  1. Have heard the same thing but don't know a name. What is the latest on the line coach they interviewed earlier this week?
  2. According to PJ and Kevin they were contacted by the Director right? If this is so then why wasn't anyone from madisonville contacted? Why were they? Are they the voice of Vonore and what does thier opinion matter? It just goes to show you that the Central Office cares nothing about our kids or our school. Does he "the Director" think that we liked to be mislead and lied to and will just take it and go on? Trust me you have got another thing coming. How can anyone trust the man from now on? He deliberatley sat there and lied repeatedly to several people that this would be the Principals decision. Then when he found out that he could not persuade the principal to see it his way he went his way any how. I guess he has that right and now he will be the one responsible for tearing down all the efforts of bringing these two towns together. He was quoted , "I must do what is best to bring thses two communities together". Well Mr Director , NICE JOB! It's not about the two communities it's about the KIDS! The sad thing is we could have had a real Director someone with experience. For some reason we decided the local guy was the way to go. Will we ever learn? Probably not. Coach Satterfield if you choose to accept this position Good Luck to you sir. I hate that you have to come into a situation like this.
  3. This week is full for me but anytime next week is good. Let me know what is best for you. Thanks
  4. PJ let me start off with an appology. I said some things in a previous post that I shouldn't have. For that I am sorry. I have deleted them from that post and won't go down that road again. I know you work hard and when you are dedicated to something it takes alot of time. Here I have been preaching that we need to get together and come together in support of Sequoyah instead of Vonore and Madisonville and in the meantime the only thing I have done is add more bricks to the wall that's between us. So with that I guess it's time for me to shut my mouth and support my Ad and Principal. The invitation is still out though. I still would like that meeting to take place even if it is just 3 or 4 of us.
  5. He has been a Head Coach and for many many years. I don't know all his stats but I do know he has won a State Championship in Mississippi. Slobber you about have me convinced that you are from a spirit world I think it's called "LA LA Land"
  6. Thank you PJ. I wasn't taking a stab at the Vonore LL program I was taking a stab at your asst. You have some good people up ther eand a few bad apples too but any LL program is like that. I'll refrain from making the connection from now on. If Slobber isn't him I'll take your word for it. Oh and it's my opinion that you need to teach the young kids all aspects of the game , run blocking and pass blocking, handing the ball off as well as passing. As to your other statements that is why I want to have a sit down and I love Dr Dave's idea. Lets get everyone involved, espically the Director, all of us, the media that way we are all on the same page. Please lets set this up Ttll me all the good about coach S. I know of his accomplishments while he was at Greenback. There is no doubt he is a good coach. As a matter of fact before they hired Coach H. I said to several people why don't they approach Coach Satterfield. ? I'm not trying to be an #### about it. I have lost my cool at times but then who on here hasn't?
  7. no quite the opposite, I'm sure the Sr and Jr on the team are tired of having a different coach. Why don't you be the first to accept my invitation and lets pick a place to discuss our differences further. That way we are not reading more into a comment than it was intended. I'm felxible pick a time and place and let me know or i will the choice is up to you. there were over 30 signatures on the letter and you say the kids were afraid that if they didn't sign it then thier starting positions would be at stake? That is total BS. You obviously hdon't know the type man Coach G. is. As far as a parents consent, this isn't about the parents. It's about what the kids want and what the best fit for them and the school would be. Who ever it turns out to be they will have my support can you say the same thing? Once again the invitation is there. Lets sit down and discuss it. Like I said it shouldn't matter what we think but the AD and the Principal should have the right to choose thier man. They are the ones that will be working with the guy day in and day out.
  8. Hold on just a minute. The letter you speak of was written by the seniors on the team and the players signed it to show thier support of thier Coach. What does that tell you about the man when his whole team is behind him? We lost several players during spring practice all have returned plus more on the way. That should answer your other question.
  9. So are you saying that Coach G. and the recent Coach Sanders weren't good coaches? Hmmm why don't you leave that Spirit World you live in and come back to the Real World. I would also like to see more paid coaches but when you don't have teaching positions available to fill with potential coaches then what are you suppose to do?
