  1. They wouldnt lose any money if they did it MY way. oh, yeah and my way would have Quarters on Wed and Thursday nights. Semis on Saturday, and then Finals the next Saturday. No daytime games. I want the parents and grandparents in the stands without losing part of their paycheck.
  2. and mine didnt take long to put together because it is all happening currently elsewhere. It is the system that I grew up with, so I didnt have to put any time into it at all. ( I also know my idea will never happen here, just putting it out there for folks to think about) carry on.
  3. Certainly both the regular season and Post Season. I think it would work out well, as you have shown! There are two things that I think need to be eliminated. 1) Home court advantages 2) Double or sometimes triple elimination. It makes no sense to me that a team can lose in the district, and move onto the Regionals. AND THEN, to make it worse a team can lose in the district SEMIfinal, lose again in the Regional Final, and STILL MOVE ON!!! Think of how much more drama and much more intense that District final game would be if only one team moves on. And you would forever clear up the "Did "TEAM A" lose the District or Regional Final just to get a better draw in the next round" issues. You lose that discussion completely. WIN or GO HOME. man, I would love to see that. I think it makes the whole tournament mean so much more. Every game is important. Every round becomes a sell out. No more empty seats at the early district and regional rounds. Districts at ONE Gym in the district. That location rotates every year so that each team in the district gets to host the tourney. Regionals at a Neutral Site Gym. Here it would be at TTU, or something big enough. The gym would have to be a bit bigger than normal because there will be more interest in each game with this format. Quarters, Semis, Finals at M'boro as always. Each round is single elimination. Winner take all. Loser goes home.
  4. And while we are trying to wind things down here: I was the one that asked the question that stirred things up, and my apologies for that. I was trying not to get things that stirred up, but I needed to know. And for the record, I do not have a kid on the Upperman team, never have never will, so dont be holding anything I say against that team. They are a great group of kids who play their tails off every night, win or lose. Congrats again to Polk Co. Good Luck in the Boro
  5. That, no doubt, would be fact. As I said before, Congrats to the Polk Co. Girls. And Good luck.
  6. THIS is probably the dumbest post I have ever seen on here. And that is saying a lot. congrats.
  7. yeah, I know money could be lost and that matters. The only reason I say break it down to 4 classes is to make the splits smaller and keep from having too many rounds at the district and regional level.
  8. I think the champion every year would win it under any system 99% of the time. And who cares if Michigan makes a killing on the tournament, does that make it a better tournament, more exciting, more competitive, maybe, maybe not. It appears that the system Michigan uses would make the season much longer and cut into other sports which are itching to get started. And why would a team that is 0-20 be able to have a shot at a state title, should you not have to earn a trip to the tournament. Why would a team that has already lost once in a state tournament get a second chance to play in that tournament? Cut the bottom half of the district out if you think that is best. I think the travesty of this tournament is that you have 3 teams that have lost at the district level moving on to Regionals. And then one team that has already lost in Regionals moves on to Sectionals. If you lose you should go home. And that would have been MY schools team the last 2 years. So Im not just playing into my teams hand here. If win you move on. If you lose, you go home. Simple.
  9. Should be fun, I hope SG can play their game. I don't want to be yawning through the entire thing. I have even heard some Polk people say some of their last few games have been boring. You gotta do what works for ya though. 4 corners sucks, but you are right, you have to do what works for you. Im guessing you see it one more time. Sounds like SG brings the same type of game as Upperman. Good Luck to Polk Co.
  10. Here is the way I would change it if I could: (and I cant, so this is for entertainment purposes only I guess) 1) Split into FOUR divisions instead of 3 A AA AAA AAAA 2) District Tourney- Held at a High School Gym withing the District. Site rotates each year. Every team is in. There is NO SEEDING. Brackets are drawn, may the best team win. ONLY THE DISTRICT WINNER MOVES ON. 2) Regional Tourney - Held at Regional Sites - NO HIGH SCHOOL GYMS unless they are schools from another region. In other words. NO HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. Brackets are DRAWN, once again, no seeding. ONLY THE REGIONAL WINNER MOVES ON. 3) Sectionals. Threre will be no need for sectionals. This round is the most unfair of the current set up. Teams traveling 3 hours to play in someone elses gym, in a game where everything is on the line is a freaking mockery of the system. Get rid of this, or your current system will always suck. 4) QuarterFinals Thru Finals - Held at m'Boro. No Seeding. and you cannot tell me this does not work, because the MHSAA (that is the state of michigan for those who do not know me) has been making a killing off this for many years. Sucks for the good teams to lose early and go home, but that is life.
