  1. Purple and Gold? I got to Tennessee not Lipscomb /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  2. Here's to hoping that region 4 is back in the final again! If history holds up it will be Gville, but I will take any of them in there. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. Yeah yeah yeah... Any fashion designer will tell yah that orange and white don't go together, they are both to bright. and besides, even if it gives you a headache at least I know I got your attention /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I will agree that you will never seen dynasties like Maryville, or Alcoa in 1A without some foul play involved. But my entire argument against your theory is just to name two schools. Trousdale County, and South Pitt. Since the 1970's Trousdale County has been in ever division that there is and competed in every one. South Pitt is the same story. As far as both teams go they are not going to be state champions every year, nor will they even play for a state title every year. But these are the programs that year after year are always going to be in the top ten in state. No matter how many kids are in the school or how low the talent level is these programs will pump out teams that will compete for region title's and be in the state title picture. The one thing that makes these things work? Coaching. The Satterfield coaching dynasty is legendary in Tennessee, both the stadium and field are named after the family, South Pitt's coaching family is so storied, that when one of the past coaches died the family asked that the body could be driven by the field one last time and was eventually burried within sight of the field. In a word what is the one thing that makes it so that a team can always contend for a state title "Coaching". Now that has nothing to do with any dynasty's. And to be honest as much I like yah Cascade11 I just don't really want to argue about it. We all have our oppinions and they are all based on different things. I haven't been able to see these teams play so I am forced to base them on their non-region performance, since alot of their non-region performance is in the playoffs thats where I look. We all have our oppininons on people and teams, thats the beauty of sports. It was nice talking to you about dynastyies and programs and such, I wish you and all of region 5 the best of luck in the playoffs this year.
  4. Cascade might be stronger than FCS this year, doesn't really bother me. I would take the region 4 champ over the region 5 champ any day of the week. And wheather it is a region 4 team or South Pitt I would take the east braket over the west braket. The only thing that worries me about ya'll braket is how bad McKenzie beat Bruceton or how bad TCA is beating everyone. The only thing that worries me from region 5 & 6 is that I might not ever get to see Marco Dailey play. You say the only teams that have a shot at the burro from the east braket is South Pitt, Gordonsville and Hampton. I can do the same thing to the west and say the only teams with a shot are McKenzie, TCA, Cascade and mabey Mt. Pleasant. This all doesn't really matter... I know that sitting at MTSU in december I will either be screaming "Go region 4" or "Go South Pitt". The only question is who they will be playing, and my money is on the McKenzie vs. TCA winner.
  5. Well they are the favorite, but the way it has worked out all season it could be Gordonsville, Friendship, or Trousdale. All of them have been there before and they would all like a trip back... I am getting a wee bit ahead of myself though, they still gotta get past South Pitt and the winner of Midway/Hampton. Of course ya'll don't have an easy path on the other side of the braket having to get past Mt. Pleasant and then the McKenzie/TCA winner. Man I love playoff time, Greatest thing that the TSSAA ever did. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  6. It's been gone through a thousand times... If Watertown wins, Gordonsville will be first, Watertown, Friendship, and Trousdale will all be in a 3 way tie for second. Now watch this. ~Friendship has beaten both Watertown and Trousdale so they are second ~watertown has beaten Trousdale so they are third ~Trousdale is 4th
  7. Mabey thats where you get it wrong, Great teams, and good programs with good coaches do carry over from year to year, they do "reload". Heck, region 5 has a great example in Jo Byrns. This year they aren't as good as the past few but they are still feared as much because of the name Jo Byrns. Dynasty's have nothing to do with players, it is the image that a team has and the caoch that a team has. But you know what? thats fine, if you don't want to use playoffs from past years then thats is a perfectly reasonable request. The problem is that until two of the top teams from these regions meet we will have no real idea. I got a deal for yah, region 4 will take our best team, and send them to the burro around December ok? Meet us there and we will settle it on the fake field /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  8. Well I would agree that Indicators aren't great, and just another indicator for you is that White House Heritage played FCS in a scrimmage and I believe it was 3-2 for WHH. Just another Comparison The only reason I have my doubts about region 5 is playoffs. Region 4 has won 3 of 4 the past two years, Region 5 has lost 3 of 4. Region 4 has been in the burro two years in a row, Region 5 has not. And the argument can be made that region 4 has an easier trip to the burro. Consider this, two years ago a region 5 team played Union City at Jo Byrns and got beat, the same Union City team was drilled by a region 4 team. Last year a region 5 team lost a close battle to mt. Pleasant, who then got drilled by JCS, the same JCS team that beat a region 4 team by only 6 points. I have nothing against your comparisons, in fact I had hoped that FCS would have beaten East Roberson by more but who knows. All I am saying is that there are alot of Comparisons that say region 5 is better than region 4, but there is a few playoff comparisons that say region 4 is better. Not trying to stir the pot just offering some fruit for thought /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  9. Now thats what we really need. A Region 4-1A concession contest! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Everybody talks about how their food is the best, why don't we just match all these fine cooks up before the season starts and have a big ole contest. Of course, the coachT poster's from region 4 get to be the judges /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
  10. Well I am glad to hear that there is some speed over at Midway, Sounds like you got a few good skat backs which is always a nice addition to a team. I would be suprised if Midway beat Hampton, Hampton has owned both region 1 & 2 for two years straight. As far as midway or Hampton winning in the semi's... well thats gonna be really tough to do.