  10. Point well taken. As stated before if Mr Moser and Coach G. want him I'm all for it and yes we need stability in this program that is for sure.
  11. I wish all the nay sayers would have been around last year to watch practices. You would have seen who was in charge of the team. I liked Coach Summey he was a good man and what he brought to our program was Discipline and character and I will always appreciate him for that but that it all he did. None of the offense or defense was his. This is something these boys will carry with them for the rest of thier lives hopefully. The best man for this job is Coach G. he needs to be persuaded to take the job but wants to concentrate on the entire athletic program. Slobber have you ever came and watched a practice? I'd bet not if you are who I think you are then you only came to the games and downgraded players verbally from the stands because they weren't playing who you thought they should play. In fact you don't even have a kid on the team. You are a Vonore LL coach who doesn't know what a running play is. My question to you is do you want to see this team succeed? If so keep you nose out of it and let the Sequoyah Administration do the hiring. The players love Cocah G. They know he is the man that can bring success to the program. Now let me ask you another question, do you want to see the players that you have coached over the years move on to the next level? If so then you would want a coach that would work to get those kids noticed and stand behind them after the season is over. If your answer is yes then ask Coach Summey why he held letters of invitation for two different players to come visit Middle Tn, Marshall and UT. and did not give the letters to them till the visit date had past! Two of our players missed out on going to visit different colleges because thier coach didn't respect them enough to get the letters to them ontime! Also ask Mr Bowers about Coach refusing to send a letter of reccommendation for his son. These are the things that are completely inexcusable. Coach Satterfield had his day and done really well at Greenback but that was then and this is now. The game is different, yes it's still about blocking and tackling but the game is different than when you and I played, or did you play I can't remember? If Coach Satterfield is reccommended by Mr. Moser and by Coach G. then I'll accept it. If he is forced on them then I'm afraid there won't be enough players left to even have a football team. That is how loyal these kids are to Coach G. and if any of you cared to pay attention then you would see that. I normally don't get this caught up in a post but people are going to have to put thier egos aside and let this team have a chance to make something of themself. In closing let me make this invitation and I will bet not one of the nay sayers will take me up on it, Let s setup a meeting. Just a few of us to discuss what we know and what we want to see happen at our school. It will be just me and maybe 2 or 3 others , lets go sit down and talk this thing through. I'm willing to listen to every argument you have and who you think should get the job and why. Is that too much to ask? Keep your screen names private that doesn't matter to me. This isn't to say that we should even have a say in this matter for we shouldn't but WE as parents or ex coaches of Vonore and Madisonville should drop our differences for the betterment of the program. The kids in the halls of the school no longer see Black & Gold or Blue & White. We should follow thier lead and come together as well.
  12. Where did he coach after Greenback? What was thier record? what were the records of the Vonore Teams while he was thier Head Coach? Did he have good asst. coaches at Greenback. I'd be willing to bet he had some very good asst's. I have alot of respect for the man and for what he did at Greenback. So I'm not talking bad about him what so ever but in my opinion we need a coach who doesn't have any ties what so ever to either Madisonville or Vonore. My screen name tells where I am from but don't think for a minute that I don't care about this team. Not just the Madsionville kids but the Vonore kids as well. If any of you doing all the complaining cared about the TEAM then you would be there as often as you could to watch them progress and grow. THIS IS NOT A MADISONVILLE, VONORE THING! You will never see me wearing the Black & Gold around Sequoyah. I'm a Chief Supporter and thats it. I'm at every practice I watch I see what goes on therefore I don't have to listen to other people to know how the team is doing or whats going on at practice. Maybe I'm wierd or something but I have a love for the game and I can't stay away. I don't stand there and shout things form the stands, I don't get in the coaches ear after a practice, I don't offer my opinions to any coach or player. I sit there and watch and I enjoy what I'm seeing .Believe me this team has improved so much from last year to this year. The best thing for this school is for all of us to keep our noses out of it and let the Principal, the AD and the director all come to an agreement on a coach. That is the way it should be and if all three agree then I will support who ever they decide on.