  11. Well, I didnt ask the question because I was looking to start any trouble. But I can tell from the awkward silence in this place that my feelings on it were right. Im only going to say a couple things and then Im done with it. First off: Congrats to the girls at Polk Co. And good luck in the Boro. Second: When it gets this quiet in Baxter, there is a problem. Lastly: Congrats and good luck to Polk Co.
  12. I was not able to be there. Can someone confirm or deny the 24-2 stat for me??
  13. I may not be able to make it Saturday due to commitments at the old homestead, so the girls better go out and win this one for me!! I have to tell ya, when this run ends, whenever that is, it will be a sad time for me. These girls that are Seniors now were just lil Freshmen when I rolled into town. I have been a huge fan of all of these girls since then, and will continue to be after they move on of course. Their freshmen year they were part of one of the best girls basketball teams I have ever seen assembled. (and I have seen some good ones, as we all have) I have hounded several college coaches on behalf of a few of these players. I have made great friendships with some of those college coaches, as well as most of you parents, and with some of the good people here at coachT. trying to keep my short story long here: I have thoroughly enjoyed watching yer kid, and the rest of the kids there at uppperman. They are good kids and they play hard!! I also have a great appreciation for the way they treated my kid while she was a part of the whole mess. For the most part anyways, hahaha. See ya at the gym! GO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!
  14. Gee! What a sneaky way of making excuses. I'm sure there were a few calls or noncalls in the other direction that could be pointed to during this game. Come on Gator, leave the whineing to us LA fans. aw crap. I forgot to put THAT disclaimer in this post also. I had it in several other posts, I think that the refs played no favorites and were equal to both sides. Just sometimes the timing of calls sucks. I talked with 3 different Cannon Co fans on the way out who all said the same thing "If you had gotten that last basket we would be complaining about the refs" SO, as I said in an earlier post, it just sucks that the refs have to even be mentioned. No matter who lost this game, both sides had legitimate complaints about them. Back to Basketball. I hate talking about refs. As you say, I will leave that to you LA fans!!
  15. I just had to come in here and make sure that I made it very clear that I was not blaming referees for the Upperman loss the other night. I started thinking about it last night and thought "geez GatorBill (cause thats what I go by back home is GatorBill)....anyways I said "Geez GatorBill, you sounded like a whining little girl. And not only that, you sounded like a whining little girl who needs to make excuses for losing" Well, let's clear something up. I never need to make excuses for losing. I may sound like a whining little girl sometimes, but that is ok. As long as Im not making excuses. (that being said, the blocking call against the Roberts kid under the Cannon Co Basket and then the out of bounds play where the cannon county girls were literally laying on the dyer kid and whoever it was stacked up with her...pure crap. If the ref thinks it is bad enough to come over and give you a speaking to about it, then it is bad enough for the whistle to blow. You cant swallow the whistle just because of the lack of time on the clock. Not making a call changes the game just as much as making a call does) anyways, Had 2 shots to win it. And Didnt. Ball dont lie. Good luck to Cannon, hope you can pull this next one out. And of course....GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!
  16. I didnt get a chance to make it to the Upperman -v- York game, so I dont know what happened there, Im guessing it just comes down to "the team that scores the most points, wins" Congrats to York, and Good luck. The fellas at Upperman, dang. All I can say is that was a much better year than what people predicted at the beginning. Mitchel Simmons is a class act. And a fine basketball player. He will be sorely missed. Next year I expect to see some great things out of this team. We will miss Simmons, and there are not many that can step in and play that role, but that is what we thought when we lost EEEEEthan Christian to graduation last year. Got the McWilliams fella coming up next year, and possibly some big kids that can help out. Im looking for good things. Good luck to the rest of you this weekend.