  11. Well the next two weekends in a row I will be in knoxville because of the Arkansas and Vandy games, so I am going to skip UT's homecoming this weekend. I will be in town but don't know yet if i really feel like attending FCS vs. MJCA. not exactly supposed to be a close game to watch yah know? if it turns out that Trousdale is headed to South Pitt I have a sneaking feeling that next friday I will be driving alot to get down to beane stadium by kickoff...
  12. Go ahead, re-arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. For the record, I didn't predict it to be that close, I said Watertown by 14. I did however say that it had the potential to be a close game if Watertown showed up flat. As far as the Monterey vs. FCS game it was a Stanford vs. USC of sorts.... the favorite showed up flat and the underdog played with everything they had. Thats what makes football so great.
  14. I really hope the playbook has been open for a while by now... At this point in the season you shouldn't be putting in a whole lot of new things or trying new things. Should have already tried things and had things put in. This should be a game to rest the starters up for next week. Don't see a whole lot of positive work to be had if they (copper basin) are as bad as I think.
  15. I am firm believe that Speed kills. I would take 11 small and speedy guys over 11 big powerful guys any day for a football game. Especially the way the game is being played today. Power has it's place, but in 10 years the game of football will be Totally about Speed, Speed, Speed. That being said, I keep hearing about Midway having speed, Midway is small but they are really fast, Midway is all speed this year... blah blah blah. Has anyone seen them play and can legitimate their speed? And i'm not talking about just a tailback with speed, i'm talking about as a whole speed. Because my gut feeling is that the "speed" we keep hearing that Midway has isn't the speed that I'm used to seeing on friday nights. Can anyone correct that?
  16. Seriously dude, your embarassing Hampton on here. Every other Hampton poster is respectfull and modest, basically just down-right nice people. Your not giving them a good name...
  17. Alot of people felt that it wasn't fair with the setup that was in place that only allowed 4 regions to host all four rounds of the playoffs. For example under the old format region 3 would never get to host all four rounds. The TSSAA changed that so that it is on a 4 year rotation that allows all regions a chance to host four rounds of the playoffs, but it also causes this year to be a bit skewed in that YES, the winner of region 1 & 2 will travel to the winner of region 3 & 4 for the semifinal.
  18. Midway person? me? check the s/n... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  19. Alright then, you can think whatever you would like to think about harriman playing Monterey better than FCS did. Doesn't really bother me. But unless the semi-final turns out to be Harriman vs. Monterey then I see no reason to believe that is relevant at all. I think that Hampton will make the semi's but even if it is Midway I gotta be honest and just tell yah that I don't expect them to beat whoever they play from region 3 or 4. Regions 1 & 2 aren't as weak as some people think they are but so far they have done nothing to make a believer out of me. I respect the program Hampton has because they have nice posters who don't get ahead of themselves and also because it does take a good program to make the semi's so often. So I say Hampton beats Midway and anyone else east of the river and then journeys between the river for the semi-final against South Pitt or region 4.
  20. I think that Silverdale wins this one... and their prize you may ask? A trip to Gordonsville, Yah /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> I haven't kept up with Silverdale but what happened? Many expected them to be a darkhorse to take the region crown and while i realize that this year has been groundbreaking by Silverdale standards it hasn't nearly been the expected. Many expected them to challenge South Pitt for the region title and some region 3 fans even said that if Silverdale got second then region 3 might go 2-2 against region 4.... Did the big guys who sat out last year just not pan out? what happened...
  21. Better question ... Is this the last game ever for Temple's program?
  22. Well last time MJCA played FCS the score was 50+ to 6 or so... Last time RBS played TC the score was probably 70+ to mabey 7 Gordonsville and Celina might be close this year, but unless Gordonsville doesn't show up it should be Gville by 28. Monterey and Watertown went to overtime last year with a spot in the playoffs on the line, I would expect that once again this will be the closest game of region 4 this week.
  23. Either scenario gives us a good shot at sweeping. Either way it will be Trousdale @ South Pitt first round which is pretty rough. I just like the Scenario if Watertown wins. South Pitt would have Trousdale first round, Friendship Second round, and Gordonsville third round... I think that South Pitt is a good team and if they survived that stretch then they need to go ahead and buy some orange and black rings.
  24. Well the two teams are both heavy on the Defense and not so much on the Offense. But I would still expect this to be a higher score than 7-8. I think this game comes down to Watertown. If Watertown can shake off last weeks disapointing loss and pick themselves up for this weeks game then they will be booking their bus-ride to Lookout Valley. If Watertown is still lookin in the rearview mirror, or for some reason they semi-overlook Monterey like they did last year, then this will be a battle that Watertown is fully capable of losing. Personally, Watertown did a great job of recovering after the disappointing loss to FCS earlier in the year so I think they do just as good this time. Waterwings by 14.