  13. It was a very good outing for us. I think the score was Varsity 4 TD's to thier 3. With the 2nd groups each scoring TD's. I could be wrong but I do know Rhea Co',s 3rd TD came with several subs in on Defense for us. The Offense looked sharp! The defense still has some work to do but didn't look bad at all. The only time we were stopped on Offense we stopped ourself. Turnovers weren't too bad, I think we had 2 fumbles 1 inside the 3 yard line and 1 pic. I know one turnover is bad enough but for the spring I didn't think it was too bad. Our passing game looked better. We dropped at least 1 TD pass and we had a few other drops. Soften up those hands guys. The key to this season will be if we can stay healthy. At this point we don't have alot of depth at certain positions. I think everyone at the game left with a smile on thier face except maybe for the Sweetwater coaches that were present. hehehe Looking forward to the REd/White Game on Friday. Keep working hard guys! Go CHIEFS !!!
  14. Five total I think. Seniors Moser & Helms, Junior Steinhardt, Sophmores Peels & Helms.
  15. Where will we be playing? Do you know how the rest of the District shakes out? Who plays who and when?
  16. Coach G said it would be after baseball has finished with their season.
  17. In response to the Old Warhorse I don't know of many if any 1st year coach that can come in and right off the bat and have a winning season unless he is fortunate enough to have an abundance of tallent. so lets look at what is happening at Sequoyah. This year started with a new Head Coach, new offensive coordinator, and a new line coach. Each of these coaches are from different parts of the US. The Head man from TN, the Off. Cor. from MS, and the Line Coach from OH. So these coaches had to learn to work with each other put thier ideas together and then instill these ideas into the players. Thats just the football side of it. Next you have a new Boys Baketball coach. He came from a school in FL he had no assisstant help. I'm sure his style was different from the previous coaches so again there would have to be a learning curve for the players. Now Baseball, once again a new Head Coach who was playing baseball himself at this time last year for Carson Newman. He is a local boy here and actually graduated from Sequoyah. He is young but knows the game. This is his first coaching experience so you can imagine the pressure he is feeling. He is working hard to teaching these kids and I'm sure he is learning himslef. The team is learning and getting better. Now as for the second part of the question. Who will the Football team beat this season? I will not name specific games but if the team does not finish 500 or above I will be dissappointed. I'm sure most people would agree your offensive and defensive lines are a very BIG part of a teams success. Our offensive line this past year cosisted of 1 SR, 2 JR's, 2 So's and 1 Fr that started 3 games at Tackle and 2 at Guard. The 2 Soph and the Freshamn mentioned were not permitted to play JV ball due to injuries within the year there wasn't enough depth at those positions to risk it. So I'm sure the JV team would have been better if they had been allowed to play. The Defensive line struggled but will be much improved this coming season. With the right defensive scheme on the field I think they can be very tough to run against. This coming year there will be a new Girls Basketball coach which should be named in a few days I think. So that's a total of 6 new coaches in two years. So to sum it all up Yes I do believe things are headed in the right direction for Sequoyah. Time will tell and you will see the differences in the upcomig year.
  18. Just a note incase you didn't know. 1/3 of the players on this team have played organized travel baseball. One Senior and five Freshman and there could be more I'm just going on what I know.
  19. Meigs took both games from Sweetwater. The 2nd game score was 11 to 0 not sure what the score was in the 1st game but the game ended after 5 innings."10 run rule"
  20. Yes I do. How many do you want? Do you want the complete season? Just let me know.
  21. As of the last Booster Club Meeting we are se to play Rhea County at Home on May 13th.
  22. Sources tell me that Coach Martin has left Meigs County to be the new Head Coach at East Ridge. Is there any truth to this and if so where will they look for a new coach? Is ther anyone on staff that might be named Head Coach or will they look elsewhere? From what the source also says there should be alot of tallent coming through the program for the next 8 years. This might help in the search for a new Coach.
  23. Glad to see you back Dum Dum. Just a note to everyone, there is a Booster Club Meeting tonight at 7:00 pm in the highschool cafeteria. Hope to see you all there.
  24. Dum Dum not ponied up yet? Glad to see you post Big C and welcome.
