  1. Congratulations Harriman, Double overtime win! Double win in one season over Wartburg! Great game!
  2. Thanks for the lesson in history, Those of us that were born in the South know the history of the General whose love of fire dictated his plan of attack. Sherman burned Atlanta, Shannon burned Grace, In case you haven't noticed Atlanta is doing fine and so will Grace Christian Academy. As far as embarrassed, the game was tied with two minutes left in the game. Nothing to be embarrased about on our end of the court. Overachieved! Now let me return the favor and educate you a bit about overachievement. A team overachieves in a game, not a season! I would guess that is why we have playoffs so a team like Wartburg who is 1 and 1 against Harriman this season can not only play for a Regional Championship but have a chance to show some of their fans real need for bragging rights in one sport.
  3. Grace beat Union County at Union County on their court the week before they beat Pigeon Forge! Grace defeated CAK, and many of the same teams Cosby plays year after year. I went over and watched Cosby play KCS at KCS. Is that the "Church League" you were speaking of. Last years Cosby team was as good a high school team as I have ever watched play. Cosby has a name for having really good basketball teams year after year, Grace has a total of three years to draw from, I'm pretty proud of what Grace and Cosby both have been able to do with their programs. Evidently Cosby must have started with a sound foundation to build on, thats what the coaching staff at Grace is trying to do.
  4. Your team knowledge is evident and I would have agreed before I saw the zebra show in Harriman gym Tuesday night. If you can get a copy of the Wartburg vs Grace Christian video you will see why one of your picked teams will not be in the boro. Something needs to be done about refs that take away the feeling of playing to Win or Loose and leave "Stolen" on the minds of anyone who would view the video and did not have a "Dog" in the fight. Don't let those three zebras stink up your gym!!!!! Does Wartburg have the players to win, no doubt? Did the zebras graze in Wartburg's pasture Tuesday night, You better beleive they did and the final score was Zebras 1 , Tennessee High School Basketball 0! Would the outcome have been different with three fair refs, who knows? Grace Christian won't know this year and if someone with power of removal doesn't do something about those three refs before their next game called....... You can probably add another team to the list!!! I can take it when a team is out played or out coached but "Called Out" that's hard to take!
  5. It was easy to see what was up from the start of the game! I've heard of a dog and pony show but this was a bulldog and zebra show. I'll give credit to the Wartburg players for being a greatly tallented group of young men who could play with any high school but the zebra factor changed this game. Could Wartburg have won without the zebras? Absolutely, unfortunately they did not need too. Did Shannon play big? Absolutely, the entire Wartburg team played large but the zebras left a bad smell in the Harriman gym that should have not been there. If I am a coach playing Wartburg and see those zebras unload out of the truck, I know my season just ended. What is the shame is that nothing will be done to herd zebras like those up and out. Then Wartburg will find three zebras running the floor who are grazing in another coaches pasture and find their ability and talent won't help them win either. In the Regional game on video Tuesday night, the score was Zebras 1 Tennessee High School Basketball 0!
  6. Wow!!!! Great distribution of scoring! A sign of a well coached and talented team! The stats always provide enough information for those who want to know, to find out! Thanks for putting the players names out so those of us who don't know the team may be able to congratulate each of them and be proud of what they have done as players and as a team. Thanks!!
  7. Great Game by the Cosby Team but for the Senior that had over 30 points....... On Senior night............ How could it be much better than that for him. When a team has a game like Cosby did tonight, a coach can only hope it is at home for their home town fans to see. I listened to the 4th quarter on the internet and I am so impressed with the play by play guy for the Cosby station. He is a class act! If anyone on this site knows him, please let him know what a great job he did and that everyone from both teams should be proud of his broadcast. From a true Grace Fan to The Cosby Team, Coaches and Faithfull, Congratulations!
  8. So there isn't anybody in the district Grace is in that they have played? Well if you say so! I know Cosby, Harriman, Rockwood and the likes will be happy to know where their teams stand according to this groups opinion. By the way CAK was also beaten by Grace this year........... But Union County is the only team that Grace has played worth anything? At some point in time a fan of our youth has to show up here that gives credit to the young men and women that are playing in these games, working hard to improve, giving their best efforts for their school and team. Just maybe that person will give credit to those young men that are Grace Christian Academy Basketball and have won all but one of their games this year. Not Played Anybody! What a shame that all those young men on all those other teams that have worked just as long and hard as any of the rest of the teams would be belittled and degraded by such as us! Credit!!!!! Sometimes I think we are all Bankrupt when it comes to our ability to give credit where due! By the way....... Harriman's record sure doesn't match their tallent, I'd put that group of young men talent for talent, speed for speed up against any team in 1A on a given night.
