school athletic competitions are won by the athletes that are in superior condition and have the most confidence but have average athletic skills.

They lost 6-5 to Lexington, KY Catholic High School in the USA Classic. They are clearly the best team in Tennessee at this time (remember that anything can happen) and that is why they have the national ranking in both USA Today & Baseball America.

Let's just do away with public school sports!

Some parents don't really have a choice. If you live in one of the rual counties you could have to drive 50+ miles to attend a private school unless you wanted your child to attend a boarding school. Now if you live around one of the major cities that is another story. -
Why will someone not try to answer this question? Some of you gentlemen are former metro teachers so you should have some type of opinion. Is this a case of metro closing ranks to protect people in the head office down on Bransford?
-
No one answered my earlier question. If Hillwood has an assistant principal that played 10 years in the NFL, why would you not allow that man to hire your football coach?
-
I am not on anyones bandwagon and never have been. FYI, I was born in Wayne County and live in South Florida now but I still own a small farm in Lutts.

AAA District 12 John Overton vs Ravenwood (Elimination Game) Franklin vs winner of John Overton & Ravenwood

JMO, but it is my understanding that most Metro Principals have their PHd (Pile it higher and deeper) or are working to get theirs. I would guess that most of these people never participated in athletics while in high school or college and they have never coached a sport. If they are not comfortable with sports or understand athletics they are not going to place any emphasis on them. The reason that county schools have better athletic programs than Metro schools is because the principal knows that they will come under fire and loose their job if they don't support athletics. When was the last time a metro principal attend a minor sport athletic event? I have been told that most don't attend the football or basketball games.

I understand that it will be Byrnes JV or Freshmen team. I am not sure that their varsity will be @ Vanderbilt.

Why is the sub-state a one game series with the winner advancing to the state tournament when everything else is double elimination? The sub-state should be the following: Game 1 & 2 will be played at the Regional Champions facility on Monday & Tuesday Game 3 if necessary will be played at the Regional runner-ups facility On Wednesday This type of series forces teams to have a pitching staff and also allows a team to have an "off" game and still advance.

Does Hillwood not have an assistant principal that played about 10 years in the NFL? If that is true why would he not be the one to hire a football coach.
-
JMO, but UTC had better make a good decision this time around and keep any politics out of the selection process. This is not the type of publicity that a program in the South needs. Further problems with the wrestling program at UTC could result in the program being discontinued in the name of Title 9.

I am not trying to start anything but what is the deal with a small school pitcher? If the guy is good who cares what size school he goes to?

How many combined championships in male sports? Please answer the queston!

Shadow, You are correct to a point but a few other things need to take place. 1. The teachers union has to go and Nashville's own Bob Ballow (international union buster) could handle that. When it takes an act of congress to terminate someone because they have been on the job for X number of years you have a problem. Teachers are educated people and they should be able to workout their own (personal) contract. 2. The principal needs to be given a budget and allowed to run his/her school. They hire & fire everyone from the custodians & kitchen help to the head of the math/science department the same as any CEO would. 3. Go back to neighborhood schools that have around 1000 students in grades 9-12. This would cost more and require the school system to build some new schools but it would be worth the money and we would see the results after just a few short years. Have you seen how some of the Metro School buildings look now? They look like a war zone with bars on windows, rooms that have not been painted in 20 years, etc... When you have to place metro police officers in schools to keep order you have a serious problem!!!!!!!!

Like "Big Al Davis" says "JUST WIN BABY" You get respect when you win championships!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why your girls basketball programs have the respect of everyone in Tennessee. If you guys are so tough why don't you try adding a wrestling team? Then you will see if you are real men or just pretenders.
-
"Fights every day" What kind of animals are you guys? If you were that tough you should have won several state championships. How many state championships has Clifton, Waynesboro & Collinwood combined to win in male sports in the past 50 years? I will give you credit that your females are tough but the males seem to be a little soft.
-
Look on page 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's answer the real question: Who are the best players in Tennessee, not the best players in A,AA,AAA & D2? Your selecton should be supported by facts and where the player will play in college.
-
Which coaches won state championships: Wes Elrod (Mapelwood) ? Tommy Owen (Montgomery Bell Academy) ? Boots Donnley (Father Ryan, Vanderbilt, Austin Peay, MTSU) Did Litton win a state championship?
-
Let's take a close look at the teams: Joelton, Goodletsville, Madison, DuPont, Litton, Mapelwood, Stratford, East, Donelson, Two Rivers, McGavock, Hume Fogg, Pearl, Central, West, Hillwood, Bellevue, Overton, Antioch, Glencliff, Father Ryan, Montgomery Bell Academy, Hillsboro, David Lipscomb, North, Cumberland, Cohn, TPS, TSB Those were some really good community schools with good coaching. Most of the people that were good athletes at those school moved to one of the surrounding counties and the education seen started to change in Davidson County.
-
Who was the best coach ever in the old NIL? IMO the league should still be around.
-
They are going to combine all of the schools in Wayne County (Clifton, Waynesboro, and Collinwood) and have one high school that plays 3A or 4A.
-
Who are the 8 best position players and 5 best pitchers regardless of classification? I am hearing several names but for some reason those same players are not on the "high profile" Summer League teams and those same players have not signed with an SEC or ACC school.
-
Stop being an idiot!!!!!!!!!!! You may not like Tate or where he goes to school but the fact remains he is the best player in the 2007 class in Tennessee and will be one of the top players in the United States.
