  1. I hope D-B is thinking about The Hill as well. How many in a row has D-B won in this rivalry?
  2. Crockett is much improved since the Tn High game. The line did not play too well the first two weeks of the season. Sumo has been a terror since the Tn High game. Sumo is much like CS. Sumo runs big as well and is a tough kid. He played hurt last week and willed Crockett to victory. Crockett sees him everyday in practice so that is a plus coming into this week. I hope both Sensabaugh and Sumo are healthy this week. My biggest concern is that Crockett has seen the spread the past 4 weeks. Crockett has at least one winning season. That year we made a trip up to the Castle and took a beating in the playoffs.
  3. I forgot about North Greene, but they did have a couple of playoff years earlier this decade. I find it interesting that this is the first time these schools have met in football.
  4. This is true. If Crockett wins they deserved it on that particular Friday Night. If Sumo can last 4 quarters they will have a chance, if CS can play near 90% he will have a field day. I am gonna go out on the proverbial limb and take Crockett 28-27 ( missed PAT ). As for South and Science Hill.... Science Hill will pass effectively and score but I don't think they will stop the South offense enough....South 35 SH 24. The rest..... Boone 35 Volunteer 14 TN High 52 Central 6 Hope it don't rain. Which game am I going to go to????? Probably South / Science Hill. Your right. I probably should have said DC will need more than a few things to go their way. If you have watched Crockett football for as long as I have, you would probably understand the reason why I used lucky. It is not unreasonable to think Crockett doesn't have a shot in this game. I could be wrong but I think this game will feature the winningest team in East Tn verses the losingest team in East Tn. I assume DB has the most wins in East Tn right now. I know Crockett has had only one winning season in the past 20 years and I think they have only had two in their whole history. Before Coach Green showed up Crockett was 1-29 in their prior 3 seasons with that one win coming on a miracle play against Volunteer. This is probably one of the best teams in DC history. All of that aside....what does D-B look like on D? Do they have any studs? Crockett has a decent safety in Lewis. He seems to be everywhere. They have a huge DT and a fast DE in #45.
  5. Crockett has a lot on the line this week. They are still playing for the playoffs and for a winning season. Two things that rarely happen at Crockett, especially in football. I'm sure they have been told all week that no one up in Kingsport.......East Tn is giving them a chance to win. I'm still undecided. Crockett's o-line has put it together the past couple of weeks, but I know D-B has a very talented team. I am very unfamiliar with D-B's program other than they have a good tradition and a huge band. When I looked at the standings....if Crockett can pull off the upset this week, then they would be playing for 3rd place in the conference next week against South regardless if South wins or takes a loss this week, but more importantly, DC would be playing for the 3rd automatic bid to the playoffs. It is a long shot...I know. Being realistic, DC would be extremely lucky to pull a win in their upcoming two games.
  6. All the county money will go towards paying for that nice new stadium up at Science Hill.
  7. I think this one will be closer than what most people think. I'm not saying Crockett will win, but I would not be shocked if they did. Crockett is two plays away from being 6-1. Sumo was hurt last week and ran for 230 yards and 3tds. I hope he is fully healthy this week. I think he is around 1200 yards for the year with over 10tds. Crockett has ran for over 300 yards the past 5 games. They are very confident. Crockett also has a decent running Qb and a decent FB. The defense has done enough to keep Crockett in every game for the exception of the Tn High game. The pass D has been suspect at times this year. Crockett has had only two or three winning seasons since the school opened. The boys want it, but will it be enough to block the Indians..... Heres the deal. Crockett had their let down game last week. They played terrible, but were able to pull it out. I hope and expect they will show up to play. If Crockett can win one of their last three games they are probably going to get a wild card and be in the playoffs. The one problem for Crockett will be their depth. There are a few kids that play both ways. I think their Qb has played almost every play this season. He does it all, even special teams.
  8. Will this be Gilligans last year? or Does he get one more year?
  9. Crockett 22-13. Played flat. Sumo played hurt and ran for over 200 yards with 3 Tds. He's over 1200 yards on the year. O-line did a good job again tonight.