  9. Exactly Right! There are plenty of options a Coach or AD would have if they did not want to promote their athletes hard work themselves. As a former player I love to look over the stats and thereby get a feel for who the complete players are out there. Those players that are not only leading the scoring stats but have assists, rebounds and blocked shots listed. You know as well as I do that recruiters use every resource and form of information on a student athlete they can get their hands on. No better place to start than the local news paper. By the way I did appreciate your reply about my last two lines........ Good stuff from a Great team supporter!
  10. I agree Middle Tennessee programs do a great job and have been for the last 30 plus years I have kept up with Tennessee High School Sports. What is even more concerning for many of us that appreciate the opportunity "High School Athletics" offers the student athlete in the form of schlorships, is when newspapers like The Knoxville News Sentinel have their weekly Prep-Extra section that shows the individual player stats for the season and the schools coaches don't send that information in. It is always the same teams that do and the same teams that don't. I am glad that the News Sentinel lists at the bottom of the page the names of the schools not providing information. I don't care who the coach is or where the program is located, that coach and that program do not care very much for the student athlete or their future when they don't take advantage of the media sources available to get those kids names out there to be noticed. I know...... Not quite on topic but thanks for allowing for ventilation.
  11. 1A Basketball Teams and Supporters don't worry about this years brackets......... I am sure those in leadership roles at the TSSAA will not want the many 1A Basketball teams and fans to waste their time and travel expense going to Murfeesboro, When they can just award Union City the title. As a matter of fact, just to save time and money why don't we just suggest that the TSSAA go ahead and give them next years title also and let all those sub-standard 1A Teams located across Tennessee take a year off to rest and reflect on the greatness of Western Tennessee's Union City Teams. Maybe we could have the TSSAA to begin having a yearly "State of the UNION City Basketball" speech carried by all of Tennessees radio and television stations in October so we may become informed as to the direction of basketball in America. Better yet just let Bruce Pearl know about what Union City has and he can just make one recruiting trip a year and fill all his needs. Right!!!!! What I have just written makes as much sense as those "Blind Eyed Fans" that say one team is going to win and no other has a chance. Even the Titanic did have some survivors!
  12. And I would suppose where you live Ohio State Is National Champion! Last Year Is Past, Next Year Doesn't Count Yet, and This Season Isn't Over, Pair the Teams, Play The Game, Then Get Out The Ladder And Cut Down The Net. Seems like people are real busy cutting down the players and teams that will have won the games to deserve the right to be in the State Playoffs. I myself have not made a basket or scored a point for or against any of the teams playing and I am probably not alone in that area. Jump Ball Team!!!!!!
  13. I am sure most players listed are really good players and fan favorites but you ask "What about Ryan Slusher and Cameron Pridemore"? That is the same question many college coaches are asking! When players are picked to play at the next level in 2009.......... Then we know the best sophmore players in East Tennessee were............. Yes, Ryan Slusher D1 Recruit, Yes, Cameron Pridemore Signs University letter, Yes, to many of the others listed who will be there also. My favorite is Ryan Slusher, He is as good of a player as many have seen and just a sophmore, yet when you watch him play you know he has not even began to know himself how good he really has the ability to be. When college recruiters attend a high school game it is the Ryan Slushers they are looking for. A player that hasn't developed into the player they can and will be yet, A BIG TIME D1 prospect, maybe SEC or ACC type and talented player. That was Dane Bradshaw when he came to Tennessee. That is Ryan Slusher of Grace Christian Academy now.
  14. Grace Christian Academy Defeated Union County at Union County. Pigeon Forge was undefeated 21-0 until they were beaten by guess who????? Union County. Grace Christian Academy Defeated CAK at Grace and CAK has defeated some pretty good and well established programs this year. Grace Christian Academy Defeated Greenback at Greenback, and everyone knows "Bruce Pearl" would have problems getting out of Greenback with a "W". Grace Christian Academy Players have only defeated the teams they were given the chance to play. They lost to a team "Rockwood" at "Rockwood". The same "Rockwood" team that they had defeated 4 days earlier. In that game Grace coaches had played their whole bench with 3 minutes left in the game. I must say that any coach, any player hates the thought of playing the same team two times in the same week, not good odds! Grace Christian Academy does not have a single Senior on their 2006/2007 team, so if I were still a player at a school having to compete against Grace Christian Academy in the future, like "NEXT YEAR" I would think it wise to consider the things they have accomplished in such a short time, with less experience than will be found "NEXT YEAR" at this time. Just a thought about "THE FACTS"