  17. If "fair" means that they ticked off both sides equally, then yes, I completely agree. Im not trying to bash the refereeing. They didnt play favorites. They were not "out to get anybody". But they could have been better. EDIT: I could have done better also. I didnt cheer as loud as I should have, or as often. I spilled half of a bag of popcorn, within minutes of sitting down in the gym. Im actually taking the blame for this loss. I was too preoccupied with keeping one of the foster kids out of trouble. I had text messages from my wife that interrupted key parts of the game. Im sorry girls, this one is all on me. I did my very best "d-up" though. I have been practicing that one since I got into town 3 years ago. And without Mr D-Up in the stands, I knew someone else had to carry the load. I will bring it better next time girls, I promise.
  18. The Dyer kid had a little foul trouble tonight. big kids get no breaks. She is incredible. If I were coach, and Im not....Im also not bashing MrsCoachMcWilliams when I say this.......I would run the ball through the big girl a little more. Not just as the shooter, but as the give and go, or drop it in and pop it back out for the three. They are probably trying to do this more than I know, but Im just not seeing it. Anyways, HUGE DISCLAIMER FOR THAT WHOLE PARAGRAPH: I AM NOT BASHING MrsCoachMcWilliams. That was just MY OPINION. Id win a few games with that team, but most of us here could win at least a couple with them!! Im going to let coach do the coaching. I will just clear out a 6ft lane to cheer from, and see how that goes.
  19. OK, 3 freaking hour drive......sigh.... Can Upperman put a bus together for this game?? How many can we fill for this game???
  20. If you go back and read my post you will see that I said "no matter who won this game, the losing side had something to complain about". I am taking nothing away from the effort of either team. It was a tough, hard fought game. Congrats to the Cannon Co kids. Great effort. And yes, #34 certainly deserved the MVP. She hit some real daggers. Great job. Furthermore: a) As for Dana, if you were not there, how could you know if she was over-confident. The celebration after the LA game should be taken as "Celebrating about Beating LA, and being guaranteed a spot in Sub-State" Any other interpretation is just being a Hater. Dont be a hater. Please. 7)Good luck to Cannon Co. I really like the Sissom kid, and #23, Im forgetting her name. All that being said. GOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. (I really like those girls best!!) Hang in there girls. See you at Polk Co.
  21. Im not calling that a choke job. They just lost by one point in OT to a team that had only lost what....3 games all year. and they were all to Upperman. I might have done one or two things differently, but then again, those couple of things might have gotten my team run out of the gym. Hard to say. (ok, I will confess...i would have kept pushing the ball, but that is me. MrsCoachMcWilliams has a few more wins than I do. I guess Im going with her. And bottom line, Lady Bees had 2 shots to win it at the buzzer, and didnt get it done. That is basketball) Both teams played their tails off. And I will tell you this, the Cannon Co fans bring it HARD! Great job by their fans tonight also. Here is what ticks me off about this game, and I think we can all agree that this game could have went either way, right?? Right. Because I am always right. But this is what ticks me off. There should never be a game that the refs can take any blame for the direction of the win. Im not blaming them here, and I wont, but no matter who won this game, the losing side had plenty to complain about. And Im not naming names, but that woman was afraid to blow her whistle underneath and that was obvious to both sides...according to the conversations I had on the way out with Cannon Co fans.) Congrats to Cannon County, and Good luck. Hopefully we can both push through this and meet again soon!!
  22. man, those FTs were a killer. SC came ready to play, and played a great game. Looked like you had a great bunch of kids. Good luck to them next year.
  23. Please be advised that "Try to Remember All of Your CoachT Usernames and Logins" Season has now officially arrived. Please keep your hands and seat inside the ride at all times, and remain in your seat until the ride has come to a complete stop. Thank you.
  24. Let them rant,as long as they keep it clean, and halfway civil. The board has been livelier in the last ten days or so than all season. If it needs attention I'll call QueenBee, she hates Bball.(my e'mail is down or I would have sent you a PM) Thanks Jimbo...I agree its been good the last couple of weeks. It had been like were all afraid we might have to eat crow or something! There is a lot of crow to eat in this area!! But Jimbo is right, there has not be a whole lot of crowing until just recently. It is good to see things pick up a bit. Good luck and good health. GO BEEEES!!
  25. Here are my thoughts: LET'S GET IT ON!!