  10. I was simply having fun about the education comment. I, like you, did not attend Crockett. I support the kids down at Crockett in most everything they do not just athletics. I post on this board, because Crockett does not have much support on here. When I post on these boards I try to do it as unbiased as I can. For example, we played Morristown East two or three years ago at Mo East. Crockett lost 23-21. However, East was by far the better team. We had a few big plays and some how we stayed in the game. There were some calls in that game, like every game, that did not go our way. It happens. Friday night, Science Hill was not the better team. I say the teams are about even like the score suggested. Crockett ran the ball at will. 300 yards is not a fluke. Science Hill threw it at will. 200 yards is not a fluke. Both teams made stops. Crockett didn't allow a point until the "controversial" touchdown. That is why it is hard for me to believe you when you say that they would not have stopped Science Hill that drive. 50/50, could have went either way. In the second half, The Hill had one really long drive and the game winning touchdown drive. Crockett made a few stops in the second half. That is obvious because the score would have been much worse. The bottom line is I'm tired of it. Its over. We lost. I'm still talking about it because I'm going to speak on things that are said that I believe are not totally true. If this was against DB there would have been a riot on this board and many would have spoken. I probably would not have said even one word about it. But because it is Crockett, someone has to at least take up the cause even if it is a week old and I was fine with the outcome last Friday night.......even after I saw the photo on Saturday I was still fine with the outcome. Yes it stinks the game may have been decided on that one call, but Crockett had a dropped pass on 4th down and Goal. They also missed two extra points. They also had a penalty, I think a false start, when they were going for two on their second touchdown. To me, the game was decided by the play on the field not by the eyes of that ref. Good luck this week Science Hill. While I hope Boone sticks it to you, we really need a Boone loss to help out our playoff chances.
  11. I see you are putting you Science Hill education to good work young man.
  12. Crockett ran for over 300 yards and passed for at least 50. You do the math.
  13. The game I watched Friday night the DC D Ends had very little sucess against SH but the nose guard (#74 if I remember correctly) had his way up the middle. Adjustments were made to help out with #74 and DC had no answer for the Toppers after that adjustment was made. You were not "cheated" out of anything as SH has nothing to do with the refs, same as any other school so quit whining and get ready to play this week. Do you know if the picture in the Press was his first foot down or his second? I would need to see the film for sure but remember the Press probably sold alot more papers because they used that picture. (but again I don't know for sure nor do you unless you have watched the film and it's doubtful that it captured the line clear enough to tell) Are you trying to be funny with your spelling like starsandbars? You honestly believe the Press sold more copies because of that picture? The kid who caught the ball in the endzone only put one foot down and that was the foot shown in the picture. I'm tired of talking/hearing about it. It's done. Crockett lost. Now on to this week's game. I expect it to be another close game. The Hill only took one shot down the field against Crockett. They had long drives....short passes all the way down the field with a mix of a few runs. The more plays it takes to get down the field equals a better chance at turning the ball over. I expect an opportunistic Boone D to be the difference in this game. If Boone makes some plays they win. If the Hill protects the ball they win. Its just like every game, it comes down to tackling and turnovers. Give the guy a break on his spelling. He is a Crockett fan you know.
  14. I hope Crockett shows up to play and doesn't overlook Central. It reminds me of a couple of years ago when South Greene showed up and beat Crockett 3-0. Crockett was the better team that day against South Greene but had a subpar game.
  15. Get real........you can't even spell defense. Boone played some good games, and they showed they have a great defense but their offense needs to step it up. Lots of those boys play both ways and the defense on the field all the time wears out some of those who get their rest on offense. Before anything gets said about Boone being the best, they have 4 more tests that could be games where they shoot themselves in the foot. Can't look over Science Hill, TN High is a beast in week 9, and the way Crockett is playing the Musket Bowl is up for grabs in a close one. That said though, if Boone wins out, TN High loses to DB, but TN High beats South, then Daniel Boone will be the conference champs...but one week at a time here. Sad....a Boone supporter can't even spell If you think the spelling is bad on that side of the county you should check out any number of Crockett threads.
  16. The catch in the endzone before the half was not a touchdown. I believe that is what Blevins is refering to. Crockett had stopped them all half.....too bad they didn't get that chance because of a poor call. 12-0 sounds a lot better going into the half than 12-7. Crockett stopped the Hill on 4th down and 1 in the first half. They also stopped the Hill in the second half (I'm not sure it was on 4th or if we made them punt) which allowed Crockett to take the lead in the 4th qtr. I think you must have not been watching a few SH drives....... The refs did not beat us. I stated that earlier in one of my posts. I believe the refs only called one penalty on Science Hill's offense and that was for a false start, so I believe we just had poor refs in general. I could say the SH line held on half of their pass plays and especially on their screen passes. I'm sure the refs did the best they could. Crockett missed two extra points. If that is not beating yourself, I do not know what else you call it. No ifs...your right Crockett lost. Time will tell on both of these teams. I'm not sure if Crockett or Science Hill will get in the playoffs. Crockett will struggle with depth and size against D-B and South. I'm sure Boone plays many players both ways as well as Central. Science Hill probably won't be able to throw the ball as well against their remaining schedule. Crockett played well off their receivers and got nickeled and dimed all the way down the field. I don't think the Hill threw but three or four passes over 10 yards all night. They just got the ball to their receivers in space and made plays. Point being made is against a more athletic team this might be trouble. (example Tn High). The Hill will probably need to reach 6-4 or get a win over D-B to reach the postseason. Crockett will probably need to get 6-4 as well, but either team could get a wildcard (someone please tell me how this works). Good luck to the Hill the rest of the way.....I hope you run the ball more behind that huge O-line of yours.
  17. Last year we were playing Morristown West....terribly bad call but you have to deal with the cards you are dealt. One bad call can cost the game, but you were down there where you should have scored....ifs and what might be. I'm looking forward to the Musket Bowl. I thought it would be Boone all the way but no way... it'll be a tight game all the way. That was awful for you guys last year. It hurt us to lose last night because it might mean the playoffs for us. We have some tough games coming up. Who knows maybe we will pull off an upset.
  18. Greeneville is probably not the team they were the past two years. However, you can not chalk up a 44-0 win on refs and an off night. A better way to put it is we lost to "talent and tradition." Eventually a Greene Co. team will beat Greeneville. It may not happen anytime soon, but it will happen. Crockett is like 2-28 or something like that against Greeneville, but man it felt great to beat them 22-0 three years ago. It will happen, but so far Greeneville has put it to the county schools.
  19. http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/Sports/ ... p?ID=71502 -The picture clearly shows this wasn't a touchdown. Great catch...just not in bounds. We will see what happens in the next few weeks. After next weeks game, which I hope we do not look past, we play D-B, South, and Boone. That is a tough way to finish a season. I think the DC vs. Boone game should be a good one if Crockett can stay healthy the rest of the way. Science Hill did a good job passing the ball. I hope Boone beats them good next week.
  20. Hats of to Science Hill for pulling out the win tonight. Crockett was the better team. Beat themselves twice inside of the redzone. Two missed extra points. Dropped pass late in the game. The refs were awful. (Not the reason we lost the game, but it didn't help our cause).
  21. I won't disagree with you, but Crockett's D had 6 ints last week and 3 the week before.
  22. Crockett may have the best two players on the field in Gillen and Sumo, but I think Science Hill will probably have the edge in overall size and speed. If Crockett wins they are going to have to play mistake free ball and get pressure on the QB. That said, that might not be enough. If Crockett wins it will be a close one, if not I just hope this one isn't a blowout.
  23. I'll be there! This will probably be my first and last trip to Memorial Stadium. I hope it is a good game. Crockett has ran the ball at will the last 3 weeks but I'm not sure that will be the case against a stronger and faster Science Hill squad. I know DC has to be confident coming into this game with their first 3 game winning streak in forever.
  24. It will take a lot, a whole lot, for the Buffs to win..........but I hope they do. Go Buffs!
